The World Goes Round And Round

JUNE 25, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 145:16 Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Is it just me or does it not seem somewhat amazing to you that everything on this planet is taken care of by God? The birds are given wisdom and supplies to make their nest and food enough to eat. The fish are given the globe for an aquarium to dwell in and some feed on microscopic particles that we cannot even see. Animals have all found different ways to make a home from caves, to burrows in the ground, or places in the trees. God supplies the rain, oxygen, and nutrients in the soil for plants and trees to grow. He gives us the right amount of cold, heat, sunlight, darkness, and seasons each year so even the wildest of plants flourish without anyone but God tending to them. From the smallest one cell organism to the entire planet and its multiple complexities, God created and sustains it all every minute of every day. As our verse today says He, “satisfiest the desire of every living thing.”

Do you know why he does all that? He does it for you. All that is created on this earth was given to man in Genesis. It was all created for you. Adam, Eve, and Satan spoiled some of it when they decided to disobey God. However, they could never destroy it all. God opens His hand and supplies for the living. From the intricate beauty of the smallest flower to the majestic span of all the stars in the sky, God created it for you to behold His wonders. The oxygen, food, and water needed to sustain life were all created by God for you.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In the New Testament God shares this truth with us another way when He says in Philippians 4:19 “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” He has, He is, and He always will supply for His own child. Real love is about giving. God has given this to you. He loves you.

Somebody Is Watching You!

JUNE 24, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

1 Kings 15:26 And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

It is so wonderful to see a newborn baby. To watch them grow and develop over the years. At about the age of three or four we start to see them do all kinds of things. Run, play, walk, and talk and talk and talk and talk. You can ask them just about anything and they will tell you the truth, as they know it. Sometimes we get more information than we bargained for or ever wanted to hear. However, if you watch children for a while you will begin to see in them the characteristics of their parents. Often these precious little one will suddenly do or say something, and you will hear someone say, “Where did they pick that up from?” Humm, that is a good question. The truth is they have likely heard or seen it somewhere. Children are so impressionable.

In our verse today, it says the king “walked in the way of his father.” Everything dad had done, the son saw as working well for dad, so he was just going to be like daddy. However, daddy had lived in sin. Now the son will be living in sin also. In addition, not only did he sin, but also, he was a leader of many and caused them all to sin. Who started that? Somebody’s daddy did.

It is so important for us to know that what we are doing before the children of this world might have a larger impact than we could ever imagine on the world to come. Live as if your life makes a difference. It does to someone.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As you look at your children or those around your neighborhood or church, think for a second, there could go a future pastor, teacher, governor, or president. Even more important than that is, there could go a future mom or dad. Help them with their impressionable years so they can make a difference for God someday.

JUNE 23, 2021 – There Is A Real Hell

2021-keywords-header-croppedThere Is A Real Hell

JUNE 23, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

I am sure you have said, or heard someone say, “This or that will happen, when Hell freezes over.” Can you imagine all the wild and crazy things people must have attached to that phrase? I will get married, sing a solo, give you my car, or whatever wild idea came up just before the phrase, “when Hell freezes over.” Living in Michigan most of my life there was kind of a joke about the phrase, “when Hell freezes over.” There is a city not far from where I lived in Michigan by the name of Hell. In the winter months, we would get a lot of snow, and as you may have guessed, sometimes Hell would actually freeze over. We were waiting to see if any of those promises would come true on that day. What a crazy day that would be.

Another phrase you hear concerning this place called Hell is, “Hell on Earth.” What a phrase. What a thought. Most often, when someone uses that phase, they are referring to something terrible happening. Like when the hurricane that ripped through the southern U.S. and destroyed entire cities, people said, it was like Hell on earth for some.

The hurricanes hitting may have seemed like the worst thing that could possibly happen to them. But as terrible as that was, or as bad as your worst possible day has been, it will not compare to the day when God and the angels ban Satan from Heaven, and he takes up residence on this earth. Friends that will be the closest people living on earth will ever come to real Hell on earth.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Good news, we do not have to be here when it happens. In Thessalonians, the Bible talks of the church being taken away before the tribulation period on earth. All we need to do is accept Christ as our Saviour before that day of real “Hell on Earth.” Some might say, “I will get my life right with God when Hell freezes over.” Well, Hell froze over in Michigan several times. Are you a real person of your word? Why not get things right today?

AWCHEW! – Oh! That Sounds Catchable

JUNE 22, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 22:24-25 Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

AWCHEW!!! That sneezing, coughing, hacking sound usually comes from a person with a cold. No matter how much we try not to, eventually we catch it. There are all kinds of antibacterial hand sanitizers and special soaps to help us keep our hands clean and free from germs that might cause this sickness. Nevertheless, stay around someone with the cold virus long enough, and you will get it, A COLD!

Oh, and how bad you feel when you do catch that nasty old cold. You cannot seem to think straight, you feel tired and achy, your head feels stuffy, and you just do not feel right. It makes me somewhat weary just thinking about it.

Solomon was trying to warn us of very much the same thing, but on a more personal level. I have heard the phrase, “You are who you hang around with.” It means if you want to see the kind of person you are, just look at who your closest friends are, that is you! Crazy people act crazy. Do you know why they act crazy? They act crazy because they have lost their mind! If you hang around with them long enough, you will lose yours too. Anger is the same way. Sit around with angry people long enough and you will become angry as well.

Solomon was saying do not hang around with angry, bad mouthed people. If you do, you will learn their ways and it will become a habit and a trap in your life. This too will make you tired, achy, and unable to think straight. You will just not feel right.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Maybe you are wondering how to get out of this trap? First, get away from the sickness, the crowd. You cannot get rid of a cold hanging around people with colds. Next, drink plenty of fluids. The Bible says it is the spring of Living Water. Finally, it is nice to have someone who will comfort you. My friend, you will be safe in the arms of Jesus. There is no greater physician than God.

Hands And Hearts

JUNE 21, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 141:1-2 LORD, I cry unto thee: make haste unto me; give ear unto my voice, when I cry unto thee. Let my prayer be set forth before thee as incense; and the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

There are those times in life when we may feel like the author of this Psalm. “Oh Lord, I need you to answer my prayer right now. Not five minutes from now, not tomorrow, but today!” We have all had those moments in life. However, did we come to the Lord as David did? The verse says, “the lifting up of my hands as the evening sacrifice.” What does that mean?

Some denominations lift their hands all the time. Others make no gestures at all in church, or in private from what we gather. Some teach that raising your hands is the only correct posture in which to approach God. Others say it is a prideful motion and people use it to simply draw attention to themselves and therefore it takes away from glorifying God. So, which is right?

It seems the ancient gesture in the Old Testament and in some New Testament churches was a sign of surrender and supplication. Total surrender in showing they had no weapons in their hands and a state of defenselessness. Supplication in that their hands were empty and waited upon God to fulfill their every need. Most believe it was then, and should still be today, an outward gesture to demonstrate the heart of the individual. A heart lifted to God and open to His will. The Bible records many postures for prayer and worship. The one thing God is always concerned with is your heart.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

So, is it right or wrong? Really, God cares more about your heart than your hands. Trying to show you are spiritual by lifting your hands does not impress God nor should it impress man. However, if it is a humble expression of your heart, raise them high. The most important matter is where is your heart with God?
