Get Your Story Straight

Mark 14:57-59 And there arose certain, and bare false witness against him, saying, We heard him say, I will destroy this temple that is made with hands, and within three days I will build another made without hands. But neither so did their witness agree together.

One way law enforcement officials determine whether a group of people is telling the truth is by placing them in separate rooms and asking them about the same story. If their stories line up, there is a good chance they are telling the truth. If not, they are probably lying.

The men accusing Christ in our verses could not get their stories straight. Why? because they were lying.

The world needs to hear the truth about Jesus Christ. It is so great to have the Word of God, which never contradicts itself. All the authors, at various times and places, tell the same story in all 66 books of the Bible. Why? It is the truth.

MARCH 17, 2026—Are We Sleeping?

Are We Sleeping?

Mark 14:37 And he cometh, and findeth them sleeping, and saith unto Peter, Simon, sleepest thou? couldest not thou watch one hour?

The disciples and Jesus had gone off into a quiet place where Jesus could pray. The hour was coming soon when He would lay down His life for all of mankind. In verse 34, He told the disciples of His agony and asked them to watch. Yet they fell asleep.

We, as believers today, are also to watch. It means to be alert. Jesus knew what was coming, but the disciples did not. God knows today what is coming, but we do not. Could this be the day He might save a friend of ours? Could this be the day He sends Christ for the saints? We truly do not know. What we do know is that we are to be alert. Watching for His return.

March 16, 2026—Is It I?

Is It I?

Mark 14:18-19 And as they sat and did eat, Jesus said, Verily I say unto you, One of you which eateth with me shall betray me. And they began to be sorrowful, and to say unto him one by one, Is it I? and another said, Is it I?

You would think that after walking with Jesus, living with Him, serving, and trusting in Him, the disciples would know if they loved Him or not. That after three years, they might know in their hearts if they would betray Him. Yet Jesus said one of them would betray Him, and they ALL asked the same question. “Is It I?”

That probably is a good question for us all to ask. You might be thinking, “What? I would never betray His love.” Yet, if we are honest with ourselves, how many of us can say we have never sinned? When we sin, we, in a sense, betray the love that Jesus displayed for us on the cross of Calvary. I am so glad we serve a loving, forgiving Lord and Saviour.

MARCH 12, 2026—The Great Foundation

The Great Foundation

Mark 12:10 And have ye not read this scripture; The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner:

Jesus was telling the Jewish religious leaders of the day that He knew they had rejected the prophets of old, and they would also reject and eventually kill Him. He then says, “The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.” In other words, you might reject me now, but someday you will find I am the foundation of all real life.

Many people still today reject Jesus as people did back then. There are those who put their faith in other religions and false gods. Some believe in wealth and status for life. However, there will come a day when every knee bows to Christ and will realize He is the Cornerstone of life eternal.

March 11, 2026—Whom Do You Fear Most?

Whom Do You Fear Most?

Mark 11:31-32 And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then did ye not believe him? But if we shall say, Of men; they feared the people: for all men counted John, that he was a prophet indeed.

Isn’t it amazing how far psychologically we have NOT come? You would think after thousands of years of God proving Himself in so many ways to be real, reliable, and also righteous, that we would choose God over man every time. The problem is that people want God to be a loving God, and He is, but they do not want Him to be a righteous God, because that means He must judge sin. Then, like the people in today’s text, too often we are more concerned with what man thinks of us than what God already knows about us.

It is time we begin to show some Holy Fear. Another way to say that would be we should show reverence toward a Holy God.
