  Put Your Good Clothes On

DECEMBER 27, 2022
Daily Reading – Zechariah 1-5 / Revelation 19

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 19:8 And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    When I was a little boy, I had some clothes I wore on Sundays and others I wore at other times. On Sunday morning my mom would say, “Get cleaned up and put your good clothes on for church.” After church I would hear, “Take off your good clothes before you go out to play.” The clothes were considered special, and I only wore them on special occasions like church.

    Someday I will be included at the marriage supper of the lamb. My good clothes for that day are already laid out and ready for me. Revelations 19:8 tells us “…the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.” I cannot go in my righteousness as it is soiled by sin. For my best, I will be clothed in the spotless righteousness of Christ.

How Quickly Things Change

Daily Reading – Haggai / Revelation 18

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 18:19 And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    As we leave this year’s Christmas behind, most are planning for a new year. In just a few days, this year will pass into the history books and a new year will begin. The prospect of a new year makes many begin to think of what they might do differently this coming year. Many of those plans will be tied to our work, our homes, family, and health. Yet with one tornado, hurricane, windstorm, earthquake, lightning bolt, tsunami, or terror attack, all plans can quickly change.

    In Revelation 18 we read how a great city that many had pinned all their hopes on was destroyed in one hour. However, when the dust cleared, God was still God, Jesus was still Lord, The Holy Spirit was still present.

What will you pin our hopes on next year?

Daily Reading – Zephaniah / Revelation 16-17

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Have you ever gone to a store and felt you have been mistreated? Maybe at the checkout a clerk was rude and disrespectful. So, you find the store manager only to find that they do not care either. When you get home, you find the corporate address and write a letter. Not long after, you receive a letter of apology, coupons, and an assurance this will never happen again. What is the difference? The owner sincerely cares about the store’s reputation and its customers.

    Satan may be causing a lot of problems today in this old world. However, the owner has been notified. There is coming a day when the King of all kings and Lord of all lords, who cares very much for you and His testimony will say enough. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Won’t that be a day?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

     On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

Christmas Music Is Special

Daily Reading – Habakkuk / Revelation 14-15

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    In a manger bed in a little town called Bethlehem, though it may seem so long ago now, something miraculous happened. Jesus was born. On December 25 every year, most countries honor His birth. During this season, unlike any other, you can walk into many public places and hear songs about Him. Television and radio programming, which normally never speak His name, play music that exalts our Lord. Songs such as O Holy Night, Silent Night-Holy Night, O Little Town of Bethlehem, and many more. It is all about Him!

    This happens for no other person ever born in all of history. Because there has never been anyone like Him, ever. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t it wonderful to know when we get to heaven,
they’ll still be singing all about Him?

  Don’t Be Fooled By Tricks

Daily Reading – Nahum / Revelation 12-13

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    People have always been amazed by what they cannot explain. Magicians are really just illusionists who make you think you are seeing something that really you are not. In the past I have watched some great illusionists and asked myself, “How did they do that?” I honestly believe that most are just very good at sleight of hand. I also believe that some may simply be demonically empowered. We must be honest, what they are able to do, makes us want to see it again and again. However, remember, tricks are just tricks.
    The devil is also a trickster. He has been tricking people for centuries into following him by his deceptive practices. He did it in the Garden of Eden, and he will be doing it until then end. 

WHAT WILL YOU DO:
