Where Did That Come From?
NOVEMBER 3, 2026
Daily Reading—Jeremiah 26-29 / Titus 1
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
When reading the Bible, we hear it say that God did not give us a spirit of fear. You may be thinking, “Well then, where did my fear come from?” Good question.
First, the bible is not talking about just any fear. The fear of being hit by a semi if you stand in the middle of a highway is a good and relevant fear. Second, some fear comes from sin. There should be a fear of God, or reverence for who He is in our lives. To violate that love with sin should cause us concern. Yet in this passage, He’s speaking of the fear of being a witness for Him. Confidence and a sound mind come from knowing God is real, and His Word is powerful. The devil likes to cause you to fear rejection.
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
So, where do you think your fear comes from now?
IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:
Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
