I’ll Fix Them!

August 25, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 25:21, 22
If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Ok, today is the day we get honest. Think for just a second, who is the one person who rubs you the wrong way? Do not say it aloud… You do not want everyone to know! You know who it is. It is the person that when you see them coming, you hide because you do not want to speak to them. The one individual who seems to always be really irritating. Maybe they have made you mad, or possibly they have hurt you in some way. Perhaps they have caused you so many problems, it is not even funny. So, do you have that person in mind? Well, today is the day we fix their wagon. After all this time, we are going to finally make things right. Jesus has shown us exactly what to do to people who treat us like this. Are you ready for the remedy? Here it is. Treat them as Jesus treated you.

Remember back when you would do or say things that must have hurt Jesus? When you did that, what did He do? He laid down His life to save you. Can you recall all those times you neglected Him, called one of His children names, or made fun of those Christians? Well, He sure got even with you. How? He loved you unconditionally. That will teach you to be ugly to Him.

Yes, Jesus tells us that we should treat our enemies with respect and love. That seems like a lot to ask. You may be wondering, “What do you get out of it?” God said He would reward you. Quite possibly, as you show the love of Jesus to someone else, God might give you a new Saved Friend.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Jesus loves the little children, ALL the children of the world, red, and yellow, black, and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.

Could Jesus show that love through you today,
or is there something in the way?

What Causes You To Fear?

August 23 & 24, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Isaiah 26:3-4
Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

When do you feel scared? When are worries most likely to get to you? When is it that you become the most afraid? I am sure several of you had numerous answers. On the other hand, I would also imagine most of them fall into an area of either insecurity or unbelief.

Most people do not experience fear standing on the sidewalk of their local town. However, if you lived in Los Angeles, California, and an earthquake began to shake the ground you were standing on, you might be a little worried. Or if it was at night and you found yourself in a less-than-desirable or unfamiliar part of town, you might find that you are a bit frightened. What changed? Was it the sidewalk? No. It was the situation you found yourself in. Situations or conditions that were out of your control.

One of the nice things about trusting in God is that you can know without a shadow of a doubt that nothing is out of His control. He never takes a break from watching over you. If you truly trust Him, He will be with you through all your fears. If we truly trust in Him, He will take away many of them.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In Proverbs 3:5-6 it says: “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

When do you feel most afraid and why?

Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

Forsake ALL?

August 22, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Luke 14:33
So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

What does today’s verse mean to forsake all? Does it mean that I must move out of my house and leave it all behind? Do I need to give up my job, walk around somewhat aimlessly, and when I run into people, tell them of Christ? Give away my car and walk to every place I go? Leave my family behind and begin to travel? No. That would not be in keeping with the rest of the scripture, which tells us to be good stewards. If we have absolutely nothing to care for, what are we to be stewards of? The Bible says we are to be good husbands, wives, fathers, and mothers. If we leave our family, is that being a good parent or spouse? So, what does this verse mean?

It means you must put God first before all those things. You must become as dead to yourself and your desires. You must choose to follow Christ and His leading. Jesus was telling them what preachers have been trying to share with people since then. Coming to Jesus is not a trip down the aisle, and it is over. Knowing Christ is not learning to say a prayer and then living just as you did before. Coming to Christ is, well, just like it sounds, coming to Christ. Coming and depositing your entire life into Christ. It means trusting Him with all your cares and concerns. Believing He will help you to be a better steward of everything that He places in your control. It is being better than you could have been without Him. It is turning your LIFE over to Christ. All of your LIFE.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

It may sound almost scary to think of giving total control of your life over to someone. Yet you give surgeons that control during surgery. Think about this: whether you give Him your life or not, He is still in total control. He may allow you to have your way and, as a result, often suffer in your sins if you want to, but WHY would you want to?

What could you have in life if you would FORSAKE ALL to God?

The Annual County Fair

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 21:16
The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

As a young boy, I would go to the County Fair whenever it came to town. I would ride all the rides, play some of the games, and just have a great time. I remember while walking down the fairway, people who operated the booths would be yelling out, “Hey, try your luck for fifty cents” or “Twenty-five cents to see the multi-headed alligator.” Always yelling something crazy, trying to get you to come and see what they had.

Sometimes, as a preacher, I feel like those carnival workers. Yelling at the top of my lungs, “Come see Christ, see what He’s done for you.” Doing my best to tell people, “For free, you can receive salvation, your admission price has been paid in full.” Nevertheless, it often seems to no avail as people wander by. Some will laugh, some just will not listen, while others do not believe that it is true. They wander out of the way of understanding and remain in the congregation of the dead.

I hope you do not think for one second that I am trying to cheapen the church to the likes of a carnival, or the gospel message to a carny’s cry. I am merely trying to illustrate the frustration of preachers who want so badly for people to hear of the free salvation offered by Christ. The disappointment and concern they feel for the unsaved while watching people walk past in life and reject God’s message. As our verse said, “The man that wandereth out of the way of understanding shall remain in the congregation of the dead.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

The rejection of the gospel is not surprising, just heartbreaking. Remember, Jesus said long ago, that they are not rejecting you, they are rejecting Him. So, keep telling people as long as they walk by. Occasionally, someone will listen, understand, and accept the truth of God’s love through His Son Jesus and be saved.

Did you have a chance to tell anyone yesterday about Jesus?
Will you tell someone today if you get the opportunity?

Do You Know The Answers?

August 20, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 45:17
I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations: therefore shall the people praise thee for ever and ever.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Can you recall the Salesman and Sales Manager from Ford Motors in 1946 who became the Chairman and CEO of Chrysler in 1979? Some of you might remember, but a good share of you did not. His name was Lee Iacocca. Here is another good one for you to guess. Who was born Marion Morrison on May 26, 1907, in the town of Winterset, Iowa? He went on to become one of the world’s best-known cowboys. A few of you might know that it was John Wayne. Try this one. Who was a famous Texan in 2003 who went on to become President, and where was he born? Some of you might have guessed President George W. Bush. However, if you said his birthplace was Texas, you are wrong. He is the only living Bush child at the time of this writing not born in Texas. He was born in New Haven, Connecticut, while his father was finishing college.

Now, what if I were to ask you who was born in a manger in a little town called Bethlehem? His earthly father was a carpenter by trade. He traveled all around, working miracles, and finally died on a cross. Who would you say this was? There would be no hesitation in most people’s minds. It was Jesus. If I also asked who was reported to have risen from the grave and then ascended into heaven? You would say, Jesus. That name will be remembered by every generation throughout all of history. No other name is so well recognized. No other life is so well studied. None other has ever made the difference that Jesus has made in the lives of so many.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Jesus. Name above all names. Saviour, Counselor, Prince of Peace. Others come, go, and make an impact on their era of time. Jesus came and stayed in the hearts of all people and will make an impact throughout all time. JESUS! JESUS! JESUS! Yes, Friend, there is something very special about that name.

Why do you think Jesus is the answer to life’s greatest trials?
