Those In Authority Over Us
October 24, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 24:21
My son, fear thou the LORD and the king: and meddle not with them that are given to change:

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

The Word of God has all the information we need to live every day peacefully here in this world. One thing God has told us through His Word is that we need to fear Him. This means we are to have a holy respect and reverence for who He is and what He stands for. For the most part, people do not have a problem doing just that. Most everyone you speak with will tell you they believe in and hold in high esteem our creator God. Yet, our verse today says we are also to treat the king in the same way.

At the time of the writing of this verse, the leader of the nation was the king. Under the king’s authority were also rulers who were given power by him. Today, for those of us in the United States, this would be our President and those in authority over us. Such people as the Governor and Mayor are also to be given the same consideration. So, if I asked you today, do you reverence your government leaders in the same way you reverence God, what would be your answer? This means to have respect for who they are. You see, God has placed them in authority, and to disrespect them is to disrespect God. We are also not to give time to or meddle with those who decide there is a better way to live day by day. Those who do not want to respect our leaders or our God.

Makes you think, right? If you are not happy with your leadership, then vote next time. Vote your beliefs and morals, and not your wallet or party. God uses us to place in authority over us those who should lead. Pray every day for the leaders of our land.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I know right now some are saying, “Well, that is the Old Testament, and we are no longer under the law but under grace.” You are right. However, let me share a New Testament verse with you. Romans 13:1 says, “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.” WOW, it is also in the New Testament! Let’s just live, as God wants us to. Begin to pray for your leaders. Whether you like their policies or not, they need your prayers.

How do you view the Word of God on politics?

Is God Still Listening?
October 23, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 99:8
Thou answeredst them, O LORD our God: thou wast a God that forgavest them, though thou tookest vengeance of their inventions.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

People wonder if God is listening sometimes when they pray. Does He still hear you when you speak with Him? Well, the answer is within you. Does God answer your prayers? Have you seen results in others’ lives because of your prayers? If not, it may not be that God is not listening, but for a time, He may have quit answering. We serve a God who answers prayer. We also serve a God who forgives sin. Most of all, we serve a fair, just, and Holy God. It may be that we are praying for our fleshly desires. God does not always answer those prayers as we would like. It may be that it is simply not God’s timing to grant our petition in prayer right now. Then again, there is the possibility that something is hindering our prayers.

We must be willing to find and face our circumstances and our sins. Then, when we know what is wrong, if need be, we must be willing to repent and forsake our sins. If we refuse, there may be times when God allows us to see our prayers go unanswered. He has not quit listening. He has just quit answering. Psalm 66:8 says, if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:” Also 1 Peter 3:7 says, Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.” Could something be hindering your prayer life? He is still listening and still answering prayers. He is a God who never changes.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

If you are not seeing your prayers answered and would like to see one answered quickly, try this one. “Oh Lord, if there is anything I need to confess that is hindering my prayer life, please reveal it to me now so I can have the fellowship with you again that I once had before.” Now listen to the Lord. It is up to you to be obedient to the leading of the Lord through His Holy Spirit, which is in you, and the reading of the Word of God.

The Lord was listening, now, are you?

Hear Us, Oh Lord!
October 22, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Daniel 9:19
O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Daniel cried out to the Lord for the children of Israel in a time when they were in bondage, and it seemed there was no hope, and no way out. However, as we know today, there was hope, and God delivered them.

As believers in this same God, should we not be praying this same prayer today for our nation, which is now in the grips of sinful lifestyles and disobedience to God’s Word?

“O Lord, hear”…. However, God does not hear if we are not talking.
We need to be in prayer for our nation.

“O Lord, forgive”…. In our talking, we need to repent for not always taking Him seriously
and the Word of God as our
 infallible guide.

“O Lord, hearken and do; defer not”…. As God leads, we should be following.

There is precious little time left. For thy people who are called by thy name… Christians. Christians, if we do not do what is right, who will?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

It is far past time to simply pray. It is time to beg and plead with God for His mercy on a sinful people. For His grace toward those who have disobeyed. Thankfully, He has always loved us, and He always will. However, we dare not confuse His love with a tolerance for sin. It is time to PRAY!

Will you spend an extra few minutes today to pray for your nation?

Is It Right To Join In Sin To Reach Others?
October 21, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

1 Corinthians 9:27
But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

There are many ministries out there today. Some of them are great humanitarian works. Some are wonderful evangelistic endeavors. Some are simply excuses for living in sin and calling it of God. I read not too long ago in our local paper about a man who opened a bar called “The Bible Bar.” The article stated that he hoped to have the opportunity to witness to people when they came in for a drink. Therefore, his theory seems to be to feed them with their addiction and win them to Christ.

People say they can work within sinful occupations and not sin. How can this be? If you are not leading people to Christ with your life and actions, you are leading them away from Christ. Imagine this. I am standing in the center of a room, and you are standing at the door of that room. Can you go into the room and out of the room at the same time and still arrive where I am? The answer is obvious, of course not. To get to me, you would need to come into the room. One, only one direction leads to me. Neither can you lead someone out of and into sin at the same time. In today’s verse, Paul says he keeps himself under subjection. Meaning he watched what he said, what he did, and where he went. He did this so no one could ever say, “Paul’s testimony is the same as mine, so why do I need Christ?” If they could say their testimonies were the same, it could make all the things Paul preached about Christ untrustworthy, and his words could be cast off as unbelievable.

We are responsible for how and where we lead people in the name of Christ. Where are you leading people today?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Today is the first day of the rest of your life. Heard that before? Well, let’s change it just a bit. Today is the first day of your testimony. That is a fact. What you do today, people will remember for a long time. So, what are you going to do with your testimony today? Does it glorify God?

What will you do with your testimony today?

Whom Do We Serve?
October 20, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 20:6
Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

We live in a “ME FIRST” world today. What is in it for ME? That is the question on everyone’s mind.

However, if we can find a way to get our eyes off ourselves and keep our eyes on our Saviour, we will usually find there is a positive answer, even during our greatest difficulties. Even if there is no financial or earthly reward of any type, there will be that reward in heaven if you aim to serve the Lord.

But, if we look to serve the “ME FIRST” inside us, the situations in life will always look bleak. You will find yourself saying things like, “Oh, poor ME,” “Look what they have done to ME,” “Nobody ever likes ME,” and “What is in it for ME.”

The Bible tells us we should not be looking for the answer to what is in it for ME. It teaches the opposite. We should be asking, what is in it for THEM? Not what can I get, but what can I give? How can I serve? How can I help? What can I do to make the Christian Life better for another? Can I be an example to a child looking for leadership? Might I be able to encourage an adult who struggling with life and their walk with God? Could I share the gospel with another lost person who needs someone to lead and guide them to Christ?

The verse we read today asks a question that is true even now. “A FAITHFUL Man… who can find?” Is there someone who will commit his or her ways to the Lord and follow faithfully? Not just in good and fun times, but all the time. Knowing that God’s rewards are better than man’s rewards any day. Could that person be you?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

It is not about our goodness, our talents, our needs, or even our wants. It is about serving Jesus Christ. No matter what your trial is, it is not as bad as dying on a cross. That is what Jesus did for you. What are you facing that could possibly be that bad?

What are you doing for Him?
