JULY 6, 2026—Sit With Me

Sit With Me

Acts 8:30-31 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

With all the versions of the Bible out there, which all claim to simplify and modernize the language, you would think that the Bible would be totally distributed to everyone and completely understood. Yet today, there is more Bible illiteracy than you might imagine. Many people have a bible; some even read it on occasion. Yet they do not seem to understand it.

Philip came upon a man who had God’s Word, was reading it, but did not understand it. He asked Philip, “Sit with me,” or in other words, teach me. There are many people today just like him. People who have a Bible. People you could help with understanding, but they are afraid to ask. Maybe all they need is someone to ask them a Bible question and take time to sit with them.

JULY 4 & 5, 2026—When We Are Really Free

When We Are Really Free

Acts 7:55-56 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God, And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.

Today, on July Fourth in the United States, we celebrate the Independence of our Country. Free to live apart from any other country’s rule or control. This is a freedom that many men and women have given their lives to defend. We thank them for their sacrifice.

In today’s verse, Stephen saw his freedom at hand. It says He looked up and saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. One day, we as believers will also see Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father. Today, if you are saved, you have been set free from the penalty and the price of sin. We will be really free when we are also set free from the presence of sin.

JULY 3, 2026—They Understood Not

They Understood Not

Acts 7:25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

Poor ol’ Moses. He smote an Egyptian, saved the Israelite boy, and still, the Jewish boys did not like him. It has long been said that Egypt in the Bible is a picture of this sinful world. God brought Israel out of Egypt, just as He brings those who come to know Him as Saviour out of sin and the world. Moses was trying to help, but the verse said, “they understood not.”

At times, when we try to help people break free from sin and the world, they turn on us. Why is that? Well, for the same reason, they understand not. Moses did finally lead Israel out of Egypt, but it took time. Friends, let’s not give up on those bound and enslaved by the world and sin. They may not understand why we do it, but we must keep on trying.

JULY 2, 2026—Dear Lord, If For Seven?

Dear Lord, If For Seven?

Acts 6:3-4 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business. But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Today in the church, it seems increasingly difficult to find men who will step up to do the Lord’s work. OK, we must be honest; it is hard to get them to church. Then we wonder why our country is in the condition it is in. We need men to be Godly men, and wives to encourage them to be so. I wonder if today we could find seven men to fill the roles outlined in Acts 6.

It reminds me of Abraham speaking to God about the destruction of Sodom when he said in Genesis 18:32, “And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.”

JULY 1, 2026—When Ridiculed, Rejoice

When Ridiculed, Rejoice

Acts 5:41-42 And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ.

If you were to pick the number one reason why people do not go soul-winning or share their faith, what might it be? Lack of time? Well, that is really an excuse more than a reason. People find time to do anything they really want to do. Lack of finances? Probably not, as it costs nothing to share your faith. Well, nothing except your ego. The main reason people do not share Christ is the thought of being ridiculed for their faith.

Rejoice! What a great crowd you have joined if you are ever ridiculed. It happened to Jesus, the Disciples, and many others. Acts 5:41-42 tells us how to react to such ridicule. Rejoice in being worthy first, and then, just keep sharing.
