MAY 11, 2026—He Saw A Saviour

He Saw A Saviour

Luke 23:42-43 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

What does it take to become a child of God? Some think it is church attendance. Attendance will help you grow in the Lord to be a better believer, but attendance alone will not save you. Many believe that if they are members of the right church or denomination, that will get them in. Yet the man in today’s verse never joined a formal church. Others think a sinner’s prayer saves our soul. Yet words without faith do nothing of the sort.

Why was the man on the cross next to Jesus assured a place in paradise? Because he saw Jesus as his Saviour and Redeemer. His heart cried out what his mouth did not say.

MAY 9 & 10, 2026—Everybody Wants Something

Everybody Wants Something

Luke 23:8 And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

When Herod saw Jesus, he was glad. Why was he glad? Was it because he was meeting the Messiah? NO! Would he ask for His advice on how to be a better leader? NO! The reason he wanted to see Jesus was to see the show. He heard Jesus had done many miracles, and Herod just wanted to see one happen.

Everyone wants something from Jesus. Some want Him to be their bodyguard and just watch out for them when troubles come. Some want Him to be like a grandparent and spoil them with things. Everybody wants something. Jesus is glad to watch over us and to give us the things we need in life. However, what He wants most of all is for us to just desire an intimate relationship with Him

MAY 8, 2026—To The End Of The Earth

To The End Of The Earth

Luke 22:33-34 And he said unto him, Lord, I am ready to go with thee, both into prison, and to death. And he said, I tell thee, Peter, the cock shall not crow this day, before that thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

When we accepted Christ as Saviour, for most, it was a moment of exuberance. Our sins are blotted out. Our name is written in the book of Life. With joy, we thought, I will follow God to the end of time. Then life happens, and we find ourselves in the midst of sin. Never planning to be there again, but there we are.

The disciples felt the same way about Jesus when they said, We will follow you anywhere. Jesus said, Within a day, you will not. I am so glad for 1 John 1:9, which says if we ask God to forgive us, He is always ready to do so. As much as we love God, He loves us more. He, too, wants us to go to the end of time with Him.

MAY 7, 2026—Pick Me, Pick Me

Pick Me, Pick Me

Luke 22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

When choosing teams for any sport, if you get around a bunch of kids, you will always hear the same thing. Pick me, pick me! Everyone wants to feel needed and special. Often, you will hear someone who is belittling their childhood say, “I was always the last one chosen for sports and games.”

Jesus tells us not to be concerned with who is first or last. Using Himself as an example, He asks, Who is greater, people at a table eating or servants serving the table? We might all say those who are dining. Then Jesus says, But I am here and am serving. None of us is greater than Jesus. Being a servant does not make us last; it is who we serve that matters.
