KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 7:10-11
My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Lawyers often get a bad rap. They have been looked upon as dishonest, deceitful, and someone you can’t trust. Some of them may have earned that label by their tactics in the courtroom. Yet, it seems unfair to label them all this way. What a great feeling it would be, to walk into a courtroom with an attorney that everyone knows has never told a lie about one detail of one case ever. To have an attorney who would never take the case of a guilty person, only to defend them by manipulating the truth and hiding the fact of their guilt. A defender so honest that when they got in front of the judge instead of pleading their innocence, they would simply turn the guilty person over to the court for the punishment they deserved. Then, when the judgment is given, this advocate for justice would step up to the bench and say, “I will stand in their place and pay the debt owed.” Wouldn’t it be great if your legal defense were not only your defender when you are in the right but also the judge, passing down the sentence? This sounds almost impossible, right?

As believers, we have this defender. “Jesus.” Jesus is our advocate, or representative with the Father. He defends us against the evil accusation of Satan and the world. The word “defence” in our verse today means, “like a shield hovering over us to protect us.” However, this shield of protection goes two ways. Not only is He protecting the redeemed child of God, but He is also hunting out the evil that may be done against His people and judging it.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

How do the evil intentions against God’s church often end up? Frequently the trap laid for another will spring back to ensnare the setter. The anger and hostility aimed against another person will often settle in their own heart. They then live a bitter disgusted life because of their resentful work toward another. We should pray “Oh God that my heart would remain soft toward you and your will. That I might let only you be the judge of all, including me. AMEN.”

Have you ever witnessed this misguided anger backfire?

“WOW!!!”… Oooooh, Awwww

July 5 & 6, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Matthew 8:27
But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

“WOW!!!” … WOW would probably be a word we would use today to describe what the men were feeling when the Bible says they “marvelled.” It would be one of those glassy-eyed stares with your mouth wide-open sort of moments. You know, sort of like when a magician does a magic trick you cannot understand. You say oooooh, aww, and think, how did he do that? However, this was more than magic. Jesus was not trying to play a trick of any type on them. There was no sleight of hand here. This was a miracle.

Some in that day may have thought it to be part of a paranormal experience. That possibly Jesus was a witch or sorcerer, or maybe even a demon. However, Jesus proved that untrue as he cast out demons. No, this was not a demonic show.

Some may have thought He was one of the many gods people worshiped at the time. Nevertheless, He was continually pointing to one God, His Father in Heaven. He was not “a god.” He was and is today, “THE GOD.” They marveled, they ooohed, they awed, they stood in amazement at what Jesus could do. Because He did, what only He could do. Be GOD.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Do you remember when you realized you were a sinner? When did you understand that the only hope of your salvation was Jesus and His atoning blood from Calvary? Do you remember humbling your heart to Him and asking Him to forgive all your sins? Do you remember how you “marveled” at what He had done in that split second? Removing your sin and setting you free. Do you remember? That my friend was a real “WOW!!!” … Oooooh, Awwww moment in life. ONLY GOD CAN DO THAT!

do you remember that
“WOW!!!” … Oooooh, Awwww moment in your life?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

OUCH!!! Hey, Turn On A Light!

July 4, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 4:18-19
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble
.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever gotten up in the middle of the night, walked a few steps, and then, “BAM” you slammed your toe into something? Not something that has been moved there recently, but something that had been there all along and you just misjudged the distance in the dark. If you’re anything like me, just remembering those times brings shivers down your spine. Now just for the sake of completely ruining your day, let’s imagine you finally get over the shock and pain of slamming your toe, you take a few more steps, and “BAM” you do it again, to the same toe. Can you imagine the pain? Sure, you can, and you do not like the thought of it, right?

What caused the pain? Was it the furniture? NO! It had always been there. Was it your ability to walk? NO! You were walking just fine. (That is until you started hopping around holding your swollen toe.) So, what was it? It was simply your desire to try to make it to your destination without the light on. If you had turned on the light, the likelihood of you banging your toe would have been greatly reduced. Why, because with the light turned on you can clearly see everything around you.

A lost person lives this way daily. They crash into one sin after another. All because they refuse to allow the light of God’s Word to shine in their life.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Revelations 21 talks of never needing the sun in heaven because Jesus will be the light there. Those who are saved shall walk in that light. The good news for the saved is that we can walk in that light today. Psalm 119:105 says, Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” Jesus is the light of the world. If you will but trust Him and His Word, he will keep you from falling into the darkness of sin.

How has the light of God’s Word helped you this week?

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep
July 3, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 3:5
I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

To sleep, for most people, seems like such an easy thing to do. However, have you ever considered for a moment, just how sleep happens? You close your eyes, your mind sort of wanders off and your body rests. During this entire time, without one thought of your own, your heart continues to beat. Thump, thump, thump, thump, all through the night. You continue breathing, taking in the oxygen a body needs to survive, and yet you are not even aware of it. All your blood flows through miles of veins to all the parts of your body and yet you never helped it at all. You move around in the bed, toss, tumble, move your eyes, and never notice a thing. Some of you even talk and walk in your sleep and have no recollection of it at all. Almost one-third of each day without realizing it, you have given over total control of your body to God. In addition, if you are reading this, well, it is evident He did a fairly good job last night.

If we can trust God in our sleep to sustain our lives, why is it so hard when we are awake to allow Him the same amount of control? Oh yes, I know… because somehow, we think we can handle it now, right? Ever heard someone say about children, “They are such little angels when they are sleeping…” What they mean is they are not doing anything wrong at all. With God in total control, our days and nights could be so similar.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Whether we want to admit it or not, God is still in control during the day. If you think He is not in complete control, then take this little test. Stop what you are doing and make your blood stop flowing for just one second. Could not do it? God could if He wanted to. I told you He was in control. If He controls what you cannot do every day, why not let Him have control of what you can?

What might you allow God to do through you today?

When Is God’s Word Wrong? – NEVER!

June 30, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 30:12
There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

It seems in today’s culture more than ever before; sin has been made legitimate in the eyes of many. It has even been made to appear to be reasonable and thought of as ok in some of our main-line religious denominations.

The question must be asked, when did God give man the right to call sin ok? For example, for most people in America, the Bible was for centuries understood to be the final authority in truth. However, now when the Bible says homosexuality is a sin and the world says it is a lifestyle, who do we agree with? Many who believe that the Bible is always right are called intolerant. When the Bible says pre-marital sex is wrong and the world says, “They are consenting adults so who does it hurt,” we who trust God’s Holy Word to be right are looked upon as being narrow-minded. When the Bible says, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate,” and “strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life,” but the world says we are all alike and there are many roads that lead to God, we who maintain the Scripture to be accurate are looked upon as unable to see the bigger picture.

I guess if the rest of the Bible is not true, then probably those people who question God’s Word do not believe this verse either. “There is a generation that are pure in THEIR OWN EYES, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.” …. That cannot be this generation… Right? Or is it?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

If you find yourself choosing between what God has to say on a subject and what man says about the same subject, here is a thought to remember. God has been around a lot longer and knows a lot more than the person telling you that God is wrong. Hmmm!

Why do you think people believe other people over God?
