SEPTEMBER 11, 2026—Put Your Toys Away

Put Your Toys Away

1 Corinthians 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Over and over, I remember as a child hearing my mom and dad say, “Put your toys away.” I hated hearing that. It meant I had to go upstairs, pick up all the toys, even the ones my sister had taken out, and put them in the toy box. Yet, here is something I find strange. I cannot remember the last time I did that. I do not have an anniversary on my calendar for the last day that I played with my toys. It was something I outgrew a desire for and walked away from.

Our maturity in our Christian walk should be much the same. There should be things we look back on and say, “I do not remember when, but I spiritually outgrew that.” If not, we must ask ourselves a serious question.
