MAY 23 & 24, 2026—The Bible

The Bible

John 5:46-47 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?.

There is so much controversy today over versions of the Bible. Which one is right and which one is wrong? As most of you know, I use the King James Version. It has been around for centuries, and I believe it is an accurate translation from the original manuscripts.

Do you know who really wins when we argue over which version is correct? God’s oldest enemy, the Devil. He has allowed people to get so confused by the debate of the versions of God’s Word that many people now question whether any version is really God’s Word. They have lost their trust in the Bible. Just like Jesus told the Jews in John 5:47, if you don’t believe the writings, how will you believe in Jesus.

MAY 22, 2026—There Is Always A Critic

There Is Always A Critic

John 5:9-10 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath. The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.

If you knew someone who had a crippling illness for 38 years and then was made well, what would be your first comment to them? Would you criticize the crumpled clothes they wore? Point out that they might want to shave and comb their hair? No, you would most likely be overjoyed that they were healed. Yet this is what was happening in today’s text, and the first thing he is confronted with is, “You are breaking a rule.”

Too often, we, as believers, have become so rule-oriented that we miss the blessings of God in people’s lives. Instead of taking some time to rejoice with them, we immediately tell them what they need to do next. While we may think we are helping, we are at the same time missing all the joy of the moment.

MAY 21, 2026—The Man Believed

The Man Believed

John 4:49-50 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.

I love this story of the man whose son was almost to die. He found Jesus and asked Him to come with him to heal his son. Jesus said, “Go thy way; thy son liveth.” I love the next line. “And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him.” No asking for proof, no additional begging, and no doubts of what was said; he simply believed the word of Jesus.

Too often, it seems as though people want God to prove Himself to them before they will believe. Jesus says, Believe and you will see many wonderful things. I wonder how many people will never accept Christ or see His wondrous work in their lives because they got it backwards?

MAY 20, 2026—They Knew He Was Coming

They Knew He Was Coming

John 4:25-26 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things. Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.

People often wonder about salvation in the Old Testament compared with salvation in the New Testament. It is really the same thing. Salvation is by faith in Christ, no matter when you are saved. Today, we look back to the cross of Calvary and Christ, the Messiah, who died for us there. The people of the Old Testament looked to a coming Messiah, as we see by the woman at the well’s statement to Jesus.

They knew He was coming because their scriptures had told them so. We know He is coming again because of the same truths written for us in God’s Word. They were waiting, watching, and looking for His appearance.

MAY 19, 2026—End Of Debate

End Of Debate

John 3:36 He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

There are many today who want to debate whether the god of other religions is the same God of those who put their faith in Christ. Is it possible that all roads lead to the same creator? The answer is NO.

If you believe the Bible contains the real words of the one true God, then today’s verse should end the debate. Other religions do not believe in Jesus as the Son of God. They have other prophets they follow or systems they practice to get to what they call god. If you believe this is really God’s Word, He said that if you do not believe in His Son, Jesus, you will not see everlasting life. That should end the debate.
