JULY 07, 2021 – The Perfect Attorney

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 7:10-11 My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Lawyers often get a bad rap. They have upon looked at as dishonest, deceitful, and someone you cannot trust. Some of them may have actually earned that label by their tactics in the courtroom. Yet, it seems unfair to label them all this way. What a great feeling it would be, to walk into a courtroom with an attorney that everyone knows has never told a lie about one detail of one case ever. To have an attorney who would never take the case of a guilty person, only to defend them by manipulating the truth and hiding the fact of their guilt. A defender so honest that when they got in front of the judge instead of pleading their innocence, they would simply turn the guilty person over to the court for the punishment they deserved. Then, when the judgment is given, this advocate for justice would step up to the bench and say, “I will stand in their place and pay the debt owed.” Wouldn’t it be great if your legal defense were not only your defender when you are in the right, but also the judge, passing down the sentence? This sounds almost impossible right?

As believers, we have this defender. “Jesus.” Jesus is our advocate, or representative with the Father. He defends us against the evil accusation of Satan and the world. The word “defence” in our verse today means, “like a shield hovering over us to protect us.” However, this shield of protection goes two ways. Not only is He protecting the redeemed child of God, but also, He is hunting out evil that may be done against His people and judging it.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

How do the evil intentions against God’s church often end up? Frequently the trap laid for another, will spring back to ensnare the setter. The anger and hostility used against another person will often settle in their own heart. They then live a bitter disgusted life because of their resentful work toward another. We should pray “Oh God that my heart would remain soft toward you and your will. That I might let only you be the judge of all, including me. AMEN.”

Stand Up For Jesus

JULY 06, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

2 Chronicles 18:12-13 And the messenger that went to call Micaiah spake to him, saying, Behold, the words of the prophets declare good to the king with one assent; let thy word therefore, I pray thee, be like one of theirs, and speak thou good. And Micaiah said, As the LORD liveth, even what my God saith, that will I speak.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Today the key to working with all the other religions in the world is tolerance. You must try to be tolerant of their beliefs, even if you know that their beliefs are in direct contrast with the Word of God. Various groups practice this sort of tolerance today with the hope that we can somehow all worship together. People will tell you that getting along, for getting along sake would be what Jesus would want, and what He would do. However, according to scripture my friend this is so untrue.

Jesus did not come into Jerusalem’s synagogues and tell all the religious leaders of their day that they were right. In fact, He called them hypocrites and vipers. Jesus did not think, “Well I just won’t say anything and then we will all get along.” No, rather He stated what the Father in Heaven had told Him to say.

The prophet Micaiah was in the very same situation that we find ourselves in often today. People just want us not to say anything, or at a minimum agree with what is wrong for the sake of harmony and ecumenicalism. When God’s Word is clear on a matter, we ought to be bold enough to say with love, “I am sorry, I cannot agree with you, the Word of God says different.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Stand Up, Stand Up for Jesus and be soldiers of the cross. When Jesus became your Lord, God the Father became your God, the Holy Spirit became your leader, and you became an ambassador. We must stand up for the truth. Jesus said, “I Am The Truth.” Pray God will give you the courage and also the compassion to lovingly, stand up for His Word.

JULY 05, 2021 – “WOW!!!” … Oooooh, Awwww

“WOW!!!” … Oooooh, Awwww

JULY 05, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Matthew 8:27 But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him!

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

“WOW!!!” … WOW would probably be a word we would use today to describe what the men were feeling when the Bible says they “marvelled.” It would be one of those glassy-eyed stares with your mouth wide-open sort of moments. You know, sort of like when a magician does a magic trick you cannot understand. You say oooooh, aww, and think, how did he do that? However, this was more than magic. Jesus was not trying to play a trick of any type on them. There was no sleight of hand here. This was a miracle.

Some in that day may have thought it to be part of a paranormal experience. That possibly Jesus was a witch or sorcerer, or maybe even a demon. However, Jesus proved that untrue as he cast out demons. No, this was not a demonic show.

Some may have thought He was one of the many gods people worshiped at the time. Nevertheless, He was continually pointing to one God, His Father in Heaven. He was not “a god.” He was and is today, “THE GOD.” They marveled, they ooohed, they awed, they stood in amazement at what Jesus could do. Because He did, what only He could do. Be GOD.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Do you remember when you realized you were a sinner? When you came to the understanding that the only hope of your salvation was Jesus and His atoning blood from Calvary? Do you remember humbling your heart to Him and asking Him to forgive all your sins? Do you remember how you “marveled” at what He had done in that split second? Removing your sin and setting you free. Do you remember? That my friend was a real “WOW!!!” … Oooooh, Awwww moment in life. ONLY GOD CAN DO THAT!

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

JULY 3 & 4, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 3:5 I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

To sleep, for most people, seems like such an easy thing to do. However, have you ever considered for a moment, just how does sleep happen? You close your eyes, your mind sort of wanders off and your body rests. During this entire time, without one thought of your own, your heart continues to beat. Thump, thump, thump, thump, all through the night. You continue breathing, taking in the oxygen a body needs to survive, and yet you are not even aware of it. All your blood flows through miles of veins to all the parts of your body and yet you never helped it at all. You move around in the bed, toss, tumble, move your eyes, and never notice a thing. Some of you even talk and walk in your sleep and have no recollection of it at all. Almost one third of each day without realizing it, you have given over total control of your body to God. In addition, if you are reading this, well, it is evident He did a fairly good job last night.

If we can trust God in our sleep to sustain our life, why is it so hard when we are awake to allow Him the same amount of control? Oh yea, I know… because somehow, we think we can handle it now, Right? Ever heard someone say about children, “They are such little angels when they are sleeping…” What they mean is they are not doing anything wrong at all. With God in total control, our days and nights could be so similar.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Whether we want to admit it or not, God is still in control during the day. If you think He is not in complete control, then take this little test. Stop what you are doing and make your blood stop flowing for just one second. Could not do it? God could if He wanted to. I told you He was in control. If He controls what you cannot every day, why not let Him have control of what you can.

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

It Is Good To Know He Is Always There

JULY 02, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

2 Chronicles 7:15 Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Children are such a blessing to watch. Whether they are yours or those of family and friends, they all eventually want to be independent. Well, sort of. At about one to two years of age, they begin to walk away from mom and dad just a little bit. They will often hold onto a table or the sofa, but all the while they are toddling around, they continue to look back at mom and dad with that drooling smile. Almost as if to say, “look at me, look what I can do, am I doing this right?” On the other hand, maybe their little eyes were saying, “Are you still there, are you still watching me? Because you know I might fall?” Then when they do fall, you step over and help them up, tell them it is ok and get them right back to walking just as they were before they fell.

As a child of God, we should be something like that. Always looking to our Heavenly Father saying, “Look at me, look what I can do, am I doing this right?” All the while also saying, “I always want to know your right there. You know I might fall.” The best thing is that when we do stumble in our Christian life and fall, He is right there to pick us up. He tells us it will be ok and teaches us why we fell. Then, He gets us right back to walking just the way we should.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God has told us that His eyes are upon us, and His ears are listening. It is so wonderful to know our Heavenly Father cares, and that He is always there. .
