SEPTEMBER 19 & 20—She’s Looking At Me Funny

She’s Looking At Me Funny

2 Corinthians 4:17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

If you are ever around 3-5-year-olds for very long, you have heard, “He touched me,” “That’s mine,” “It’s my toy,” and “She’s looking at me.” If it were not for the crying and whining accompanying it, it might be funny. But no one likes to hear adults cry and whine.

Many Christians are much like these little ones when it comes to witnessing. Excuses like, “They will think I am a religious nut.” I wonder what kind of nut they think you are if you say you’re a Christian, but don’t tell them of Christ. Or you will hear, “I do not talk well to people.” I take offense at that. They must not think I am a person, as they just spoke to me. Listen, no matter what people say here on earth, soon all believers will be going to heaven.

SEPTEMBER 18, 2026—Joy Is Contagious

Joy Is Contagious

2 Corinthians 2:1-2 But I determined this with myself, that I would not come again to you in heaviness. For if I make you sorry, who is he then that maketh me glad, but the same which is made sorry by me?

You look across a room and see someone yawn. It is not long until you find yourself yawning as well. You were not even tired until you saw them yawn. However, the power of suggestion is contagious.

Paul says to the church in Corinth, If I make you sad, then how can you comfort me? If you are sad, then you are going to make me sad. In 1 Cor. 2:3, he says, “that my joy is the joy of you all,” or, when you are happy, you make me happy. When we criticize and hurt others with whom we fellowship, their sorrow will, in turn, cause our sadness. Yet, if we encourage and bring joy into others’ lives, we, in turn, uplift ourselves. Joy is contagious.

SEPTEMBER 17, 2026—Why Did This Happen To Me

Why Did This Happen To Me

2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Over the years, I have seen many good Christians go through some terrible life ordeals. I watched as they have been ill, lost jobs, lost loved ones, and seen a child go astray, and the list goes on. I am often asked, “Why did this happen to me?” What they are saying is: “I have lived my life for the Lord; why am I going through this?”

While there are several possible answers, one may be found in today’s verse. It says God will see you through your trial and that He may be planning to use you to comfort someone else down the road. When trials come in life, it is good to have a friend who has been there and knows how you feel.

SEPTEMBER 16, 2026—Cut It Out

Cut It Out

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong. Let all your things be done with charity.

In today’s verses, we find God’s desire for the church. But there is a phrase found only once in the New Testament that we do not use today. “Quit you like men.” At first, some may think Paul is saying, Quit acting like men. Actually, it’s just the opposite.

When I was young and did something that my mom wanted me to stop doing, she would say, “Quit. Cut it out.” My mom may not have known it, but she helped me understand what God was saying here. “Quit” means to be cut out. Paul is saying to be cut out like a man, to be brave and bold. We are told to watch for spiritual attacks, stand fast on God’s Word, be brave, bold, and strong, and do it all with love.

SEPTEMBER 15, 2026—Do You Think It Will Matter

Do You Think It Will Matter

1 Corinthians 15:54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

We all wonder what life will be like in heaven. What will we look like? How old are we? Will we recognize everyone? The Bible leaves some things a bit of a mystery. We do know in the Bible that all who died and are seen in eternity are recognizable as they were. We, by faith, trust God has all things planned out well.

What we can know is this. The Bible says THIS corruptible will put on incorruption. In other words, this sinful body and life will have shed its desire for sin and be made sinless on that day. It also says this mortal shall be made immortal. This decaying body will be made to live eternally. It says, “Death is swallowed up in victory.”
