Daily Reading—Exodus 23-24 / Matthew 22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The Sadducees, like some today, believed that when a person dies, they are dead. However, they are not. The body may wait for the resurrection, but the soul lives on. The Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection. They took all they knew from the first five books of the Bible and argued that there was no afterlife. Some today believe that when a person dies, their soul goes to the grave with them. Jesus, using a statement from the first five books, tells them it is not so. Jesus said that God said, “I am the God of,” not, I was the God of. He is God of the living, not the dead.

That is why Paul said in 2 Cor. 5:8, for the believer, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The soul immediately goes to be with God.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Do you believe eternal life is eternal, or interrupted?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

FEBRUARY 3, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 20-22 /  Matthew 21:23-46

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

What is it that would place a person in God’s family? A position in the church? According to Matthew 21, that did not work for the chief priests and the elders. Is it nationality, gender, or race? Again, that was not the qualification for entrance here. So, who is it then that can be added to the family of God? Jesus very simply said, “and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.” It is those who have repented or turned their heart and believed.

Today, some believe it is their family, denomination, race, or goodness that will get them into heaven someday. However, it is still the same today: turn your heart to Jesus, believe, and receive.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What are you counting on for entrance into the family of God?

Feeling A Little Hungry

FEBRUARY 2, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 17-19 /  Matthew 21:1-22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 21:18-19 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

There are those who claim Jesus was not deity, not God. There are others who claim He was not a real man but rather God in the figure of a man. I believe today’s passage shows He was all God and all man.

When I rise in the morning, I am hungry. It is part of the human side of us, saying we need to refuel to be productive throughout the day. Some will eat more or less than others, but most feel the need to eat something. So did the man Jesus. However, Jesus used this opportunity to teach an eternal lesson by withering a fig tree. Yeah, I cannot do that. However, Jesus, being all God and all man, could. Jesus asked the disciples on another occasion, Who do you say I am?. Today, we might ask ourselves the same thing.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Who do we say Jesus is? God, Man, or 100% both?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

JANUARY 31 & February 1, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 15-16 /  Matthew 20

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 20:5-6 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As I read the parable in Matthew 20, I find something written there that we often overlook. Most see the end of the parable where the master gives to each the same, regardless of the time spent working. We all know His rewards are His to hand out as He sees fit, and that He is a fair and loving God. However, did you notice in verses 1-6, He was always looking for more idle folks to bless with work to do and payment for their labor? He never quit searching for just a few more.

God is still daily searching for just a few more to work in His harvest fields. He will be fair to all who answer that call.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you involved in His field today or idle?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?

Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are the things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, reread those passages for today’s reading. God has given your pastor exactly what He desires for you to have on that day.

Missing God’s Best Gifts

JANUARY 30, 2026
Daily Reading—Exodus 13-14 /  Matthew 19:16-30

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 19:30 But many that are first shall be last; and the last shall be first.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

I was at a church where the leader asked the group if someone would read a passage of scripture for the class. An older gentleman raised his hand. He was not dressed very well, smelled of cigarettes, was not shaven, and his hair was a mess. Looking at him, my first thought was, Oh no, this passage has a lot of big Hebrew names with which this poor old guy is really going to struggle. Then he opened his mouth and read with a beautiful, loud, clear tone, pronouncing every word with distinction. I was immediately ashamed of my thoughts toward him and asked God to forgive me.

How many times do we, not meaning to, judge someone on appearance and form a wrong opinion?

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Could we be missing the best gifts from God?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
