OCTOBER 31 & NOVEMBER 1—It’s Still Right To Be Polite

It’s Still Right To Be Polite

1 Timothy 5:1-2 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

One day, I pulled up to a drive-through restaurant where my wife and I occasionally enjoy ordering our meals. When I pulled ahead to pick up my order, the girl at the window said, “I knew it was you.” I asked, “How did you know?” She said, “You’re the only one who says ‘yes’ and ‘no,’ ‘ma’am,’ and ‘thank you’ anymore.”

The fact is, it seems that manners have often gone out the window today. The Bible says we are to respect older men and women and be kind-hearted to younger men and women. “Please and thank you,” “yes, sir,” “no, Sir,” and “Excuse me, please” are still recognized and appreciated. It is still right to be polite. Who knows, today you just might be recognized for it.
