KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 3:29-30
Devise not evil against thy neighbour, seeing he dwelleth securely by thee. Strive not with a man without cause, if he have done thee no harm.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Blood boils, and tempers flare when someone else gets a promotion you have waited for and believe so much you deserve. You work, you try, you plan someday to have this job, then someone else just marches in from nowhere and takes it. For some reason, we are just as mad at the person who got the promotion as we are at the one who made what we see as a bad decision to put them there. Mad because someone else got ahead before we did. It may be possible, and even probable, that the person was not trying to hurt you. They were simply trying to get ahead in life the same as you. However, this does not seem to matter now, right? You say to yourself, “I am going to be mad at this person anyway.” We get the attitude “I will just stay mad at them and that will teach them to take my job!”

Sound silly? It is. However, it happens all the time. Getting angry with someone and not knowing why is wrong. Yet many people find themselves with pent-up anger at someone who had no control over a situation. It may also be someone they do not know. Why do people get this way? Their answer most likely will be something like, “I do not know, I just FEEL that way.” It makes a lot of sense, doesn’t it?

The Bible tells us not to be this way toward others, nor plan to hurt someone without cause. It is not right. It is not Biblical. It is not godly. Not to mention, most other people do not like people with this type of attitude. The fact is, others look at people who act this way as small, petty, self-centered, and negative. Sadly, they find themselves alone, unpopular, and often passed up for future advancements because of their bad attitude.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

When God opens the door for another (especially a brother or a sister in the Lord), do not reject them. Instead, rejoice with them, help, and encourage them. Who knows, they might be your leader someday and be able to help promote you to where God wants you to be. Even if that never happens, you receive a blessing just by obeying God’s Word. He is your leader, and He will be promoting you someday.

If you encourage someone who has just received a promotion over you,
how do you think that makes God look through you in their eyes?

They Sometimes Will Lie!

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 120:2
Deliver my soul, O LORD, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Life is hard enough on its own without someone adding to our troubles. We have the day-to-day task of living in a world filled with sin and trying to stay pure for the Lord. It appears almost impossible at times, with everything around us. On top of that, we get someone who tells stories about us or slanders our character with comments that are not true. It seems at times almost too much to bear. This sounds like what the Psalmist is saying in our verse today. Oh Lord, deliver me from those who lie and tell deceitful, untrue stories about me. Nevertheless, how can you protect yourself from it? Some people are just going to talk. Well, here are a couple of suggestions.

First, do as the Psalmist does here and pray for protection from these types of people. Ask God to protect your character from these types of attacks.

Second, have a character that is above reproach. Live your life daily so that if someone says something, no one will believe him or her. Their accusations just make them look silly.

Finally, pray for them. Do not just pray for God to keep them from you. Pray that He might also change their heart. They could be your next best friend.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Malicious gossip does not help anyone. No one ever looks bigger by ridiculing or making someone else look smaller. It only breaks up relationships, and the Bible says God hates it. Remember, the Bible does not say God hates the person, just the sin. If we do our part to live a godly life, lovingly pray for those who might tell tales, and turn it all over to the Lord, He will see us through.

Think about how you might handle your next encounter with a

talebearer in a Christ-honoring manner?

My Life Verse
November 26, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Hebrews 2:12
Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Years ago, my Pastor encouraged me to find a Bible verse that I might call my life verse. I thought at the time this would be almost impossible. Many verses in the Bible spoke of who I was to be and what I was to do. How could I pick just one? However, my Pastor had said this would be a good thing to do, so I set out to do as he suggested.

I began my quest by asking God to lead me to a verse that spoke to me about my mission in life, or especially spoke to me. Then I came across this verse. This was the perfect verse for me. At the time, I knew God was calling me into the Evangelistic Ministry. To sing and preach wherever He might open a door. This verse declared what I felt I should do then, and now. I am to declare Christ’s name to anyone and everyone and sing for the glory of God.

As I continued in the Evangelistic Ministry and then as a Pastor myself, this verse meant even more to me. I have the great privilege week after week of sharing with people I know, and who know me, the wonders of God’s Word. I am also blessed to be able to sing the praises of His name with and for the church.

What a blessing this verse has been and will forever continue to be in my life. What a great word of advice my Pastor shared with me on that day. Might I suggest that if you have never found a life verse for yourself, one that you know God speaks to your heart about, begin that search today? I know it will influence your life. It sure has mine.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I am not asking you to take this as your life verse. However, would you consider following its meaning on Sunday? As you gather with family and friends, would you declare His name unto your brethren and sing a song of praise to Him? As we think on Thanksgiving week, let us thank Him, most of all.

Do you have a verse you recognize as your Life Verse?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 119:71
It is good for me that I have been afflicted; that I might learn thy statutes.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Driving in most cities today requires considerably more concentration than in the past. This is due to several things. One, there are more drivers on the road today. If you go into any good-sized city around noon, you will know exactly what I mean. There are hundreds of people trying to get somewhere in a hurry. Two, I am getting older. My reflexes are not as quick as they used to be, and my patience seems to have shortened at times as well. Third, according to most drivers, everyone else on the road is stupid, except for them. So, with hundreds of people driving on the same roads, and many with short tempers, what keeps traffic going? It is the traffic laws. These laws tell us when and how long to wait at a light and who goes first at a four-way stop. There are hundreds of these laws written that we are supposed to know. Surprisingly, we seem to know most of them.

How did we get so smart? Was it by sitting down and memorizing all those laws? Well, for some, maybe, but most of us learned them by seeing that these laws made sense. We see reminder signs along the roads. We have found out how these laws work together for all of us. A special person with flashing lights on top of their car taught us some of the laws. If this happened to you, I bet you drove away thinking, “Oh boy, I learned another lesson!” Yeah right. You were most likely upset you were caught, just like everyone else. However, as we mature, most of us realize that even the laws we do not like have a purpose.

The same is true in life. When God allows things into our lives that hurt, it never seems fair. However, God teaches us something with every situation in life. Sometimes, He is simply saying, “Trust Me.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

With every trial in life, there is a lesson to be learned or a character to be developed. As God molds us into who He needs us to be, we must accept that He is doing this for His good first and ours also. He made all the statutes, or rules, so we could all get where we are going in life safely and according to His plan. The question here might be Where are you going? God will get you there if you let Him lead.

So, where is God leading you in life?

Where He Leads Me!

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Acts 23:11
And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever wanted to begin a new project, start, or update a ministry, and then you run into someone who says, “NO, I do not think you ought to do that!” When asked why, the response is like, “Well, I just don’t, I do not like it.”

How frustrating it can be for a Pastor or leader to hear well-meaning individuals share what appears to be childlike feelings. It seems there is a lack of prayer and absolutely no Biblical reasoning behind this type of response. How do you help someone understand the scriptural relevance of something if they are not in the scripture? If they operate on feelings, how can you show them the truth in the word? If God is directing you to do something and someone says, “No, I just do not like it,” what do you do?

Before today’s verse, by now in his service to the Lord, Paul must have felt this way. He finds himself in prison, facing possible execution, attacked on every side, and uncertain of what to do next. However, God came to him and said in essence, “You are not done yet; I have work for you to do in Rome.” Oh, how this must have brightened his day. Was he still being persecuted? Yes! Was he still incarcerated? Yes! Does he have any idea of how he is going to get out of this mess? Not really. Except, God said he was going to Rome. Therefore, he knew he was not done yet. They could now come at him with all their empty threats, for he knew they could not kill him. Why, because God said he was going to Rome. All he had to do was keep his eyes on God and follow His lead, and he could not lose. God will win over man every time.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Are you facing a struggle in life? Do you know that where God’s leading you is scriptural? Are you claiming the promises of His Word and not just your feelings? If you can answer yes to these questions, then take heart. God is not through with you yet. Believe the promises of God and move forward because Jesus Never Fails.

Where is God leading you?
