Is Your Name Written Down?

APRIL 13, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 23-24 / Luke 10:1-24

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Luke 10:1 says Jesus sent out seventy disciples to let people know He was coming. To validate who they were and who sent them He gave them powers to cast out demons and heal the sick. Their purpose, as is ours today, was to tell people of Jesus’ soon coming.

When they got back all they could talk about was the demons running from them. In Luke 10:20 Jesus says, do not be so surprised demons flee from you. I gave you that power when you left. If you want to marvel at something, rejoice that your name is written in the book of life. That is truly the bigger miracle.

People get all excited over signs and wonders, when the greatest miracle of all time is the fact that Jesus saved us from our sin, and our name is written down in the Heaven.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Is your name written down today?

APRIL 12, 2022 – Fear Not

Fear Not

APRIL 12, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 21-22 / Luke 9:28-62

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 9:56 For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Sadly, many people live in fear of God. They think of God as vengeful. As though He is sitting in heaven waiting to punish people for every little thing they do wrong.

Think about that for a second. If God wanted to hurt us for our sins, couldn’t He have done that any day of the week? Truthfully, most of us unwittingly or willingly violate God’s law and sin against Him often. We should not want to sin, but we live in a sin filled world. If God really wanted to get us, He could.

Today’s verse tells us more about who God really is. He is not out to destroy us, but to save us. Save us eternally from hell, and also from sin, self, and Satan. You serve a loving God, not a vengeful God.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Listen, can you almost hear God saying FEAR NOT?

Enough For Today

APRIL 11, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 18-20 / Luke 9:1-27

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 9:17 And they did eat, and were all filled: and there was taken up of fragments that remained to them twelve baskets.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

For the most part, people are planners. I must admit, I am a planner too. I plan everything. At this stage of life, I am thinking of plans for the day I leave this world to be with the Lord. I do not want my departure to be a burden on those left behind.

The Bible encourages us to plan and prepare. However, there are times that we need to be happy with what God provided today.

Jesus does not always promise to tell us what lies ahead. He does however say He will never leave us nor forsake us. We may not always see His hand of provisions for the weeks and months ahead, but He always seems to provide enough for today, and most often a little extra.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Could it be we sometimes plan to far ahead of God and miss the blessing of today?

APRIL 8, 2022 – The Seed

The Seed

APRIL 8, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 12-14 / Luke 8:1-40

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

It is that time of year when people begin to plan what their garden and landscaping will look like. At least what we hope it will look like. Once we plan, we then must plant the seeds. However, you cannot just plant any seed and hope to grow a daisy. You must purchase daisy seeds, put them in good soil, and plant them as instructed in order to grow healthy daises.

Many people today believe people are just going to somehow get saved. That they will somehow go to heaven when they die. However, if you want to see the life of Christ in a person you need to first plant the right seed.

Our verse today says the seed that Jesus spoke of which brought about real eternal life is the Word of God. Some things never change. God’s Word is one of them.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What are you planting this year?

APRIL 7, 2022 – A Little Or A Lot

A Little Or A Lot

APRIL 7, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 10-11 / Luke 7:36-50

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

How much do we love God? According to today’s passage in Luke, it may depend on how much we think we were forgiven. If we think we are not that bad and that God only had to forgive just a little bit of sin to save us, we may only love God a little.

However, if we ever get the true picture of the sinfulness of our soul, when God through the precious blood of His Son, washed away our sins, we will love Him a lot. We must remember, at our best we are as filthy rags before the perfect righteousness of a Holy God.

Imagine a white shirt. Now spill gravy on just one spot. What shows up, the clean shirt or the spot? It is the filthiness of the spot that gets the attention. Is the shirt now clean or dirty? It takes very little sin for us to be totally filthy.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How much do you love God now?
