They Sometimes Will Lie!
December 2, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 120:2
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Life is hard enough on its own without someone adding to our troubles. We have the day-to-day task of living in a world filled with sin and trying to stay pure for the Lord. It appears almost impossible at times, with everything around us. On top of that, we get someone who tells stories about us or slanders our character with comments that are not true. It seems at times almost too much to bear. This sounds like what the Psalmist is saying in our verse today. Oh Lord, deliver me from those who lie and tell deceitful, untrue stories about me. Nevertheless, how can you protect yourself from it? Some people are just going to talk. Well, here are a couple of suggestions.

First, do as the Psalmist does here and pray for protection from these types of people. Ask God to protect your character from these types of attacks.

Second, have a character that is above reproach. Live your life daily so that if someone says something, no one will believe him or her. Their accusations just make them look silly.

Finally, pray for them. Do not just pray for God to keep them from you. Pray that He might also change their heart. They could be your next best friend.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Malicious gossip does not help anyone. No one ever looks bigger by ridiculing or making someone else look smaller. It only breaks up relationships, and the Bible says God hates it. Remember, the Bible does not say God hates the person, just the sin. If we do our part to live a godly life, lovingly pray for those who might tell tales, and turn it all over to the Lord, He will see us through.

Think about how you might handle your next encounter with a

talebearer in a Christ-honoring manner?

Bad Weather, Good News
December 1, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 38:22-23
And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone. Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Winter seems to be just around the corner. In fact, for some, it seems to be here now. The wind is blowing, and snow starts falling. The days go by so fast, as night comes earlier, and the morning sun sleeps in just a little longer. To some folks, this seems like a time of year that is dreary and sad. It is said that more suicides occur during the winter months than at any other time of the year. People let the elements affect their attitude.

However, we as Christians can look at it another way if we will. God so often uses the weather and the elements to show His awesome power and control. The wind, rain, hail, fire, waters, and yes, even the snow, are mentioned in the Bible several times. God has used them often to make sure people know He is God, and he controls all things, including nature. He is the only one who can control nature. He is the only one to direct the wind in the heavens above us. He is the only one to decide how much snow will fall and where. He controls the sun and moon and the amount of light we get each day. He is totally in control. Let this time of year just be a reminder in our lives that if He can control the weather, He can also control the situations in our lives.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

So, as you look out the window and see the wind blowing… See God. As you witness the snow falling… See God. As the daylight comes to an end… See God. Now, thank Him for the evidence that He is still there and still in control of everything. Let the elements control your attitude. Let them bring peace to your heart, knowing He is still there and still around to love you too.

When we look at nature, do we see God?

November 29 & 30, 2025 – Sing A New Song

Sing A New Song
November 29 & 30, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 36:26-27
A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

“There’s a New Song in My Heart” is a song we have sung in church for years. However, why is there a new song? Have you somehow suddenly got a craving for Psalms and Hymns? Did all your old musical tastes just suddenly go out the window? Well, if you are like most people with music, probably not completely.

Nevertheless, when you accept Christ as Saviour, there is a new desire to sing praises to God. Why? If you think about it for just a second, you will realize a song is a group of words someone put together to convey a certain idea or belief. Every song (that is any song worth anything at all) has some message. You might ask about concertos or sonnets, songs that seem to have no words. However, even these pieces of music seem to convey a mood the originator intended.

Why is there a new song in your heart? Well, the answer is very simple. Jesus now resides in your heart in the person of the Holy Spirit. In John 1:14, it says that Jesus, “the Word was made flesh.” Therefore, if Jesus is in your heart, there is a new set of words in your heart that tell a new story. It is a story of love, peace, joy, and eternal life. You have a new story in your heart. Therefore, you have a new song.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

A new composer has also written the story. God has put together a song that brings joy to your soul. Sing unto the Lord a new song. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord. Let all that have breath praise His name. There is a new song in our hearts. Sing it.

What song might you let fill your heart today?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

God’s Mercy
November 28, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 119:124
Deal with thy servant according unto thy mercy, and teach me thy statutes.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

What a brave soul it is, who looks into the face of a Holy God and says, “DEAL WITH ME.” Can you even think of walking into the courtroom of eternal life and looking at the Judge of all creation, who has the complete and true record of everything you have done, and saying, “DEAL WITH ME?” Not only does this Judge know the written record, but also every thought you have had, every word you have said, and every place you have gone. This Judge knows the deepest, darkest secrets about you.

Then, to make matters worse, the Judge has bound Himself to handing out only one of two sentences to every person who comes into His courtroom. You will receive a sentence of either life or death. Life, if you are one of those who are found sinless. Death if you are part of the number who is not.

Now you are standing before that Judge and saying, “DEAL WITH ME.” If God were to deal with us according to justice or give us what we deserve, we would all be bound for hell. However, because He deals with us according to His MERCY, we can find grace in the eyes of God through the applied sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God’s mercy is different from man’s mercy in that when God promises mercy, His promises are forever. When we accept His Son Jesus as our Saviour, we can count on everlasting kindness from the Creator of all things. The mercy of God is not explainable, but definitely attainable. “Thank you, God, for your mercy toward me.”

What can you do today that would make God’s role as Judge easier?

Be Thankful!
November 27, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 33:31-33
And they come unto thee as the people cometh, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness. And, lo, thou art unto them as a very lovely song of one that hath a pleasant voice, and can play well on an instrument: for they hear thy words, but they do them not. And when this cometh to pass, (lo, it will come,) then shall they know that a prophet hath been among them.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

During this time of the year, with several Holidays upon us, many Christians will try to share their faith with family and friends. Many families and friends will stand by and hear your lovely words. They will nod their heads and agree with their mouth, but as soon as the celebration is over, they will not have given their life to Christ, nor will anything change in their life.

What a time to rejoice and give thanks. WHAT, you might ask? Oh yes, it is a time to be very thankful to God. I am thankful it is not up to you or up to me to save a person. Salvation is the work of God. I rejoice, even though there are those who turn a deaf ear, there will also be those who listen and receive God’s love through His Son Jesus Christ. I am thankful that I will not be held accountable for what others do, only for what I do. I am thankful that a few times a year, God allows us the opportunity to share our faith and joy in Him, without feeling out of place in doing so. I am thankful that God will make Himself known in the hearts of people. Finally, I am thankful that, on occasion, He can use someone like me. We have so very much for which to be thankful.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

During this Holiday Season, let God use you. When sharing with family and friends what you are most thankful for, be sure to mention Christ and His saving power in your life. Mention that salvation is available to all. Let this be more than a Holiday, share Christ with others, and make it an occasion to remember.

Begin now to make a list. What are you most thankful for?
