Sinned Against Heaven
APRIL 24, 2026
Daily Reading—1 Samuel 2-4 / Luke 16:18-31
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Luke 15:21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
The young son in the story has taken his father’s inheritance and wasted it on riotous living. He shamed the father’s name in the marketplace. It was his father who worried about him and watched for his return. However, the unruly son says, “I have sinned against heaven.” Repentance is not to the father but to God.
Too often, we feel sorry because we feel we have hurt someone. Yet a sign of true repentance is when we realize that all that a man has and who he is comes from God. When the son broke his dad’s heart, it broke God’s heart. David said the same thing in Psalms 51:4, “Against thee, thee ONLY, have I sinned.”
WHAT WILL YOU DO:
Do we realize how much God loves man, his creation,
and that when we hurt man, we sin against God?
