Sound Advice!

JULY 03, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 16:19-21 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud. He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. The wise in heart shall be called prudent: and the sweetness of the lips increaseth learning.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Trusting in the Lord and his wisdom will always provide the best outcome. In our verse today, it says, “whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he.” Why is that? Well, most everyone has heard the term “Sound Advice.” What does that mean? On a rare occasion will the sound have anything to do with speakers, amplifiers, music, or anything to do with your hearing. Sound Advice means advice you can be sure about. Its advice, which if followed, will bring about favorable results

Back in Proverbs 2:6, it says that true wisdom comes from God. It is not us figuring things in life out, it’s God sharing his wisdom of all ages, past, present, and future with us. Therefore, if we seek and respect God, we will respect what He has to say. If we respect what He says, we will act upon those words. If we act upon His advice, we will always come out right. Why? Because, as it says in Proverbs 2:7, “He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous:…” Sound Advice.

Proverbs 2:7 also says the Lord will be our buckler. Ok, so buckler is not a term we use much today. A buckler was a small shield carried on the arm, or in the hand of soldiers to defend themselves when engaged in a hand-to-hand combat. The wisdom of God is just that. It becomes our shield as we walk through life, in hand-to-hand combat with the evil that the world and Satan have in place. What does that mean? It means we place faith in what God says, and then use it as our defense. Simply, “He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good.”

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

I believe what God is saying in the book of Proverbs, is also what He was saying in Ephesians 6:16. “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.” It’s not just hearing and reading what God has to say, it’s also believing and living it. That is faith. In addition my friends, that’s SOUND ADVICE!

Best Of Both Worlds

JULY 02, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 16:15-18 In the light of the king’s countenance is life; and his favour is as a cloud of the latter rain. How much better is it to get wisdom than gold! and to get understanding rather to be chosen than silver! The highway of the upright is to depart from evil: he that keepeth his way preserveth his soul. Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

I have heard people say before, “that guy, or girl has the best of both worlds.” One might wonder, what two worlds are they talking about? Well, the phrase is simply talking about having your cake and eating it too. It just means they are reaping the benefits from two situations here on this earth.

However, there is a better meaning for the phrase “Best of Both Worlds.” True wisdom from above and understanding of that wisdom can give a person the best of two real worlds. The world which we live in today, and the world to come.

Godly wisdom and understanding will cause a person to turn to God and His Word in times of trials and tribulation. However, you will occasionally find the unsaved also digging through the pages of the Bible during troubling times. True wisdom is to understand that the Word of God is needed during the good times in life, as well as those painful ones.

God’s Word will help the upright choose the highway in life that leads away from evil. In the world we live in today, we need all the guidance we can find to help us navigate past the snares, and traps of Satan.

In choosing this life of surrender to God through accepting His Son Jesus as Saviour, we also preserve our soul for the world to come. Yes sir, Christians are afforded the best of both worlds. A place in heaven has been secured for us through Christ. Navigating our path of life today means we need to remain humble and stay focused on God’s guiding hand.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Here are some keys to survival. Stay in touch with the author. Speak to God daily through prayer and allow Him to speak to you through the pages of His Word. Then steadily fellowship with other believers God has put together to encourage you. He calls them the Church!

The Throne Belongs To God

JULY 01, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 16:12-14 It is an abomination to kings to commit wickedness: for the throne is established by righteousness. Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right. The wrath of a king is as messengers of death: but a wise man will pacify it.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

How far off course, have we come in America? The Bible says it is an abomination for the king, or in the case of Americans, for the president, to commit wickedness. It’s an abomination! In other words, God sees wickedness as sickening, and it should be. Why? Because the throne, or office leadership was established with the concept of righteousness attached to it. Whoever holds this office should look to the one and only true King of all Kings to be their example in every judgment, and every decision that’s made. Jesus Christ, who will one day rule and reign over all the earth, should be their model and example of how to rule well in the high office that they are allowed to hold. Instead, today we debate whether God and religion have any place in politics. Even the Church today gets upset when a preacher stands in the pulpit and says anything about the sinful life of their favorite candidate.

Social unrest, global fighting, and a fragile economy have caused people more and more to dismiss God and true morality for someone, anyone, who will tickle their ears with some hope of peace, and more money in their pocket. Sadly, they have forgotten that God alone brings peace, and He is the one who owns the cattle on a thousand hills, and not any political party.

Even worse are those who say, “Until the perfect man is eligible for office, I will not vote.” When they do so, they allow the lost world, and its sinful ideas to have their way. To wait to vote for the perfect man to hold the office of authority will mean they will have to wait until Jesus comes back. Friend, on that day, there will be no vote. HE IS KING OF KINGS ALREADY!

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

What can we do today you may ask? The one thing we should have been doing all along. Hold leadership to the highest of true moral standards. Next, and most importantly, pray God will turn their heart toward Him. Finally, pray daily for all in authority over you. Never forget, God is still in control.

Just Who Is In Control?

June 30, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 16:8-11 Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues without right. A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps. A divine sentence is in the lips of the king: his mouth transgresseth not in judgment. A just weight and balance are the LORD’S: all the weights of the bag are his work.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

There have long been several views as to the amount of control God exercises in the individual life of man. Some believe man has a complete free will, and God has little or no control in one’s life. While others believe that man has no control over his life at all. Their belief is that God foreordained in time past if a person would go to heaven or hell. Then there are the rest of us, who believe the truth dwells somewhere between both of those understandings.

Believing the Bible must never contradict itself; we must also look at verse nine in this chapter to help reconcile the question at hand. It says, “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the LORD directeth his steps.” Man clearly has within himself the ability to make decisions for life. To choose good or evil. If this were not so, we would have no need for the sharing of the gospel at all. Man would simply just do what God designed for him to do.

However, to say that God does not touch the lives of man is equally absurd. If we give our lives and our ways over to the Lord, He will direct our paths in ways that please Him and will ultimately be for our own good. Nevertheless, God, who knows the beginning from the end, also knows what will happen when sinful man rejects Him. Then, being God, He can even use that to fulfill the outcome He has given us in the pages of His Word.

It is not now, nor has it ever been God’s desire for anyone to die and go to hell. However, He’s chosen to allow man to make that choice. To do otherwise would remove from man the ability to love Him freely. Without free will, we would simply be robots. God desires for us to want to love and obey Him. It was that way in Eden with Adam and Eve, and nothing has changed.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Give control of your day to God, and see what He will do with it, and with you. How do you give the day to God? You do so moment by moment. The first moment starts right now!

Tossing Out Passages

JUNE 29, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 16:5-7 Every one that is proud in heart is an abomination to the LORD: though hand join in hand, he shall not be unpunished. By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the LORD men depart from evil. When a man’s ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

It seems like today; many people are against the work of God’s people. Popular view is the order of today. It’s not about what is right, or even what is wrong, it’s just simply whatever man wants. The democracy of humanity is what rules today’s morals. If enough people proclaim something right, with a loud enough voice, for a long period of time, people begin to believe it must be so.

For example: some Christians today are confused over the claim that homosexuality is a lifestyle designed at birth. The prolonged battle, loud opposing voices and financially backed claims have clouded the truth of scripture. Even though God proclaims through all of scripture that this way of life is sinful, since man now proclaims it is not, we must make laws, and spend thousands of hours and dollars in our courtrooms to keep homosexuality away from our children in school. Why? It’s because we have begun to believe the lie spoken by man.

If this is a lifestyle from birth, and God creates all people, God has then created them to do something He repeatedly says He hates. Yet the same Bible says He loves all men. Something is wrong here. What is it? It’s that man has begun the process of discarding parts of the truth. God hates sin, yet He loves humanity. Therefore, this sinfulness could not be created of God. They have joined hand in hand, promoting this sinful life. God does not hate people, He hates sin. All sin.

This is but one example. The same is true in churches, homes, and businesses worldwide. Selecting the truth of scripture we want to obey and discarding the rest. The Bible says they who do so “shall not be unpunished.” Or should we toss that part out of the Bible too?

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

We must again realize that the entire Word of God is true, and not just the parts that fit our current life. We should attain to mold our life after the Bible and not mold the Bible to fit our life.
