When Is Enough, ENOUGH?

DECEMBER 09, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 30:15-17 The horseleach hath two daughters, crying, Give, give. There are three things that are never satisfied, yea, four things say not, It is enough: The grave; and the barren womb; the earth that is not filled with water; and the fire that saith not, It is enough. The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

A story is told of a young teen that had many friends who wanted to buy him a birthday present. This was made especially hard, as this teen’s father was exceptionally rich. He owned cars, several houses, and thousands of acres of land. All that the teenager could imagine having was available to him.

As he matured, the father made more and more things accessible to him. Yet his father was wise enough not to give him everything all the time. If the teen’s conduct were good, the father would grant him privilege and access to all he could ever need. However, if this teen was disobedient the father withheld the advantage of enjoying that wealth.

Therefore, the teen asked his friends to buy him the things his dad would withhold when he was bad. When the father found out, he was hurt. All that this young man would ever need in life was there if he would only obey. Yet, ALL was not enough. Consequently, the father then took the gifts others had given from the young man as well. Now, not only had he lost the use of the gifts, but he had also lost the good graces of his loving father as well.

If we put our self in the place of this teen, and God in the place of this father, we might begin to understand when enough is enough. You see God is truly the wealthiest of all. He owns everything. If we are obedient to His will, He wisely grants us access to all we need and will use correctly. As we mature spiritually, He entrusts us with more. Sadly, many try to find a way to get everything outside of the will of God.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

When is enough, enough? Probably when we realize we already have access to it ALL already. God gives to us ALL we truly need. When God says it is enough, it should be enough.

Can That Be Right?

DECEMBER 08, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 30:10-14 Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty. There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. There is a generation, whose teeth are as swords, and their jaw teeth as knives, to devour the poor from off the earth, and the needy from among men.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

It seems in today’s culture more than ever before; sin has been made legitimate in the eyes of many. It has even been made to appear to be reasonable and ok in some main line religious denominations.

The questions must be asked, when did God give man the right to call sin ok? For example, for most people in America, the Bible was for centuries understood to be the final authority in truth. However, now when the Bible says homosexuality is a sin and the world says it is a lifestyle, we who agree with and believe that the Bible is always right are called intolerant. When the Bible says pre-marital sex is wrong and the world says, “they are consenting adults so who does it hurt,” we who trust God’s Holy Word to be right are looked upon as being narrow-minded. When the Bible says come ye out from among them and be ye separate, and narrow is the way that leads to life everlasting, but the world says we are all alike and there are many roads that lead to God, we who maintain the Scripture to be accurate are looked upon as unable to see the big picture.

I guess if the rest of the Bible is not true, then probably those people who question God’s Word do not believe this verse either. “There is a generation that are pure in THEIR OWN EYES, and yet is not washed from their filthiness.” …. That cannot be this generation… Right? Or is it?

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

If you are faced with the choice between what God has to say on a subject and what man says about the same subject, here is a thought to remember. God has been around a lot longer and really knows a lot more than the person telling you that God is wrong. Hmmm!

Every Word Of God Is Pure

DECEMBER 07, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 30:5-9 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Two things have I required of thee; deny me them not before I die: Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the LORD? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

There are thousands of books out today trying to explain, rearrange, re-write, define, deliberate, commentate, illiterate, make easy reading of, justify, rationalize, demonstrate, reconstruct, redo, present, reword, clarify, disambiguate, illuminate, alter, illustrate, spell out, organize, fix up, paraphrase, amend, modify, revamp, boil down, render, revise, restate, translate, summarize, and condense the Bible.

Some have even written other works that are separate from the Bible and tried to lead people to believe that they just as important as the Bible. A few brazen individuals have gone so far as to call their writings another gospel or another Bible. Some have re-written what they think is the Bible so many times that they do not even know from what they are re-writing.

Does God really need all that help? What if we used all the time we spent reading all these other books and just read the good old fashion King James Bible? With time and study, it does become clear. If we really want to understand it, why not ask the author? Can’t we just call upon the Holy Spirit, who resides in every believer, and ask Him to illuminate its meaning in our hearts. Even better than trying to change God’s word to fit our lifestyle, why not just do what it says?

All we really need is just a plain copy of the truth. I imagine that would take about one lifetime to read, study, and do. I am not anti-books but let us not lose sight of the Word of God in our lives first. Remember, every Word of the Bible is breathed from the very mouth of God.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Let’s get back to the one true book, the Holy Word of God. We need to pick up and read our Bible. As our passage today says, “Every word of God is pure.”

What’s Your Greatest Challenge?

DECEMBER 04, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 30:1-4 The words of Agur the son of Jakeh, even the prophecy: the man spake unto Ithiel, even unto Ithiel and Ucal, Surely I am more brutish than any man, and have not the understanding of a man. I neither learned wisdom, nor have the knowledge of the holy. Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son’s name, if thou canst tell?

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Agur begins by telling us he is not the brightest of men to walk the planet. Which truly is a contrast form the words of Solomon who, though he may not personally claim so, was called the wisest man to ever live (1 Kings 3:12). Yet Agur makes an interesting observation in verse four. If anyone draws close to God and begins to see His infinite power, His wisdom, and His grace, then we all begin to look a little less intelligent.

I heard the joke of how Satan came to God and challenged Him by saying; “I can make a man just like you can.” So God said, “ok let’s both make a man then.” Satan reached down and took a hand full of dirt to begin his creation. God stopped him and asked; “What are you doing?” Satan replied, “I am going to make a man out of dirt just like you did.” To which God replied to Satan, “Start by making your own dirt.”

The absolute awesomeness of God is beyond our wildest imaginations. Our finite minds with time limitations cannot truly fathom an infinite and timeless God. However, if you will take just few minutes to think upon on the idea of all God can do, it should bring you to a place of humbleness before Him. That is where Agur began, and friends, that is where we all need to begin as well.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Take a moment and think about the power that God has. What can He do if He would want to? Could He control the wind and waves? This would be child’s play for the creator of the same. Would it be possible for Him to make the sun and moon stand still? It takes just a thought for the impossible in our minds to become reality with God. Now ask yourself, what is my greatest challenge? Then remember, He can handle it.
