Here Is My Wish List God

July 23, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 21:2
Thou hast given him his heart’s desire, and hast not withholden the request of his lips. Selah.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Oh my, what a promise this verse holds for us to claim. That God would grant us all the requests of our lips. Whatever our hearts desire, we could have. A new car, a new house, better health, fancy clothes, jewelry, or just anything we might toss out into the throne room of Heaven. God will pick up our shopping list, fill it, and send it back. You might be saying to yourself, “This is not how my prayer life always works.” Yeah, well, not mine either. However, this is what all too many preachers seem to be saying today. So, what is the difference? Where is the problem?

The difference lies in our understanding of the who, what, where, and when of the text of the verse. Before you can understand this verse, you need to understand who it was written to. This was David. A man is described as someone after God’s own heart. David was not requesting earthly possessions to consume upon his own fancy. So, what was God giving to David? He would give all the things David would ask for according to God’s Heart. Too often, we focus on ourselves and ask for things we want. However, David wanted only what God wanted. Therefore, God was glad to provide it.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Do you desire the things God desires? Things such as people to be saved, lives to be changed, the helpless to be helped, Missions to be taken care of, disciples to be made, and churches to be filled with people to praise and worship God. Are these the major parts of your desires? If so, God might love to give you the desires of your heart too.

When you pray, do you consider what God may want to do?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Sound The Alarm, This Is Important

July 22, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Joel 2:1
Blow ye the trumpet in Zion, and sound an alarm in my holy mountain: let all the inhabitants of the land tremble: for the day of the LORD cometh, for it is nigh at hand;

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

God told the children of Israel decades before the Tribulation Period to be prepared. Was God’s time clock off? Why in the world would He have them ready way before Jesus had even been born? Before Jesus had died on the cross of Calvary and risen? Before He even ascended back into heaven?

He was telling them exactly what He was telling us, watch and be ready to see what I will do. He wanted them to be ready to leave at a moment’s notice. To be vigilant, for His hand is always at work. He wanted them to be ready to serve Him at a moment’s notice. To continually watch to see how they might be a willing and joyful servant. He knew this was how they would want to be found, watching and serving as He might return at just any time.

He is telling us the same thing today. Blow the trumpet. Let everyone know. Sound the alarm. The churches need to preach the gospel. Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble. Share with everyone about the power and might of God and His judgment to come. For the day of the Lord cometh, yes, friend, it will not be long until He returns for His own. He knows this is how we would want to be found, watching and serving at the moment of His return. He might return at any time. Watch and be ready.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Today might be the day He comes. Are you really prepared? Have you told everyone you need to tell? His return very well might be today.

Do you really believe that today could be the day?

Monkey See, Monkey Do

July 21, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Matthew 26:35
Peter said unto him, Though I should die with thee, yet will I not deny thee. Likewise also said all the disciples.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Oh, how easy it is to get caught up in the moment. We want so much to do what is right, and yet sometimes we find ourselves doing just the opposite. Our desire as Christians is to do what is right in the eyes of God, but we find ourselves being deceived at times into doing something else. Satan often uses subtle trickery to confuse us into doing the wrong thing. His craftiness is so clever that at times it may even appear as though we are doing what is right. Especially if we see other believers that we trust doing the same thing. It is like a Christian version of Monkey see monkey do.

In our verse today we find Peter telling Jesus that there was no way he would ever betray or leave Him. Even though Jesus had plainly told Peter, in the presence of all the disciples, that this was exactly what was going to happen. Peter’s human logic said no way. In addition, when the other disciples heard Peter’s statement, it seemed to make sense to them also. Why would they ever leave the Lord of Lords? Why would they walk away from someone who had proved Himself to be the Son of the Living God? Leaving just did not make sense. However, Jesus said it would happen, just before they said it would not.

No matter what we seem to understand with our logic, if God has said differently, believe God. He is never wrong. However, if we find ourselves deceived and on the wrong side of the fence, it is good to know that when we repent, God forgives and restores our fellowship as if it never happened. In Acts 1, just before Jesus ascended back into heaven, Peter and all the other disciples were together. Jesus gave all the disciples, including Peter, the responsibility to carry on His ministry. It was obvious that our loving Saviour had totally forgiven them.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As we go through this day, let’s pray God will help us to walk by faith and not only by sight. Walking and talking with the Lord as He, through the Holy Spirit, guides our steps.

Have you lived by the example of man, or the example of God?

July 19 & 20, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 18:36
Thou hast enlarged my steps under me, that my feet did not slip.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

As a Pastor, I have had the joy of traveling to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee with our youth group. While we were there, we went to see a waterfall that was way back in the hills. You had to follow a neatly groomed trail for about a quarter of a mile. When we finally arrived, there was a waterfall that dropped well over 100 feet from a cliff above us to a rocky bed below and then flowed calmly under a viewing platform which we stood on to see the beauty of God’s creation. Nothing seemed too dangerous, although to vary from the path could have been trouble.

Several of our youth and adults decided it would be neat to climb out on these rocks just below the falls and get a closer look at God’s handiwork. It was very evident from the foot-beaten paths that others had been doing this for years. As they disappeared out of my sight, I began quietly to pray, Lord, protect them, and keep them safe. As I watched for a while, I saw them jumping from rock to rock. I again prayed, Lord, please do not let them get hurt, how will I ever explain this to our church? My fears were based on my perception of what I assumed was there, not my sight. Finally, my curiosity and concern got the best of me, and I went down to join them. When I got there, I was relieved to find large dry rocks to walk on. God provided in nature large areas to walk where our feet would not slip.

In our daily walk with God, we cannot always see what He has provided for us until we take a step of faith. However, we can know with all certainty that He has said in Hebrews 13:5, “… I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Today let’s look for the areas where God has enlarged our steps. When sin comes up to tempt us, but the Holy Spirit reminds us of a scripture to protect us from that sin, He has enlarged our steps. When trials come our way and a Christian friend comes to comfort and strengthen us, God has enlarged our steps. “Thank you, God, for helping me to walk through this world today, Amen.”

How have you seen God enlarge your steps in life?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead, we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

Do You Want What The Neighbor Has?

July 18, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ecclesiastes 5:10, 11
He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity. When goods increase, they are increased that eat them: and what good is there to the owners thereof, saving the beholding of them with their eyes?

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Sometimes we forget what is valuable. We look at our neighbor with their boat and think, “If I only had a boat, I would be happy.” So, we work lots of extra hours to get the money to buy the boat, only to find it costs a lot of money to maintain a boat. Therefore, we must work more hours to maintain the boat and then find it takes up a lot of space to store a boat. Again, we work more hours to be able to pay for the place to store the boat. Then there is the license, the yearly cleaning and preparing of the boat to go in and out of the water, the docking fees, the gas, repairs, and so on and so on. After all the time spent earning the money and taking care of the boat, we find we have little time left to go out on the boat and enjoy it. That was the reason we thought the neighbor was so happy, to begin with. I have heard it said that the two happiest days in a man’s life are when he buys his first boat and when he sells his first boat.

In life, some people live much the same way. They spend their entire life chasing riches that will flee from them. The more we have, the more we want. The more we want, the more protective we become of what we think we have obtained. Also, we find that more of our valuable time is consumed in getting and keeping all that stuff. In addition, when we get to the end of our life we look back and see, all we really had to enjoy was time. And sadly, now that is gone too.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In a few more verses after today’s text in Ephesians 5:15-16, it says, “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” Satan loves to see Christians waste their time and their resources on worldly possessions that will be left behind at life’s end. We need to look ahead and see where we need to spend our TIME. Time is one of the most valuable gifts God has given us. Also, do not forget to spend some of that time thanking God for this gift called LIFE as well.

How will you invest your great gift of TIME today?
