Highly Esteemed Error

Daily Reading—1 Samuel 5-8 / Luke 17
WHAT GOD HAS SAID:
Luke 16:15 And he said unto them, Ye are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.
WHAT I HAVE SEEN:
What is it that most people want in life? Some want wealth, while others would love to have prestige. Many people just want things. Boats, cars, houses, etc. None of those things in and of themselves are sinful until they become the center of your world and things or positions define you. “Look at me; I must be ok with God, look at all I have, or look at who I am.”
Jesus said, You might justify yourself before men, and you might fool men, but friend, you will never fool God. He knows your heart. If you think possessions or positions will get you into heaven someday, well, that is a highly esteemed error.

What does God see in your heart when He examines it?

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this passage and today’s devotion?
Within this reading, do I find a CHALLENGE for my life?
What actions will I take today or this week to meet this CHALLENGE?
