SEPTEMBER 16, 2026—Cut It Out

Cut It Out

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.

In today’s verses, we find God’s desire for the church. But there is a phrase found only once in the New Testament that we do not use today. “Quit you like men.” At first, some may think Paul is saying, Quit acting like men. Actually, it’s just the opposite.

When I was young and did something that my mom wanted me to stop doing, she would say, “Quit. Cut it out.” My mom may not have known it, but she helped me understand what God was saying here. “Quit” means to be cut out. Paul is saying to be cut out like a man, to be brave and bold. We are told to watch for spiritual attacks, stand fast on God’s Word, be brave, bold, and strong, and do it all with love.
