OCTOBER 11, 2022 – Good Work = Great Reward

  Good Work = Great Reward

OCTOBER 11, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 19-22 / Eph. 6

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 6:7-8 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

People have tried to apply these verses to salvation. They believe that they will be allowed into heaven because of good works. However, this passage is not about salvation. It is about how a saved person ought to live their lives. Paul is saying good works will equal great rewards. No works equals no rewards.
Paul is telling the church, do not work to please the boss while he is watching, work for the Lord who is always watching. He also says, do it with the right heart. Not feeling bitter about having to work. Instead, doing it with good will, rejoicing to have a job and grateful God gives you the health to perform it. Work for the Lord and He will reward you. Work for man and all you get is money.

OCTOBER 10, 2022 – Pucker Up And Whistle

  Pucker Up And Whistle

OCTOBER 10, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 15-18 / Eph. 5

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Oh, the joy of knowing that Jesus loved us enough to come to earth and die on a cross for us. Not only did He die, but also rose again and lives today making intercession for us at the throne of grace. It makes you want to sing. However, some say they cannot sing. I heard a man say that he was cut out to be a singer but was sewn up all wrong. I say if you cannot sing, pucker up and whistle. Make a joyful noise.
Psalms, Hymns, and spiritual songs. What are the differences? Ask 20 musical people, get 20 variations of the answers. I like the end of the verse “making melody in your heart to the Lord.” That is a simple answer.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What tune is playing in your heart today?

OCTOBER 8 & 9, 2022 – No, Never Alone

  No, Never Alone

OCTOBER 8 & 9, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 11-14 / Eph. 4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As believers, we are never alone in this world. Even when we are alone, we are still not alone. God said He would never leave us. He does that through His Holy Spirit dwelling in us 24 hours a day, every day.
Once we realize God is with us all the time, it should make a big difference in what we do, think, read, and say. If how we live might bring sorrow and grief to God, why would we want to do it? Paul said, “grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” In verses before, and after this statement, he shares things that bring sorrow to the Holy Spirit who is always with us, sealing us until we go home to be with God.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Reading Eph. 4:25-32, is it possible we may have grieved Him lately?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

  You Can’t Even Imagine

OCTOBER 7, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 8-10 / Eph. 3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 3:20-21 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As we read Ephesians 3:20-21, we realize that God, through Paul, was writing to churches through all ages, and therefore, writing to us, the church today. What is God saying to us today? He says, I am close to you.
Paul points out the marvel of who God is. He is “able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think.” As I read it, I hear God saying, “You cannot even imagine all of who I am or what I am able to do.” He adds, “according to the power that worketh in us.” Do you realize how close God is to us? He is in us and able to do exceeding abundantly above all we ask or think, in and through us. “Unto Him be glory in the church” is an understatement.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t it great to know this awesome God will never leave us?

OCTOBER 6, 2022 – How Do I Get Salvation

  How Do I Get Salvation

OCTOBER 6, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 5-7 / Eph. 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

People are always trying to find new ways to get and/or to keep their salvation. Either by the things that they do, or religious acts that they keep. I love Ephesians 2:8-9 because it tells it like it is.
It says, “For by Grace are ye saved.” Grace is God giving us what we do not deserve. We do not deserve to be saved from hell as all have sinned and come short of His glory. Paul also says salvation is, “Not of yourselves,” emphasized with, “Not of works, lest any man should boast.” That clearly removes anything I might do, whether it be a good deed or religious act. He shares we are saved through faith in God’s gift. It is faith in Christ and that alone.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Isn’t it great to know God saves us and not we ourselves?
