APRIL 20, 2026—Except Ye Repent

Except Ye Repent

Luke 13:2-3 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things? I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

There is a teaching in some churches today called the “Grace Movement.” The belief is that it is by Grace you are saved and nothing else. While I do believe Ephesians 2:8, when it says, “For by grace are ye saved,” the next two words say, “through faith.” It is our faith in Jesus, who died on the cross to pay the price for our sin, that saves us. Not our faith in Jesus, that He is Jesus. If that were true, He would not have had to die.

Jesus did not die to free you from sin so you could remain in your sin. To repent means to turn away or turn around. Friend, “Except ye repent,” turn away from your sin and to Jesus, you will die in your sin. Jesus and sin are not in the same place. Our verse today says, “ye shall likewise perish.”

APRIL 18 & 19, 2026—Blessed Is The Servant

Blessed Is The Servant

Luke 12:42-43 And the Lord said, Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his lord shall make ruler over his household, to give them their portion of meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.

What is today’s passage in Luke 12 all about? Some look at it with fear of the outcome if they do not perform just right. Some read it and think it is about punishment for slackers. While others read over it, thinking it does not apply to them at all. I read it, maybe just a bit differently. I’m hung up on “Blessed is that Servant.”

I really am not concerned about not being prepared. I settled that when I asked Jesus into my heart. I am not even worried about not being rewarded. I am just thrilled I am in the story. “Blessed be the Servant.” It is my absolute privilege to serve the God of all the universe, and now He says to me, I am to be blessed. I am not trying to be a wise guy, but I am already blessed.

APRIL 17, 2026—You Can Win, And Still Lose

You Can Win, And Still Lose

Luke 12:15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.

People today buy more and more things. So much so that they rent places apart from home just to store all the extra things. Our closets are full, basements packed, garages overflowing, sheds filled to the roof, and we still think we need more stuff. Then later in life, we downsize. We sell off all those things at a fraction of the purchase price to a younger person who thinks they need it all, too. I wonder sometimes if it is not all the same stuff just floating from house to house.

The end of the matter is, when we die, none of that stuff will even matter. Jesus said our real life should not be filled with stuff; our life should be filled with HIM.

APRIL 16, 2026—Let God Wash The Inside

Let God Wash The Inside

Luke 11:39-40 And the Lord said unto him, Now do ye Pharisees make clean the outside of the cup and the platter; but your inward part is full of ravening and wickedness. Ye fools, did not he that made that which is without make that which is within also?

We may have all read this before and wondered why it is that the Pharisees did not clean the inside as well as the outside. When we think of a cup, we might think that it is possible, but how do you clean the inside of a platter? The answer is obvious: you cannot.

When men try to clean the inside of their lives on their own, they also find that, obviously, they cannot. Only God can clean the inside of our lives. Only a repentant, humbled heart, yielded to God, can be cleansed. We can wash the exterior, but only God can wash the sin away from the heart. According to 1 John 1:9, we all need to be run through God’s rinse cycle on occasion.

APRIL 15, 2026—The Best Gift

The Best Gift

Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

Children sometimes will open a gift at Christmas and suddenly get all excited. That is, until they see some other children open a different gift, and then they want that one instead. Even adults often think that what someone else received was a better gift than theirs.

However, after Christ, the greatest gift ever given was given by God. It is the same gift for every believer. It is the gift of the Holy Spirit. Without the Holy Spirit indwelling us, we are not saved. The Holy Spirit empowers us with our spiritual gifts. The Holy Spirit comforts and convicts us as needed. The Holy Spirit helps us in our prayer life and so much more. This is truly the best gift anyone can ever receive.
