Like The Sands Of Time…

OCTOBER 27, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 102:11 My days are like a shadow that declineth; and I am withered like grass.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Everything on earth seems to be decaying in some way or another. No matter what we look at around us, it has an end. Scientists will tell us that even solid rock is decaying. Small particles of it are blown around every day. Even if we cannot see it happening as it happens so slowly, it still happens

Our life appears to slip away in the same fashion. It appears we have so much time left to do what we want to do. Then suddenly we find ourselves older. We did not see ourselves getting older we just got older. Day-by-day, seconds of our life are blown out into eternity never to be recaptured again. Once you stop to look back at what you have accomplished, it seems as though there is so much more to do. However, you must wonder as did the psalmist, is my time almost up? Have I used all my days and now am about to be finished?

The answer to every age group is this. NO! Are you still drawing breath from the air God created? Then you are responsible to use that air for Him. You can still do the work of the Lord. I know it is an old cliché, but it is a good one. This really is the first day of the rest of your life. Do not let Satan discourage you about the past. Slap him in the face with your goals for the future. Kick him in the knee with your work for the Lord. God will tell you when your time is up and will do so in person when you get there. Do not give up, gear up, and live for the Lord. Do all you can from Him today so that when you look back on it tomorrow, you can do so with a smile on your face.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

We are temporal. We will not last on earth in this body forever. We are like the grass and a shadow in today’s verse. However, God is like the sun that never quits shinning. He always is, always was, and always will be. If you know the Lord as Saviour, He has promised that you will ever be with Him. YOU ARE NOT DONE YET! Do not live just to die. We must enjoy every moment as if we are dying to LIVE!

Tick Tock, Time Is Moving On

OCTOBER 26, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Job 7:1-2 Is there not an appointed time to man upon earth? are not his days also like the days of an hireling? As a servant earnestly desireth the shadow, and as an hireling looketh for the reward of his work:

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Tick – Tock, Tick – Tock. Time just keeps moving along. As it does, it takes us with it. There is no stopping time. No reversing time. No alterations in time. It just keeps moving moment by moment. God gives every person just so many hours on this earth and then… time is up.

As we get older, we are sort of like the servant, watching as the sun begins to fade as it is going down. As it goes down, we can see our shadow fall longer and longer covering more and more ground and we know our work is almost done, and soon it will be dark.

However, we also live as the hireling mentioned in our verse today. There is payment for our labor. Payment for our life lived out here on earth. A payment that is in direct proportion to how we lived our life while here. The question is, for what will you be rewarded? If you know Christ, your reward is waiting for you in heaven.

Then, when work is done and we meet our Saviour, it will be a day when you will see the REAL SON shine in all His glory. Jesus will shine all around you and there will be no more shadows, as you are standing there in the presence of the Lord.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

The Bible also tells us in Romans 6:23 the wages or the reward for sin is death. On the day you pass from this earth, if you do not know Jesus as your personal Saviour, your just reward is eternal separation from the SON. This was your choice by not accepting Him as Saviour while on earth. However, Romans 6:23 also says the gift of God is eternal life. How you will face eternity is your choice. How will you see Jesus? Will Jesus be your Reward Bearer or your Eternal Judge? Just remember, Tick – tock, time is moving on.

Paul Gives Some Good Advice

OCTOBER 25, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Whenever a person thinks it could be the very last time, they might be able to talk with someone, they often try to leave them with a little good advice. In First Corinthians, Paul has had to take a firm stance with some young Christians. He has let them know that some of the things they were doing were just wrong and needed to be stopped. However, at the end of the letter he tells them exactly what they need to do. In addition, what we as well should be doing today.

WATCH: Keep your eyes open and looking out for sin. It is everywhere. Also, be looking for Jesus. He is coming soon.

STAND: When you are confronted with sin, stand in your faith in Christ, and His strength.

QUIT YOU LIKE MEN: today we would say, Act like a man (or woman) of God. Be proud of whom you are in Him.

BE STRONG: Be empowered. Act like someone who is given authority under a great leader. After all, as a Christian you are.

DO EVERYTHING WITH CHARITY: While watching and standing in Christ, knowing He has empowered you, also treat everyone with love. Jesus loves everyone. That is why He came and died for them, just as He did for you and I who believe in Him today.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Christian, in today’s world we must take a stand against sin but love the sinners. Jesus said it best from the cross. “Father, forgive them for they know not what they do.”

Is God Still Listening?

OCTOBER 23 & 24, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 99:8 Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

People wonder if God is listening sometimes when they pray. Does He still hear you when you speak with Him? Well, the answer is within you. Does God answer your prayers? Have you seen results in others’ lives because of your prayers? If not, it may not be God is not listening, but for a time He may have quit answering. We serve a God who answers prayer. We also serve a God who forgives of sin. Most of all we serve a fair, just, and Holy God. It may be we are praying for our own fleshly desires. God does not always answer those prayers as we would like. It may be it is simply not God’s timing to grant our petition in prayer right now. Then again, there is the possibility that there is something hindering our prayers.

We must be willing to find and face our circumstances and our sin. Then, when we know what is wrong, if need be, we must be willing to repent and forsake our sin. If we refuse, there may be times in which God allows us to see our prayers go unanswered. He has not quit listening. He has just quit answering. Psalm 66:8 says, “if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” Also in 1 Peter 3:7 it says, “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” Could there be something hindering your prayer life? He is still listening and still answering prayers. He is a God who never changes.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

If you are not seeing your prayers answered and would like to see one answered quickly, try this one. “Oh Lord, if there is anything I need to confess which is hindering my prayer life, please reveal it to me now so I can have the fellowship with you again that I once had before.” Now listen to the Lord. It is up to you to be obedient to the leading of the Lord through His Holy Spirit which is in you, and the reading of the Word of God. The Lord was listening, now, are you?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

Hear Us Oh Lord!

OCTOBER 22, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Daniel 9:19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Daniel cried out to the Lord for the children of Israel in a time when they were in bondage and it seemed there was no hope, and no way out. However, as we know today there was hope, and God delivered them.

As believers in this same God, should not we be praying this same prayer today for our nation, which is now in the grips of sinful lifestyles and disobedience to God’s Word?

“O Lord, hear”…. However, God does not hear if we are not
talking. We need to be in prayer for our nation.

“O Lord, forgive”…. In our talking, we need to repent for not
always taking Him seriously and the Word of God as our
       infallible guide.

“O Lord, hearken and do; defer not”…. As God leads, we
        should be following.

There is precious little time left. For thy people who are called by thy name…. Christians. Christians, if we do not do what is right, who will?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

It is far past time to simply pray. It is time to beg and plead with God for His mercy on a sinful people. For His grace toward those who have disobeyed. Thankfully, He has always loved us, and He always will. However, we dare not confuse His love with a tolerance for sin. It is time to PRAY!
