Invest It All

September 4, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 22:4-7 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

The stocks go up, the stocks go down, and this old-world spins round and round.

It seems as though wealth and riches are what consumes the minds of most people today. It’s almost completely impossible to live without some money in the stock market whether we know it or not. Do you have insurance, 401 K, or have you deposited money in a bank? If so, and most have, then the money you placed there was invested on the stock market. If the market collapses, so does the value of that company or financial institution.

I heard a Financial Advisor tell a joke during his speech which went like, “I lost millions of dollars in the stock market today.” His friend said “really, how?” He said, “Gold went up one dollar a pound and I didn’t have a dime invested in it.”

Could it be possible that many people miss the real riches, honor, and for some, even eternal life because we have nothing invested as well? The phrase, “Nothing invested, nothing lost” sure does not apply here. If we do not deposit our life into Christ, we will have lost it all. Christ invested His life in us and paid the premium for our sin debt. Our text today says; “By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” This simply means, if we invest our life into the Lord, we receive His riches, honor, and a life that is out of this world. In addition, the stock market can never affect this investment in any way whatsoever.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

The problem is most people want to invest a small amount of their life into Christ and hold back the rest. God does not work that way. We either deposit our entire life in Him or nothing. What have you given to Christ? We all must come humbly to the cross and make a total deposit of our life in reverence to our Lord. The dividends are glorious.

September 3, 2020 – Who Is Really Rich?

Who Is Really Rich?

September 3, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 22:1-3 A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold. The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all. A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

If you were to listen to most televangelism programing today, you might possibly get the idea that people who do not have many material goods in life are somehow living outside of the will of God. That if they were living right and were in God’s will, then God would surely bless them with prosperity. However, this is not what the Bible says.

The Bible says a person who is a believer in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour will be supplied with all their needs. If they need money, God will most often give them a way to earn it. If they need food, God will supply a way for it to be grown, donated, or purchased.

I find on occasion, those who have been blessed by God financially forget that not just a tithe of that money belongs to God. Rather, everything we are entrusted with comes from God and therefore everything really belongs to Him. The tithe simply is the portion He asks of you to help further His work on earth. This also provides you with an opportunity to be obedient to His Word and worship Him with what He has supplied for you.

Billy Sunday once said, “The fellow that has no money is poor. The fellow that has nothing but money is poorer still.” Let’s remember, God is the maker of us all, rich, and poor alike.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

As we go through this day we might want to remember another verse in Romans 8:28 which says; “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” All things include ALL THINGS. All He has created is working together to fulfill His purpose. The rich and the poor, all nationalities, young and old, everything and everyone are part of His creation and handy work. That Includes YOU!

You Can Be A Superhero!

September 2, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 21:28-31 A false witness shall perish: but the man that heareth speaketh constantly. A wicked man hardeneth his face: but as for the upright, he directeth his way. There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD. The horse is prepared against the day of battle: but safety is of the LORD.

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

Have you ever thought you might like to be a superhero? Possibly you could be someone like “Superman,” who runs to the aid of the innocent. Or how about “The Hulk”? A Giant of a man with a heart for what is right. Possibly, you would become “Wonder Woman” whose quick gestures seem to be able to defend against anything that comes her way.

Well to the little ones who are growing up in your home, and those children around you in church, you my friend can be every bit a real-life superhero. I know that right now some of you are thinking, “Oh no preacher, not me.” However, you know it’s not about your superhuman abilities that will make you the hero. It will be God’s abilities shining though you they will see.

In our verses today it says, “There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the LORD.” Simply stated, nothing and no one can outsmart the Lord. He simply cannot be beat at anything. By placing yourself in the hands of the almighty, no matter what comes up against you, you cannot be beat. Why is that? It is because your safety is of the Lord.

If you need to run to someone’s defense like Superman, you will have the power and strength of the Lord behind you. No matter your physical stature, in the eyes of a little child you will appear as big as the giant Hulk. However, the loving heart of God will shine through you to comfort them in their time of need. Yes, with God’s power on your side my friend you can be a real-life superhero to those who stand in need.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

Stand tall in Christ Jesus. Be brave with the shield of faith. Put on your helmet of salvation and your breastplate of righteousness. You are ready to stand against sin and stand up for what is right. You my friend are today, one of God’s best Superheroes, ready for shine as a beacon on Him.

The Needy Or Greedy

September 1, 2020

DAILY PROVERBS:

Proverbs 21:25-27 The desire of the slothful killeth him; for his hands refuse to labour. He coveteth greedily all the day long: but the righteous giveth and spareth not. The sacrifice of the wicked is abomination: how much more, when he bringeth it with a wicked mind?

OUTLOOK ON THE IN BOOK:

I know you will not believe this, but did you know there are people in this world who use the church for their own personal gain? The practice has become so bad that many churches today have had to put into place policies that regulate how they help, and whom they can help when people call for assistance.

I pastor a smaller church in a small community, and yet we sometimes get anywhere from one to four calls per month for help. During the cold winter months, we get even more. There are organizations in our community which now keep and share lists of names of people who have made it a habit of calling churches almost monthly asking for help.

Please do not misunderstand, some who call have legitimate needs, and we have helped many of them. However, some have called asking for money for something, yet when we offer to buy that very same item for them, they’re not interested. What they really wanted was the money, and not the item or help. Often when they are asked to come to a church service and we will help them, they will not come, as they want nothing to do with God. Others have been offered work in return for pay but refused to do any work for assistance. Instead, they just call another church until they get the free handout.

Anyone can fall on hard times. God expects us as the church to be His hands and heart toward the hurting. However, He also expects those who can do for themselves to be willing to do something. The desire to be lazy or slothful ends up being their destruction. When the church will no longer help them sit around and do nothing, they begin to condemn God. It is truly not God who failed them, but they who have failed themselves.

THE WORD WALKING IN ME:

We ought always to do what we can for the homeless and victims of society. As my parents use to tell me, “but for the grace of God, that could very well be us.” We ought also to pray for the slothful, which are not willing to help themselves. That they will see true hope and open their hearts toward God.
