  Empty Vessels

DECEMBER 2, 2022
Daily Reading – Daniel 1-2 / 2 Peter 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Peter 2:17 These are wells without water, clouds that are carried with a tempest; to whom the mist of darkness is reserved for ever.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

There are a lot of people who say they love Jesus, worship God, and are filled with the Holy Spirit today. Great flowery words flow off their fingers to fill pages of Internets social media. They sing Amazing Grace at certain times of the year. Yet nothing in their life ever points to a life lived for Christ. They are empty vessels, looking pretty outwardly, yet empty inside.
2 Peter 2:17 calls them, “Wells without Water.” Their life is like a cloud in a windstorm, driven by new fads or the news of the day, and not founded on the solid rock of Jesus Christ. Jude 1:12 say’s they are clouds without water and trees that bear no fruit.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

If we’re filled with God’s Holy Spirit, shouldn’t the life we live resemble the words we say we believe?

DECEMBER 1, 2022 – No Secrets Here!

  No Secrets Here!

DECEMBER 1, 2022
Daily Reading – Ezekiel 46-48 / 2 Peter 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Peter 1:20-21 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Over the years, we have seen books, docudramas, big screen movies, and websites, geared toward helping you unlock hidden mysteries in the Bible. Some claim to have a private code. Some say they have found a hidden message. Others will say that they have a private word from God about a segment of the Holy Word. The Bible tells us to beware of such.
God tells us in 2 Peter, the scriptures have no private interpretation. God is not trying to keep this a secret. He desires that we share it freely with everyone, that they might see the need for salvation. If you need help with a Bible passage, ask the author, the Holy Spirit, for enlightening.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Don’t you think the author would know more than any man about His own book?

NOVEMBER 30, 2022 – What Happens In A Disaster

  What Happens In A Disaster

NOVEMBER 30, 2022
Daily Reading – Ezekiel 42-45 / 1 Peter 4-5

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Peter 4:7-8 But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Over the years we have seen disaster upon disaster. There are natural calamities such as earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, and tornadoes. Then to add to our suffering are manmade situations. Gunmen shooting up schools, shopping malls, and churches. Oh, the heartbreak when this happens. Yet amazingly we also see the bible played out during times like these.
Genuine love for humanity sets aside divisions. If someone is hurt in a tragedy, we do not ask what race, denomination, or political party they are with. Real love for mankind causes us to forget our differences and makes us want to help.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Aren’t people spending an eternity in hell a big enough disaster for us to want to lovingly reach out to rescue those perishing?

NOVEMBER 29, 2022 – God And Good, Are Good

God And Good, Are Good

NOVEMBER 29, 2022
Daily Reading – Ezekiel 39-41 / 1 Peter 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Peter 3:12-13 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil. And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In a world full of rioting and fear, where can we find peace for our soul? When it appears that sin has run rampant and society is against the believer in Christ, how can we find comfort? The answer may be in us.
Today’s verses tell us that if we choose to do good, live a righteous life, and live above the sinfulness of the world, God watches out for us. Good living does not save us from sin; only faith in Christ will do that. However, living a good life does save us many heartaches and trials. God is watching and hears us when we pray. The Bible says if He hears us, He will answer our prayers. God and good, are good.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

I like the question in 1 Peter 3:13 And who is he that will harm you, if ye be followers of that which is good?

NOVEMBER 28, 2022 – What Does God See In You

What Does God See In You

NOVEMBER 28, 2022
Daily Reading – Ezekiel 36-38 / 1 Peter 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Peter 2:9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Too often, we hear believers running themselves down. “I am nobody special, I am not so great, or not worthy of a blessing.” When looking in a mirror at the reflection of our sinful self, we might have reason to believe that. How wonderful it is that God looks on the heart. So, what does He sees when He looks at you?.
God sees Christians as chosen people. Not picked last as the only one left, but part of a royal priesthood. He sees us as part of a Holy and peculiar people. Meaning a set apart, and very special people who are able by our life to shew the virtues and excellencies of God. He sees us as someone called out of darkness into the spotlight of His grace and love.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

So, if God sees us like that, how should we see ourselves?
