What Do You Value

Daily Reading—Job 13-16 / Acts 20
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Acts 19:18-19 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
Isn’t it amazing to see the men in today’s passage not only confess their faith in Christ, but Acts 19:18 says they “shewed their deeds.” Verse 19 gives us an example. It says they brought together things they knew were offensive to God and burned them. Things that had great earthly value, they destroyed. Why, because it offended God, whom they valued more.
Sometimes we need to take inventory of our lives and maybe get rid of some things. Not because they have no earthly value, but because they offend God, whom we value more. Don’t sell them to someone else to plague their lives; destroy them.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Have you examined the things you hold most valuable?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?
