Nothing New Today

SEPTEMBER 30, 2026
Daily Reading—Ecc. 11-12 / Gal. 4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Galatians 1:9 As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Every so many years, we see a new fad pop up on the church horizon. When it does, people flock to it by the thousands. It may be music, programming, some new electronic gizmo, or whatever. None of which in themselves are bad if used for the right reasons and in the right way. However, as we have often seen, with a new whatever it is comes a new, more modern, and often twisted teaching of religion. That is a problem.

    Paul warned the church many years ago that there is no new gospel. You can shine a new light or sing a new song, but you cannot develop a new gospel. If you add to it or subtract from it, it’s a lie. Some things can change to update ministries. However, friend, the message can never change.   

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t that GOOD NEWS?

A Bit Of Advice

SEPTEMBER 29, 2026
Daily Reading—Ecc. 9-10 / Gal. 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 13:11 Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    In closing his second letter to the church, Paul gives them a bit of advice that is still good advice today. These traits cannot be overlooked as a kind goodbye. Each of them takes some deliberate thought and work.

    Be perfect, – Not having arrived, but being perfected.
    Be of good comfort, – Comfort one another in Christ.
    Be of one mind, – Study to have one mind in Christ.
    Live in peace, – Live in Christ, the author of peace.

   
     Paul is saying that if we strive to live this way and do these things, then “the God of love and peace shall be with you.” Not only is He with us in the sense that He never leaves us, but God is also with us, helping in our daily walk.

Shine For Him

SEPTEMBER 28, 2026
Daily Reading—Ecc. 7-8 / Gal. 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Why is it that Christians go through such horrible times? Well, what I am about to say will not fix your awful times. It may, however, give you reason to endure them.

    During those days when you are doing okay, you are happy, and there is not a care in the world, it may be hard for the lost to see you as any different from most others in the world. However, when we face trials and adversities and still praise God in the midst of them, that is when God shines through. You see, the world is watching. Praising God in the good times, well, that makes sense. But praising God during trials, my friend, that is supernatural.  

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Your trials may not go away. Yet isn’t shining for Jesus worth it just a little bit?

It’s A Disguise

SEPTEMBER 26 & 27, 2026
Daily Reading—Ecc. 5-6 / Gal. 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 11:13-14 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    The autumn season has crept into our lives. The air is a bit crisper, daylight dwindles, and the leaves on the trees turn color to beautify this time of year. It is time to prepare for the winter ahead. However, before Winter arrives, on Oct. 31, many will get dressed up in disguises and go trick-or-treating for Halloween.

    When I read Paul’s warning about false apostles and deceitful workers transforming themselves, I am reminded of these little children in disguises. The word “transforming” in 2 Cor. 11:13-15 means they disguised themselves. Paul warned the church then, as God warns us today: do not be fooled by fancy disguises. Measure everything by God’s Word. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you be fooled by the world’s tricks with no lasting treat?

     On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in your pastor’s heart. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message.
Then, when you get home, reread those passages for today’s reading.
God has given your pastor exactly what He desires for you to have on that day.

I Don’t Have To Give, I Get To

SEPTEMBER 25, 2026
Daily Reading—Ecc. 3-4 / 2 Co. 13

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Corinthians 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    God has been so kind to me in that He has given me a loving wife. She shows me her love in so many ways. She is concerned when I am hurt or worried. She helps in areas where I need help. She encourages me when I am down and brings me back to earth when my head gets off in the clouds. To buy or give her something within my means is not a chore; it brings me nothing but great joy. Everything I am or have is greatly due to who she is and has been with me on this journey.

    That is also how I feel about God. All that my wife is to me, God is also, and greater. Everything I am and have is totally due to who He has been to me on this journey. To give something to Him of time, talent, or treasure is not a chore; it brings me nothing but great joy.  

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Why would I not cheerfully give to Him?
