Do Not Doubt God

August 30 & 31, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Luke 22:23
And they began to inquire among themselves, which of them it was that should do this thing.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Jesus had just told His Disciples that one of them was about to betray Him. Each of the Disciples began to turn to one another and ask, “Is it I?” Doubt was a weapon that the Devil was using way back in the days of the Disciples.

Deception and doubt are some of Satan’s greatest tools. If Satan can get you to doubt your walk with God, doubt your salvation, doubt that your testimony is effective, and doubt your place of service for God, then he can get you to be less than what God intended for you to be.

In Matthew 14:31, when Peter was sinking in the sea, Jesus reached out to him and said, “O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? Later in Matthew 21:21-22, Jesus told His disciples, “Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Jesus fully understood the problem with doubt. He also knew how Satan would use it.

Let’s not give place to Satan in our lives with doubt about anything God has told us is true. Our Salvation is secure, He promised. Our position in Him is sure; He said so. Our service to Him will bring rewards, He proclaimed it. In addition, Satan, who brings about doubt, is defeated, and Christ beats him.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In 2 Timothy 1:7, it says, For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” Let’s not let the devil tempt us with doubt and fear. We should proclaim with a loud voice, “On Christ the Solid Rock I stand; all other ground is so surely sinking sand.”

Do you believe in God’s salvation so much
you can’t help but tell people you meet?

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

Whose Vision Is It?

August 29, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 29:18
Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

A vision! Sounds like someone closed their eyes and somehow received this vision. It brings memories of Bible stories where God brought information through prophets by visions. I have heard preachers tell of their vision for new buildings or schools. Missionaries talk about their vision for the mission field and the people of another land. Evangelists share a vision for America and the church. Some backup this need and vision by using this verse. “Where there is no vision, the people perish.” The problem is they stopped quoting too soon.

The vision referred to in this verse is not to be our vision. It is to be God’s vision. The word vision here means “Prophetic Revelation.” The second part of that verse says, “but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.” We no longer need God to implant visions in us for the future. The Bible is our complete “Prophetic Revelation.” God does not need another messenger with a new message. He needs today’s messengers to carry out the old message that makes people a new creation in Him.

I believe the pastors, evangelists, and missionaries who used this passage were sincere. I believe God works in us and places burdens in our hearts for places of service. I also believe those ministry-related visions truly came from time in the Word and understanding God’s desire for their life. God will impart wisdom in the hearts of men to carry out earthly visions.

Nevertheless, we must be sure we understand Scripture as it is written. Without a vision, people do perish. Without a Word from God, people will perish. How do we get that Word? Read the Bible daily and share it often.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

A song says, “Rescue the perishing, care for the dying, Jesus is merciful, Jesus will save.” We might pray: Rescue us, Lord, from perishing without your Word. Help us, Father, not to navigate life without prophetic guidance from your Holy Word, lest we perish without your Vision. Amen.

Is your vision and God’s vision in alignment?

Who Are You Calling A Fool?
August 28, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 53:1
The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

When we think of a fool today, we think of someone odd or goofy. But when the Bible refers to someone as a fool, it is speaking of his or her moral and spiritual insensitivity. A fool would be someone who rejects God. So, who would this term fool, then include? Well, as much as we hate to admit it, this would include us all before our eyes were opened to the love of God and we received Jesus as our Saviour. We were part of the foolish in this world. Yet, at the moment of our salvation, God began to use those of us who were the foolish of this world to teach the wise. That is, those who are wise in their own eyes, but still foolish to God.

The foolish would include all who continue to refuse the eternal salvation offered through the sacrificial blood of Jesus Christ. It would also include those who feel that somehow, they can earn their way to heaven through works. The Bible says by grace we are saved, not of works. Furthermore, it would include those who feel all roads, or many ways, lead to heaven. God’s Word clearly states that the way to heaven is a narrow way. Jesus said, “I am the way.” Anyone who denies the truth of God’s Word denies God.

Now that I think about it, anyone who would deny God and the promises of His Word would be kind of odd, goofy, or foolish!

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Before we go pointing a finger at the foolish today, remember we all started just that way. For all have sinned, the Bible says, and sin blinds us to the truth. Let’s continue to be a witness to everyone. For God so loved the “world.” In addition, if God can use ex-fools like us, who knows what He might do with someone who is being foolish today?

Might god use you today?

Are We Fighting A Losing Battle?

August 27, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Isaiah 35:4, 5
Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompense; he will come and save you. Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

In today’s world, it may seem at times as if Christians are fighting a losing battle. Television displays homosexuality as the norm and gives this group not only prominent airtime but also now titles programming with their slogans of “Gay” and “Queer.” We have judges who have sworn to uphold the Constitution and will stand up for artwork on display in front of our little children in public with nudity and profanity because it is called art and freedom of speech. However, these same judges want to take down a monument of the Ten Commandments because it might “influence someone.” Pornography is everywhere you look, from television, magazines, and the internet. If someone tries to block it from our youth in places like public libraries, we are called narrow-minded. The lyrics to songs and the language on almost all media were what was called “gutter language” when I was a child. Cussing and swearing are to our children now just normal speech. There is sin everywhere. Moreover, as bad as it seems in the United States, reports from around the world seem worse.

What can we do? Where do we turn? The answer today is the same as it has been since Christ rose from the tomb. We keep sharing the gospel and turn to other believers and Christ. God gave us the church for just such a time as this.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

We can all rest assured that there will come a time when every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ Is Lord of all. Until then, we must keep on keeping on for the glory of God.

Are we fighting a loosing battle, or has Christ already won?

Come As A Little Child

August 26, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Luke 18:17
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Babies are so cute. One of the joys of Grandparenting is that you get to love on those grandchildren, spoil them rotten, and then send them home with their parents. Observed closely, you will see several common traits in small children. For example, if an adult shows a child some attention, they will come to them and be excited to be around them. They love to have your attention. They are also expecting you to be happy and playful. Babies want to be around joyful people.

Little children are also coming to you, dependent on and desiring your care for them. Small children will do almost anything they are asked to do by someone bigger than they are. Adults tell them things like, “Jump off the counter, I will catch you!” What do they do? They jump! Why? Because they trust completely in your ability to catch them and believe you will. They are obedient without question.

Children are also imitators. Have you ever seen someone trying to work on something with small children around? The next thing you know, the child is right there trying to do it too, asking that age-old question planted in the heart of every child. “WHY?” Why is this, and why is that? Why do they ask why so much? Because they have come to you expecting to learn and wanting your help.

This is probably just scratching the surface of what Jesus meant when He said we, as adults, must come as little children.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

We must come to the cross believing and trusting. We should run to Jesus excited, happy, and wanting to be in His presence. We must realize our dependence on Him and that He will take care of us. We should always be asking Him why, how, and what. Ever seeking the answers, He has written for us in His Word. We should want to be around Him and desire to help do what He is doing. Simply stated, we should come to Him as little children.

What does it mean to you to come to God as a little child today?
