  Are We Even Noticeable?

JULY 21, 2022
Daily Reading – Esther 5-10 / Acts 17

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 17:13 But when the Jews of Thessalonica had knowledge that the word of God was preached of Paul at Berea, they came thither also, and stirred up the people.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Paul and Silas had a way of stirring up things almost everywhere they went. When they shared the gospel of Jesus Christ, many people were saved, and lives and lifestyles were changed. So much so that the opposition sent people from miles away to campaign against them and even have them arrested if possible.
When reading this today I asked myself, are we as believers today doing enough? I mean, a few people stirred up things so much by sharing the gospel that these cities were concerned about things shifting in the actions and attitudes of those in these towns. The change scarred them.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

I just have to wonder, are we doing enough? Are we even noticeable?

JULY 20, 2022 – This Little Light Of Mine

  This Little Light Of Mine

JULY 20, 2022
Daily Reading – Esther 1-4 / Acts 16:25-40

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 16:25 And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In Acts 16 we find Paul and Silas in a dark and dingy prison. We know it was dark in there because the keeper of the prison in Acts 16:29 “called for a light” before he entered. Yet in the midst of the darkness, there was already a light the jailer did not see. Paul and Silas were praying and singing praises to God, which shinned a spiritual light on who God was to them in their darkest situation. The prisoners with Paul and Silas heard them. Soon, the jailer saw that same light.
We too are called to be a light in this dark world. No matter how bleak things may seem, we can always find a reason to praise our God in heaven. Let’s be a light for someone else today.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Do I hear you singing? “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.”

How Long Will It Be Lawful?

JULY 19, 2022
Daily Reading – Neh. 13 / Acts 16:1-24

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 16:20-21 And brought them to the magistrates, saying, These men, being Jews, do exceedingly trouble our city, And teach customs, which are not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Paul and Silas were taken before the magistrates in today’s passage. What was their crime? They were teaching things called, “not lawful for us to receive, neither to observe, being Romans.” In other words, the Romans had created laws to forbid them to teach anything about God, Christ, and a Christian lifestyle.
Today in the United States we are seeing the slow erosion of our Christian rights. Men and women, we elected to protect our rights, are now rewriting the laws to remove our rights. Even with our freedoms still in place today, many Christians are afraid to share their faith in Christ.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

When we, as the Romans, have laws that prohibit the proclamation of Christ as Saviour, will anyone be willing to share the gospel?

JULY 18, 2022 – Even Good People Disagree

  Even Good People Disagree

JULY 18, 2022
Daily Reading – Neh. 11-12 / Acts 15:28-41

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 15:39-40 And the contention was so sharp between them, that they departed asunder one from the other: and so Barnabas took Mark, and sailed unto Cyprus; And Paul chose Silas, and departed, being recommended by the brethren unto the grace of God.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Paul and Barnabas could not agree on what to do next. Their disagreement was so harsh; they decided it would be better to go in different ways. Later we find all of them reconciled their differences for the cause of Christ. Even in their disagreement, God used both teams to spread the good news of Salvation
Even good people can disagree on how ministry should be done. One may not like the music, the order of service, or even types of ministries. That does not necessarily make either way wrong. If ministry is done with the right heart, God can use it. Remember, in the verses before the disagreement, they agreed on how a person is saved.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Can we all agree that getting the gospel message out is the most important?

JULY 16 & 17, 2022 – Legalist Or Loyalist

  Legalist Or Loyalist

JULY 16 & 17, 2022
Daily Reading – Neh. 9-10 / Acts 15:1-27

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 15:1 And certain men which came down from Judaea taught the brethren, and said, Except ye be circumcised after the manner of Moses, ye cannot be saved.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Any time a church adopts procedures to help keep order, someone calls them legalists. Typically, it is the person who does not like the rule. All churches have rules. You must be a member to vote. Only members may teach Sunday School. Etc. Yet no rule says you must do them to be saved. These rules help us loyal to order in church, not legalists to a law to be saved.
It is not a new phenomenon. The apostles wrestled with these issues back at the founding of the church. Their conclusion should be ours as well. God clearly says in Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Faith in Christ alone saves, plus nothing.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Can we share the Gospel without adding new rules?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
