What Do You Want From God?

September 19, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 19:17
He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

“Feed the Hungry, Help the Children, Starving in Africa.” Every day, it seems there is a new relief program for some people group somewhere in the world. People on TV, Radio, in your mail, and e-mail are all asking for help for these starving, hurting people. They are all telling the truth, they do need help. However, millions of people, within our own countries, are also starving and homeless daily.

It is never a bad idea for anyone to help others in any part of the world. Still, I am afraid that for most people, when they put a dollar in an envelope to help, they miss out on the maximum blessings. If God returns to us exactly what we give to the poor and needy, even with the right heart motive, what can you expect from a dollar? I guess you could expect a dollar from God!

What if instead, you were to put your arms around someone and show them some love? If God returned to you exactly what you gave, what could you expect back from God? LOVE!

What do you think might happen if you took a little time out of your schedule to donate to a local shelter for the homeless? If you donate time, what would you get back? TIME.

How about if you spent a little time praying for someone in need? What should you get in return? You should get someone lifting you up to the attentive ear of God with your needs.

For a dollar, a dollar. For time–precious time. For prayer – sweet intercession with God. For Love – the love of, and from God, in return. What would you rather have…? A dollar?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Spend time with God today and ask Him how you might be able to be a benefit to those who are a little less fortunate than you are right now. My mom would say, “But by the grace of God, there go I.” We never know; it could very well be us one day.

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

John 19:36
For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Jesus spent His entire life on earth doing one thing: the will of His Father in Heaven. In doing so, He was also automatically fulfilling scripture. You see, the will of God in Heaven was for Jesus, His Son, to bear a continual witness to the fact that His Word is always true. Jesus lived, died, and rose again to fulfill the Old Testament scriptures, the very Words of God. Therefore, today, if we want to call ourselves Christians, which means to be Christ-like, we should be doing our best to live as Christ did.

Have you ever stopped to think, you should be living to fulfill the Words of God? Every day, be all you can be for the Lord to draw people unto Him. In fact, you are fulfilling scripture. No matter who you are or whether you are saved or not! God’s Word talks about a wide road, which leads to destruction. The Bible says many will follow that road. Look around today, and you will see that many are. On the other hand, it also speaks of another narrow road. You might, however, almost think of it as a path. This road leads to everlasting life. The Bible warns us that there will be few who find it. Scripture is being fulfilled as you live and breathe. The question would have to be, which road of scripture are you helping to fulfill?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

What a comfort to know every Word of God will be fulfilled as it is written. Comforting to those of us who know the Lord as our Saviour. There is a place in Heaven waiting for us. There is going to be a day that we shall be caught up with Him in the clouds. There will be a time of no more sin. What comfort that is. That is, unless you do not know Jesus.

What road are you on?

A Bright Spot, Even On A Cloudy Day

September 15, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

John 15:11
These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Wouldn’t it be grand to live our entire life with happiness and no sorrow? Don’t we just want every day to be a day at the zoo, a vacation to an amusement park, or a time on the beach? Life would seem so wonderful if we had no unhappy days. However, if we never had an unhappy day, then how would we know when we were having so much fun?

In our verse today, Jesus told his disciples, I shared my heart with you because I want you to know, you bring me joy. Jesus also wanted this day to bring them joy when they would think of Him. He was telling them that in the future, if you have a rough day and things are not going right, maybe you will remember me, and I can bring you joy.

The type of joy Jesus spoke of here is a joy we find in one another. It is about relationships. Even during a terrible day when everything seems to go wrong, I so much look forward to being with my wife. Just to talk with her and enjoy each other’s company. It truly brings joy to my heart just being around her.

Jesus found great joy in being with His disciples and doing His Father’s will. The reason the Bible teaches about this way of life is that God knew it would bring lasting joy to those who would just follow His leading. Jesus commands the disciples to be obedient to the words He has spoken to them. Why, because He knew it would bring them joy. Real joy. Everlasting joy

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Would you like your day to go a little better? Then think about this: Jesus came and died for your sin so you could have eternal life and joy. No matter how hard today may seem, it is just a speck in time compared to eternity with Him. Think about Jesus, He can bring you joy.

Will your day today be filled with joy in Jesus?

BENEFITS

September 13 & 14, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 68:19
Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Before starting most jobs, I would have a talk with the Human Resources Director. I would hear what my job was going to be, the building I would be working in, who my supervisor would be, and so on. Then we would get to the good stuff. MONEY! I mean, really, that is the reason I was there. First, I was told of my wage, overtime pay, unemployment, etc. Then they told me about my benefits. I would receive so many paid sick days, a profit-sharing program, paid insurance, paid holidays, a 401K package, and more. WOW, Benefits! I like that. Benefits were something extra that the company was not required by law to give me, but they are adding them to what I receive. Not only promised it to me, but they also wrote it in a contract with me that they must live up to. At this point, I have done nothing to deserve any of these benefits. Nevertheless, they believe I am going to work for them, so they are willing to give me benefits.

When I was saved, I asked God to free me from sin, cleanse me from unrighteousness, and come into my heart. I believed that the death and resurrection of Jesus, the Son of God, paid the price for my sinfulness. His Word promised that if I believed in Him, He would save me, and He did. Then came all the benefits! Not only did He save me and give me a home in heaven, but He also put joy in my heart, which cannot be explained. He gave me peace of mind and a song in my heart. He has given me wisdom to handle daily affairs, as well as a new purpose and direction to live for. He has taken old habits, freed me from their bondage, and given me freedom to live for Him. All the extra stuff I did not deserve. He wrote them all down in His Bible to show He would keep His word. BENEFITS!

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

What a joy it is to know Jesus loves us and wants us to receive all these benefits. The saved life is more than hope for tomorrow, it is peace and joy today. It is more than just salvation from hell, it is LIFE. Not just a life to come, but real life NOW. God daily loads us with BENEFITS!

Can you think of some of the BENEFITS God has blessed you with in life?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home, re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

It Is Not Us, It Is God They Do Not Like

September 12, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Micah 4:11-12
Now also many nations are gathered against thee, that say, Let her be defiled, and let our eye look upon Zion. But they know not the thoughts of the LORD, neither understand they his counsel: for he shall gather them as the sheaves into the floor.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Today, some countries would like to see America fall. Some feel this way because of vengeful hate or military reasons. Some feel this way because of our history of standing for the Bible and God. There have been terrorist attacks on the US, and one of the reasons given is that we are not believers in their form of religion. Even worse, there are people in the United States, citizens of this great country, who do not want us to be governed by the laws so plainly set up in scripture that have governed our country for decades.

The Bible tells us a house divided against itself cannot stand. With attacks from within and without, we must wonder, how much longer can this go on? History shares how nations once gathered against Israel and rejoiced at her fall. However, God was not done with her yet. Today, the country and people of Israel are a proud nation again. Nations will gather again at Armageddon against Israel. Nevertheless, God promises to defeat them again. Fighting, anger, hate, and wars are just what a lost, sinful world does. We are told there will be wars and rumors of wars until Christ returns. So then, will America be here forever? Who knows? People cannot know the perfect will of God for a nation. Only God knows what is coming tomorrow. Maybe that is why He told us not to take thought for the things tomorrow, just worry about today. God will take care of the world according to His will. He will also take care of you if you let Him.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

What might you do differently today if you knew there would not be a tomorrow? What might you say to that loved one or mate if you knew that tomorrow was not going to come? Why not say it today? If we begin to love one another like there was never going to be a tomorrow, who knows, it might just change the world. It will at least change yours!

What might you do differently today
if you knew there would not be a tomorrow?
