Pick Me, Pick Me

MAY 6, 2022
Daily Reading – 1 Samuel 28-31 / Luke 22:1-34

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 22:27 For whether is greater, he that sitteth at meat, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at meat? but I am among you as he that serveth.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

When choosing teams for any sport, if you get around a bunch of kids you will always hear the same thing. Pick me, pick me! Everyone wants to feel needed and special. Often you will hear someone who is belittling their childhood say, “I was always the last one chosen for sports and games.”
Jesus tells us not to be concerned with who is first or last. Using Himself as an example He asks, who is greater, people at a table eating or servants serving the table? We might all say those who are dinning. Then Jesus says, but I am here and am serving. None of us are greater than Jesus. Being a servant does not make us last, it is whom we serve that matters.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Is serving God a chore for you or a privilege?

MAY 5, 2022 – Look Up

Look Up

MAY 5, 2022
Daily Reading – 1 Samuel 25-27 / Luke 21

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 21:28 And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

What a joy to be present at the birth of our children. To witness God’s miracle of life. We were excited and had planned for the day they would be born and come home. While the birth itself was exciting, the process of birth included a lot of pain. With each contraction getting closer, so was the arrival of this new life. There was a point we thought, how much longer can this pain go on. Then came the Miracle of life.
With things the way they are in today’s world, many Christians are asking, how much longer can this go on. However, Jesus said; “And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, lift up your heads; For your redemption draweth nigh.”

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you looking up?

MAY 4, 2022 – Seated On The Throne

Seated On The Throne

MAY 4, 2022
Daily Reading – 1 Samuel 21-24 / Luke 20:27-47

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 20:42-43 And David himself saith in the book of Psalms, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Where is Jesus today? He is exactly where He told the Scribes, Sadducees, and Chief Priests he would be. He is seated at the right hand of God the Father.
Jesus reminds them that David had given them a hint in the book of Psalms when he said, the LORD, (which is God the Father,) said unto David’s Lord, (which is Jesus the Christ,) sit at His right hand until He brought the world into subjection. This phrase is repeated throughout scripture. God clearly wants us to know where Jesus is today.
David made this statement a bit more personal. He calls Him “My Lord.” That is because Jesus was also seated on the throne of David’s heart. He was his personal Lord.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Where is Jesus seated in your life today?

MAY 3, 2022 – What Will Be Formed

What Will Be Formed

MAY 3, 2022
Daily Reading – 1 Samuel 18-20 / Luke 20:1-26

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 20:18 Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

I live near a beach in Michigan. There is lots of sand everywhere. One thing we did as children was to fall back into the sand, have someone pull us up, and see what form we left in the sand. If you ever fell back, and hit a rock well, it hurt. Why, well rocks do not take on the form of what is fallen on them. Rocks instead will reform you, and sometimes that really hurts.
Jesus is the Rock of our salvation, the cornerstone we build our lives upon. When we fall on Jesus, we take on the shape of Jesus. I do not want a God who changes for me. He is perfect and I am so far from perfect. I want a God who instead changes me into His likeness.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What will be formed in your life?
Are you doing the forming, or being formed?

MAY 2, 2022 – Something Will Praise Him

Something Will Praise Him

MAY 2, 2022
Daily Reading – 1 Samuel 16-17 / Luke 19:28-48

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 19:40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The Bible says the Lord not only deserves our praise but will get it from something if we ever stop. David said in Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
In Revelation 4:8 Johns says, “And the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”
The Lord is worthy of our praise. We should not let some rock with no soul, shout louder than we do. God saved us from hell. He is our cornerstone of salvation. He set our feet on a Solid Rock and upon that Rock built His church.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How will you praise Him today?
