I Finally Know It All

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 5:6
Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Read this story as if you were saying these things. Are you ready? OK, let’s begin: Ok, now that I am ___ (You fill in the age, and be honest,) I finally understand life. I did not understand it a year ago, three years ago, or five years ago. However, today I am sure I have it all figured out. Look at all the things I have learned from life. Those poor people who are not my age yet, when will they ever learn? Then there are all those people who are older than I am, trying to tell me that this or that will not work. Where do those older people get off anyway? Older people have no idea what is happening today in today’s social and economic market. They are so old-fashioned.

Sound familiar? At several points in life, we think we have finally mastered life. If you are honest, you have probably felt this way a time or two as well. Then, just when you finally think you have it worked out, the bottom falls out of your dream or idea. Still, life continues to move along even though things seem to have changed for absolutely no reason. I saw a poster once with a frog sitting on a lily pad looking at another lily pad a way off, and the caption read, “Just when you think you can make ends meet, someone moves the ends!” Oh, how true it seems to be. Why must life be this way?

Well, one reason is that the world collectively does not love you. They really do not even like you. You are a person in their scheme of getting ahead. PROGRESS, not people, is what the world seems to care about today. When you are no longer helping them make progress, you become expendable. Today, we see this all too often. There is very little of what we might recognize as stability in today’s world. Nothing seems to be sure anymore. Nevertheless, one thing that is sure and never changes is God. He said He would never leave you nor forsake you. Why, it is not because He likes you, it is because He truly LOVES and cares very much for you.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Are you looking for stability in an ever-changing world? Let me invite you to look to someone who is never ever changing. Look to God, He and His love are out of this world.

When you think of all the things that have changed in your lifetime, how wonderful is it to know that God never changes?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this Passage, and today’s Devotion?

Do I find within this reading a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are one or two things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

God’s Take On The Economy
October 29, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

2 Corinthians 9:6-8
But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

In today’s economy, it is hard to understand the idea of “If I give away some of my money, I will be better off.” This idea just seems to go against the grain of everything we have learned about economics. Like “saving for a rainy day” or “a penny saved, a penny earned.” However, let’s look at it for a second, shall we?

This Corinthian church was giving to another group of people whom they did not know. Setting money aside for others, they had never met. Some might call this tossing money into the wind. However, God has said he would supply for our needs through men. We read in Luke 6:38 where God says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” Therefore, for God to keep His Word, people must also give. However, where do people get the money to give in the first place? It comes through other people in gifts or a job given to you! So, who encourages these people to give or not to give to you? The answer is that God does through the Holy Spirit. If you are a giver, then God has no problem wanting people to bless your life. If you are a Scrooge, you only get the little bits you can scrape together. Isn’t it funny how some people seem to get more and more blessings from God, while others just get by? OK, so it is not funny. Truly, it is somewhat sad. It is sad that many people have not learned the joy of giving to God and watching Him bless them in so many different ways. It is still Economics 101. In order to gain, you must invest. So, where are you investing?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:” Your God is truly able to supply all your needs if you will gladly give your all to Him.

What has God entrusted to you to be faithful with?

Hear Us, Oh Lord!
October 22, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Daniel 9:19
O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive; O Lord, hearken and do; defer not, for thine own sake, O my God: for thy city and thy people are called by thy name.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Daniel cried out to the Lord for the children of Israel in a time when they were in bondage, and it seemed there was no hope, and no way out. However, as we know today, there was hope, and God delivered them.

As believers in this same God, should we not be praying this same prayer today for our nation, which is now in the grips of sinful lifestyles and disobedience to God’s Word?

“O Lord, hear”…. However, God does not hear if we are not talking.
We need to be in prayer for our nation.

“O Lord, forgive”…. In our talking, we need to repent for not always taking Him seriously
and the Word of God as our
 infallible guide.

“O Lord, hearken and do; defer not”…. As God leads, we should be following.

There is precious little time left. For thy people who are called by thy name… Christians. Christians, if we do not do what is right, who will?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

It is far past time to simply pray. It is time to beg and plead with God for His mercy on a sinful people. For His grace toward those who have disobeyed. Thankfully, He has always loved us, and He always will. However, we dare not confuse His love with a tolerance for sin. It is time to PRAY!

Will you spend an extra few minutes today to pray for your nation?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 91:9
Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

What used to be the Sears Tower in Chicago, renamed Willis Tower in 2009, is one of the most spectacular buildings I have ever seen. I have had the privilege of flying in and out of Chicago and seeing this building from the air. What a massive structure. I have also been in Chicago, stood outside this very tall building, and strained my neck to try to see the top. From the ground, it even looks bigger. However, the most awesome feeling was riding the super-speed elevator inside this building to the viewing floor near the top and looking out over miles and miles. Looking at this building from the outside would never have helped me to know what it was like looking out of it from the inside.

That is sort of how it is with Jesus. Looking at Him from the outside will never replace the view of the world you will have being in Him. Some people try to get ahead of Jesus and are continually asking God to catch up with their ideas and their plans. My friend, trying to get God to follow your ideas is dangerous. Why, well, because from time to time, He will let you have your way. Usually, your way ends up being the wrong way. On the other hand, some people seem to lag behind Jesus. They are never able to get a vision of the world ahead or the people in it. They just cannot see that far ahead. Therefore, they are always asking Jesus to slow down and sit a spell. Looking at Jesus from the outside, whether ahead or behind, gives you one view of Jesus. However, when you make Him your habitation, the place you dwell, then life starts to make sense. As you let Jesus lead your life and you obey, now, instead of leading or following Jesus, you are just going along for the ride. What a new view you can have of the world around you through the eyes of Jesus.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I saw a bumper sticker not long ago that said, “Jesus is my Co-Pilot.” Not long after that, I saw another bumper sticker that said, “If Jesus is your Co-pilot, someone is in the wrong seat.” This is so true. Jesus does not desire to be your assistant; He desires to be your LORD.

How do we see God in our lives? Passanger, or driver?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 8:5-6
O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart. Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Ok, let’s try something together. Get a good book. Pull the shades in the room you are in to block out any outside distractions. Get a warm cup of coffee, tea, or something to drink. Grab a blanket. Do whatever it takes to help you get comfortable. Turn off the phone, TV, or anything that may cause an interruption. Find a nice, comfortable chair to sit in. Open your book to where you are reading, or any page will do for this experiment. Ok, now the shades are drawn, you are comfortable, it is quiet, now turn off the lights, and read.

You are probably thinking, Why turn off the lights? It is to illustrate how many saved and unsaved people try to live life. We do everything we can to make our lives comfortable. We work to get the right job, buy the right house, save money, and so on. All the things we can do to make us comfortable, yet we live in the dark, almost blindfolded. To gain wisdom from a book, we need light. To gain wisdom for our lives, we need Jesus, the light of the world. Real wisdom comes from someone who can see beyond where we are and who knows us inside and out. Better than we know ourselves. It takes someone who truly has our best interests at heart. It takes God.

Sadly, instead of seeking God, who can see the beginning and the end of life, we trust in the wisdom of a man who can only see yesterday and today and then wonder why life turns out as it does. It is like trying to read a book in the dark. You are there, the book is also there, and everything is all right. Still, you have no light.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In John 8:12, Jesus said, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” Seek Light.

Where do you find wisdom for your life?
