GOD’S WORD:

Genesis 6:5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

GETTING INTO GOD’S WORD:

    I have seen many who wear as artwork in their jewelry or as a sticker on their tablets or laptops the “yin and yang” symbol. It looks like two commas, one black and the other white, facing each other and forming a circle. Inside the white section is a black dot, and inside the black section is a white dot. This symbol comes from old Chinese philosophy but has been adapted recently by the New Age thinking. The basic idea is that there are complimentary opposites for everything. Hot/Cold, Male/Female, Up/Down, Light/Dark, etc. The dots inside the shapes imply that inside of every evil, (the black space) there is a little good, (the white dot) and inside every good, (the white space) there is a little evil, (the black dot). The Bible however leads us to understand the saturation of sin in man is complete.

    Without Christ in our life, the imaginations of the heart of man are evil continually. Romans 3:10-12 says, “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” While we want to believe the heart of man is basically kind, the truth is in Jeremiah 17:9 it says, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Sin Saturates the heart of all man. 

GETTING GOD’S WORD INTO ME:

  If the Yin and Yang symbol could ever resemble any real truth, a person would have to be saved first. Then, with Christ inside, there is good in the heart of man. Even so, that goodness is never man, it is God in man.

Daily Reading – Genesis 3 – 5 / Matthew 2

GOD’S WORD:

Genesis 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden.

GETTING INTO GOD’S WORD:

    “What is the big deal?” “Who does it hurt anyway?” “I can live my life any way I choose to, it is not anybody’s business but my own.” These are just some of the things I have heard people say over the years trying to justify their sinful lifestyles. The mindset of man seems to be that my sin really only hurts me. While it is true that sin ultimately will be most harmful to the person committing the sin, it is not true that it only hurts them. Truth is that sin separates.

    In Genesis 3 we found sin separating man from the beautiful place God had prepared for them. God in His mercy took man from the garden to keep them from eating of the tree of life, and then living forever in their sinful state. In chapter 4 we find Cain removed from His family and friends because of his sinfulness. In Genesis 5:3 we find that Cain is also removed from even being listed as Adams firstborn son. However, the greatest separation recorded in these chapters is found in our verse today. Genesis 4:16 And Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the east of Eden. Cain is separated from the presence of God and lived in the land of Nod. The word Nod means “Wandering.” That my friend is the worst separation Sin causes in anyone’s life. He lived out his life wandering around without God. 

GETTING GOD’S WORD INTO ME:

Do not let sin separate you from friends and family. Do not let sin separate you from places you might want to go to. Most of all, do not let sin set you wandering on this planet separated from God who created you and loves you. 

Can anything be more horrible than that?

Daily Reading – Genesis 1 – 2 / Matthew 1

GOD’S WORD:

Genesis 1:27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

GETTING INTO GOD’S WORD:

    In the first few chapters of Genesis, we see several things. First, we see that earth and all its creation was all God’s idea. No Angel, including Lucifer, had any part in this grand creation that we enjoy today called earth. We also see that God needed no help in its creation. The Godhead, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, worked together in all creation. We see it in verse one when it says, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.” The original word used there for God is plural which shows the trinity at work. However, the greatest thing we notice in this passage is that God made man special.

    Man was created as a trinity in the image of God. Plants have life. They have a structure, or what we may think of as a body, but they have no soul or spirit. Animals, while they may appear similar to man are not the same. While animals also have life, a body, and self-consciousness, they have no God-consciousness. You do not find animals creating places of worship. Man, however, was made SPECIAL. Man has life, yet a life different from that of plants and animals. While we have a body and a self-consciousness, we also have the awareness of God. God breathed this special life into man. Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. You see, man is not the same as others in God’s creation. You’re SPECIAL! 

GETTING GOD’S WORD INTO ME:

  Remember, in all of God’s Creations, you were made to be like Him. We are not the ancestors of any other creation, nor the evolutionary product of time. We are created by God, and for God.

You are SPECIAL TO GOD?
