Whose Vision Is It?

November 30, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 29:16-18 When the wicked are multiplied, transgression increaseth: but the righteous shall see their fall. Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

A vision! Sounds like someone closed their eyes and somehow received this vision. It brings memories of Bible stories where God brought information through prophets by visions. I have heard preachers tell of their vision for new buildings or schools. Missionaries talk about their vision for the mission field and people of another land. Evangelists share a vision for America and the church. Some back up this need and vision by using this verse. “Where there is no vision the people perish.” The problem is they stopped quoting to soon.

The vision referred to in this verse is not to be our vision. It is to be God’s vision. The word vision here means “Prophetic Revelation.” The second part of that verse says, “but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” We no longer need God to implant visions in us for the future. The Bible is our complete “Prophetic Revelation.” God does not need another messenger with a new message. He needs messengers to carry out the old message that makes people new creations in Him.

I believe the pastors, evangelists, and missionaries who used this passage were sincere. I believe God works in us and places burdens in hearts for places of service. I also believe those Ministry related visions truly came from time in the Word and understanding God’s desire on their life. God will impart wisdom in the hearts of man to carry out earthly visions.

Nevertheless, we must be sure we understand scripture as it is written. Without a vision, people do perish. Without a Word from God, people will perish. How do we get that Word? Read the Bible daily and share it often.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

A song says, “Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.” We might pray; Rescue us Oh Lord, from perishing without your Word. Help us Father, not to navigate life without prophetic guidance from your Holy Word, lest we perish without your Vision. Amen.

Raise Up A Leader

November 27, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 29:12-15 If a ruler hearken to lies, all his servants are wicked. The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes. The king that faithfully judgeth the poor, his throne shall be established for ever. The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

John Maxwell, in his book; “Developing the Leaders Around You” said, “Grow a leader – grow the organization.” In other words, as the leader goes, so goes the organization.

Where would John Maxwell, a Christian author, get such an idea? I believe he probably got it from the Bible. That is exactly what verse twelve says. If the ruler is wicked, those around him who follow his lead are likely to be wicked as well.

Why is that you may wonder. It may occur for a number of reasons. First off, a leader is going to bring on board those who he feels will support his decisions. If his decisions are going to be shady, he will need people of a shady character around him to get his ideas into play. Then again, often it is because the people around him have been trained to be like him. The ways of doing things are taught through the day-to-day operations. Many of them may not know any other way of doing things. Corrupt practices could just be all they have ever known. They too will then often treat others in a deceitful manner just because this is how they have learned to do things. Those who will not follow their unruly schemes are often looked down on.

Often, we find that nothing will change in the lives of these people until real troubles come their way. Let them come down with a life-threatening disease. Money and position cannot buy health. It may afford different treatment, but life itself is given by God. In our text, it says; “The poor and the deceitful man meet together: the LORD lighteneth both their eyes.” God gives life to both the poor and affluent. Life and death situations will always seem to level the playing field.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

When facing God someday, I want to be on the side that had compassion on humanity, like the king who faithfully judged the poor. How will we get compassionate leaders? We raise them to be that way. Godly parents setting Godly examples.

Let Me Tell You Something

November 26, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 29:8-11 Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath. If a wise man contendeth with a foolish man, whether he rage or laugh, there is no rest. The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul. A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

People get mad over some really silly things. They whine about it, stew over it, run it through their brain time and again, and then say, “I think I’ll just give them a piece of my mind.” I heard a man once say to someone who made that comment, “don’t do that, you have so little to begin with.”

It just seems natural for most people to share their thoughts when they are angry. Occasionally, if this can be done in a calm and collected manner of conversation, it may even be constructive to do so. However, most often this anger comes out as a slur of hate filled slander that really does little to help solve whatever the problem is to begin with.

Then there are those people who just seem to have a need to share all they know every time they see you. Fortunately, that will normally not take very long if you see them regularly. Why, because they do it every single time you see them, and they have shared everything they knew just not too long ago. They cannot know that much more in that short of time, right?

Sadly, there are also people who will use those talkative types of people. They make them think they are their friends when in actuality they are not. To promote the latest gossip about someone or something these fake friends fill the heads of the ones who spill their guts when angry and then intentionally bring up something to get them upset. Then sure enough, when the next person brings up that subject, the person who loves to empty their brain of all they know, become like water from an open faucet, they pour out everything they have been fed. None of these people ever gain respect from those around.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

This sin is often called gossip and God hates it. In today’s passage it says, “A fool uttereth his mind.” The problem is all they have is a small part of the account in their mind. They often do not know the whole story. Let us be wise believers and wait to find out what is on God’s mind before we talk too much.

 Forever, For Free

November 25, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 29:5-7 A man that flattereth his neighbour spreadeth a net for his feet. In the transgression of an evil man there is a snare: but the righteous doth sing and rejoice. The righteous considereth the cause of the poor: but the wicked regardeth not to know it.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

If you want a test that will help you know who your real friends are, tell them you are broke. The wealthy seem always to have friends around. People clamor over them like dogs around a dinner table hoping that a little something might fall off to them. However, ask yourself, are these real friends?

How would you like to live your life wondering if the people who say they are your friends really are or not? Wondering if they really like you or do they like what you might be able to give them. It does not have to be money. It might be that you have a talent and the only time these so-called friends ever come around is when they need use of that talent. It may be that you own an object they like to use, and the only two times you see them is when they come to borrow it, and then again, when you have to go get it from them because they forgot to return it.

Often it is what you have that really has the friends. In the case of the wealthy, the money has friends. It is not the wealthy person, but their wealth that these people enjoy. Money will cause some people to be deceivers and false friends. Nevertheless, they always seem to be found out eventually. You cannot keep up a fake friendship forever.

Those consider financially poor are far richer than the wealthy. Let me explain. The wealthy may have only a couple of real friends, but they do not know who they are in the crowd of imposters. They are socially bankrupt. The poor financially may have only a couple of friends, but they really know them. Ask yourself, who then is wealthy and who is poor?

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

When looking for friends in this world, look to see why they are there. If you start out buying your friends time, when you run out of money, you will run out of friends. Jesus will always be your friend. He just wants to be with you and wants you to be with Him. Forever, for free.
