FEBRUARY 7, 2022 – Say It! Do It.

Say It! Do It.

FEBRUARY 07, 2022
Daily Reading – Exodus 25-26 / Matthew 23:1-22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 23:2-3 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat: All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Most of us have heard the phrase, “Do what I say, not what I do.” Most often, we find this being said by someone who is doing something that is illegal, immoral, or harmful in some way. In addition, it is often used with children, by adults who do not want these children to follow in their footstep down a wrong path.

In today’s passage, that is what Jesus was telling the people of that day. In the synagogue was a seat called Moses’ Seat. It was a place of authority. When they sat there, they would read the law as it was written.

Jesus said, listen to the reading, it is the Word of God. However, do not watch the lives of the teachers, they do not live up to what they are teaching.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

If someone were examining your life today,
would it live up to what you say about
your relationship with God?
You know people are watching you?

FEBRUARY 5 & 6, 2022 – No Soul Sleep

No Soul Sleep

FEBRUARY 5 & 6, 2022
Daily Reading – Exodus 23-24 / Matthew 22
Daily Reading – No Reading on Sunday

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 22:32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The Sadducees, like some today, believed when a person dies, they are dead. However, they are not. The body may wait for the resurrection, but the soul lives on.

The Sadducees did not believe in a resurrection. They took all they knew from the first five books of the Bible and argued there was no afterlife. Some today say as well, when a person dies their soul goes to the grave with them. Jesus, using a statement from the first five books, tells them it is not so. Jesus said that God said, “I am the God of,” not, I was the God of. God is God of the living, not the dead.

That is why Paul said in 2 Cor. 5:8 for the believer, to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The soul immediately goes to be with God.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Do you believe eternal life is eternal,
or interrupted?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

FEBRUARY 04, 2022 – Believe To Receive

Believe To Receive

FEBRUARY 04, 2022
Daily Reading – Exodus 20-22 / Matthew 21:23-46

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 21:32 For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him: and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

What is it that will place a person in God’s family? Is it position in the church? According to Matthew 21, that did not work for the Chief Priest and Elders. Is it nationality, gender, or race? Well again, that was not the qualification for entrance here. So, who is it then that can be added into the family of God?

Jesus very simply said, “and ye, when ye had seen it, repented not afterward, that ye might believe him.” It is those who have a repented or turned their heart and believed.

Today, some believe it is their family, denomination, race, or goodness, which will get them into heaven someday. However, it is still the same today, turn your heart to Jesus, believe, and receive.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What are you counting on for entrance into
the family of God?

FEBRUARY 03, 2022 – Feeling A Little Hungry

Feeling A Little Hungry

FEBRUARY 03, 2022
Daily Reading – Exodus 17-19 / Matthew 21:1-22

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 21:18-19 Now in the morning as he returned into the city, he hungered. And when he saw a fig tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever. And presently the fig tree withered away.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

There are those who claim Jesus was not deity, not God. There are others who claim He was not a real man, but rather God in the figure of a man. I believe today’s passage shows He was all God and all man.

When I get up in the morning, I am hungry. It is part the human side of us saying we need to refuel to be productive through the day. Some will eat more or less than others, but most feel the need to eat something. So did the man Jesus.

However, Jesus used this opportunity to teach an eternal lesson by withering a fig tree. Yea, I cannot do that. However, Jesus being all God and all man could. Jesus asked the disciples on another occasion, who do you say I am. Today we might ask ourselves the same thing.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Who do we say that Jesus is?
God, Man, or 100% both?

FEBRUARY 02, 2022 – To Be Like HIM

To Be Like HIM

FEBRUARY 02, 2022
Daily Reading – Exodus 15-16 / Matthew 20

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The goal of every believer should be to be more like Jesus. We all know, we will never be sinless as He was sinless. However, we can decide to sin less. We will never be God. Nevertheless, we can be cloaked in Christ’s righteousness in the eyes of God.

So, what simple things might we do to be more like him? Well, today’s verse said He came to minister, which means to serve, not to be served. We could begin there.

To be more like Jesus we need to be more about serving others than being served. If most Christians would do that, we might be amazed at how much we were served by others without seeking it.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

When you assemble with your church this week, will you go to sit and be served, or will you go to serve?
