Who’s The Boss?

FEBRUARY 16, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Exodus 40:16 Thus did Moses: according to all that the LORD commanded him, so did he.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Some people just hate it when they are told what they are to do. It ruffles their feathers if you do not say, “would you PLEASE do this or PLEASE do that.” Yet, if what they are begin asked to do is already part of their job description, should someone who is their boos need to say PLEASE? As if, when being paid to do that job they really had a choice in the matter, that is if they plan to continue to be paid. I know, “please,” sounds more polite. However, is a boss really asking would you like to do this or that? NO. Usually they are saying is, this is what needs to be done and I am directing you to that position. If you say no or you do not do it, then the boss is the one with the choice, keep you, or let you go. Your only real choice was obeying or disobeying.

Obedience usually brings with it a sense of trust and faith in you as a worker. That trust in you may often lead to advancements of pay or position. When we read the 40th chapter of Exodus, repeatedly we read the phrase “as the LORD commanded Moses.” In today’s verse, we find Moses did exactly as the LORD commanded. Later, in Exodus 40:33, it says, “So Moses finished the work.” What do you think happened when Moses finished the work? The LORD did what He said He would do. He filled the tabernacle and dwelt among them. When the Children of Israel were obedient, they received the rewards of obedience.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

I know sometimes as we read our Bibles and see all the things that God desires of us as separated Christians we may want to rebel. Sometimes it looks like the world is having so much fun and we just want to be part of it. However, if we will be obedient to the Word of God, then we are now, and will in the future be rewarded. Rewarded with God’s presence and blessing abiding with us daily. Sin is only fun for a season, and then eventually brings sorrow in its wake. Obedience to God and His Word is rewarded for eternity.

He’s Listening

FEBRUARY 15, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Luke 7:13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

I am not sure how things may touch you, but I know when I see someone crying, it often makes me want to cry also. When you can see the pain in their eyes and hear the sorrow in their voice, it makes you want to do something to try to ease their suffering. God also sees, hears, and even feels all our pains and all our sorrows.

In today’s verse it says that when Jesus looked at this woman, He had compassion toward her. It broke Jesus’ heart to see her heart broken. According to customs of that day and the Temple law, Jews were not to touch the dead. However, Jesus was willing to become ceremonially unclean by touching the bier, what we call a coffin, to bring help to this grieving widow who lost her only son. Ceremonies and rituals were not on His mind. Negative thinking people and what they might say later were not on His mind. This woman, her pain, and grief were the only things on His mind, and on His heart.

You know, He still hears us, and He still feels our sorrow and pain when our hearts are broken, and we cry out to Him today.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As Jesus became ceremonially unclean here, He also became unclean for the sins of the world when He died on the cross. He died for all sins, including yours and mine. Jesus has always been about giving life. In today’s verse, it was physical life, but for you and me it was something even more important. It was Eternal Life. If you have never asked Jesus to come into your heart, cleanse you from all your sin, and make Him your Lord and Saviour, let me just say this. He is still listening to your heart today!

These Are Really Good Seats!

FEBRUARY 13 & 14, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Exodus 33:21And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Imagine with me you walk into a crowded sports arena. It is the game of the year and the place is packed. You look over the sea of faces and recognize very few if any. To get the attention of anyone you might know you would have to yell, and with all the noise, it would most likely do no good. Then, as you are looking around, you see someone looking back toward you from really good seats and you recognize them as someone you know. A smiling face, and even better, they are motioning for you to come over by them. When you get there, they invite you to join them. In your mind your thinking, “WOW here?” These are excellent seats. You ask, “Are you sure?” Their reply is, “Yes, I was saving them for someone who I might know. I’m so glad you came as I did not want to be here alone either.” It seems almost too good to be true. You did nothing to cause this or earn this, and yet here you are in the absolute best seats imaginable. In gratitude, you feel a sense of wanting to do something nice for them someday.

Well friend, let me encourage you to think on what the Lord is saying to you today. Listen as He says, “Good Morning, look, here is a place for you right next to me. Come join me and we can spend the day together.” Moreover, if that were not enough, you find that the creator of the entire universe, is holding this special place just for you. The one, who controls the day and everything around you, just asked you to hang out with Him. What more solid footing in life could you possibly ask for? You are standing on a solid rock for sure.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Today when things get tense, remember where you are standing. When troubles creep up, remember with whom you are sharing this day. Today you are the invited friend of God All Mighty. Then tomorrow He will call again, “come, and stand by me.” My friend, these are life’s really good seats.

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

FEBRUARY 12, 2021 – Keep Your Nose Clean

Keep Your Nose Clean

FEBRUARY 12, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 12:24 The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

When I was a young boy, I would hear people say things like, “If you want to, you can grow up to be the President of the United States.” Others said, “If you work hard, and keep your nose clean, you can do, or be anything you want.” At the time, I really did not understand what my nose had to do with it, but I had seen some powerful people wipe their nose on TV, so I guessed it was true.

After I grew up a bit, I came to understand what they were saying was the same thing God’s Word has said all along. If you are diligent, and work hard, you can succeed in life. If you are lazy, always looking for a handout, and you think the world owes you something; you will always be under tribute or be owing to someone.

Often, I have found that those people who live by the rule or idea of always looking for someone else to take care of them, will also eventually lose everything they thought they owned. The truth of the matter is, we all must understand, God owns everything. We are simply stewards of His good will toward us.

Everything we do, the Bible says, we should do as unto the Lord. Therefore, if we work hard for the Lord, it is the Lord who supplies our every need.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God will never ask us to do more than we can do. However, He always expects us to do ALL that we can do. What can you do for the Lord today? Thank Him for this opportunity to be something for Him.

FEBRUARY 11, 2021 – What Should We Do?

What Should We Do?

FEBRUARY 11, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Luke 3:10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then?

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Everywhere you turn, and almost every day you will hear people asking this same question. What shall we do?

What shall we do about violence?
What shall we do about the needy?
What shall we do about broken homes?
What shall we do about drugs?
What shall we do about teen pregnancy?
What shall we do about sinful lifestyles?

What? What? Is there an answer? Is there anything or anyone who can help? The problem is today, people do not want to hear the truth. The answer to all these problems is today, as it has been for centuries, JESUS. When people give their lives to Jesus, and truly serve Him, we see a multitude of what were problems, turned around and lives are changed. These past situations can then be used to glorify God. We must turn to God by faith in His Son Jesus.

Most people today however want facts not faith. “Show me the facts,” they say. Well, if they would hear them, the facts are there. The fact is Jesus is the way the truth and the life. The fact is He died to cleanse us and help us overcome sin. The fact is if we were to spend more time winning people to Christ and teaching them the biblical way of life, there could be less violence, broken homes, drug problems, and teen pregnancy. The problem may be that people are just not listening. On the other hand, the problem may be that we as Christians are simply not telling them.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As today unfolds, listen to your family, co-workers, classmates, and friends. Listen for the question, “what can we do about…” or “what should be done about…” When you hear those words, you can be confident in telling them, JESUS is the answer. In every situation, you will be right. JESUS is always the answer.
