The Sun Is Always Shinning Somewhere

MARCH 11, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

John 8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

In the days of the writing of the New Testament, the Jewish Temple was designed in many sections and levels. In the innermost part was the Temple building itself, in which only priests could enter. Inside this Temple was the Holy of Holies, which only the High Priest could enter once a year. Around the Temple were courts. Each one elevated a little higher than the one before, leading up to the Temple itself. Eight feet below the Temple was the Court of the Priests. Three feet below that was the Court of Israel, only the men of Israel came there to do sacrifices. Ten feet below that was the Court of Women, where Jewish families came to worship God. Eight feet below that was the Outer Court or Court of Gentiles, a place where anyone could come to the Temple to worship God. If any Gentile went beyond the outer court, he or she would be liable for death.

In the Court of the Women, you would find trumpet shaped boxes for offerings and a large golden lamp stand that burned continually during the Feast of the Tabernacle. The bright radiant beam from the large candles would remind the Children of Israel how God was a Pillar of Light to lead them out of Egypt. Jesus often used everyday examples to make His point. Looking at this large Menorah, or Lamp Stand, the people heard Jesus once again refer to Himself as God, “the Light,” which can lead them from harm’s way. Jesus promised to lead them out of the darkness of sin, into the wonderful light of His love.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

As the sun shines somewhere twenty-four hours a day, so does the love of God. We may only see the sun for a few hours each day, but it never stops shinning. If we are not in a place for the Love of God to shine on us, it does not mean He quit loving us. We are simply in the wrong place.

MARCH 10, 2021 – Best Amusement Ride In The World

Best Amusement Ride In The World

MARCH 10, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 10:25 As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more: but the righteous is an everlasting foundation.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever gone to the carnival or town fair and found one ride that really tickles your fancy? I’m talking about the one that, if you could, you would build it in your back yard and ride it every day. You get on, get all situated, and then it begins. Nothing else seems to matter for those few minutes. All you can think about is how you feel on the ride at that moment. Then, right in the middle of all this fun, the ride begins to slow down, then stops, and you are ushered off to the side. It is all over.

Although they may not realize it, that is what life is like for lost people in this world. Satan has given them something that distracts them from the reality of life. All they have in mind is the fun for the moment. However, just as the ride at the fair has an end, so does every person’s life. Someday it will all stop, and they will be ushered off into eternity.

Just like a whirlwind which passes, and everyone is talking about it for a while, so is our life. Then, before we know it, it is over, and our life has gone the way of the passing whirlwind. For the lost without Christ, it will be an eternity in hell. However, for the Saved, those who are made righteous by the blood of Jesus Christ, it is an eternity in Heaven. Our Eternity has changed because of the “everlasting foundation” of our life, Jesus.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Do you know someone who is living on the roller coaster of life? The ride seems to have captivated all their attention. Pray today that you, or someone might get their attention and get them off the ride before it comes to its end. Help set their feet on the solid rock. This rock is Jesus.

March 09, 2021 – Some Very Important Words

Some Very Important Words

MARCH 09, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 62:2 He only is my rock and my salvation; he is my defence; I shall not be greatly moved.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

When reading through the Bible it is often easy to miss some of the most important things written. We look for those big statements that God has made. We search for a paragraph or chapter that will stir our hearts. However, often the most important things written are very small.

If it had to be a phrase, I guess it would be “He only is… my salvation.” This alone is so absolutely true. He is the only one who could bring about my Salvation.

However, if I had to select what I thought were the most important words in this verse today, they would be “HE ONLY.” Not He and, not He or, not He with… just “He Only.”

Today it seems many people want to go through life with the notion that, “God and I have done this or that.” Some live as if they partially trust in God, but also, they partially in what they can do to keep themselves saved. Sadly, for many people there is one word which confuses people into believing they can lose their salvation. They are trusting in “He AND”… instead of “HE ONLY.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

If we really wanted to break it down farther, to simply the one most important word, it would have to be just “HE.” “HE” is my rock. “HE” is my salvation. “HE” is my defense. “HE and “HE ONLY” is my everything. Thank Him today because “HE IS.”

MARCH 08, 2021 – God’s New Living Space

God’s New Living Space

MARCH 08, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Numbers 7:89 And when Moses was gone into the tabernacle of the congregation to speak with him, then he heard the voice of one speaking unto him from off the mercy seat that was upon the ark of testimony, from between the two cherubims: and he spake unto him.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

More amazing than all of what God has done for us, and all He has prepared for us, is the fact He would even communicate with us at all. After everything we have done, and yes, continue to do, He still desires to speak with us. How amazing is that?

When Moses had done his best, as God had commanded him to do, his real reward was that God spoke to him. What peace and a sense of satisfaction it had to have been for a man who endeavored to do God’s will. For him to know at the end of the day, God was pleased with him. God spoke with him in that special Holy Place.

It probably should be amazing to us as well that God would ever desire to speak to us, or even hear from us at all. Just think about it for a moment. Think of how we treat people around us who have done some silly little insignificant thing that has made us mad. We either yell at them, or often will just shut them out completely from our lives. Now consider how in the past we have treated loving Holy God. It is humbling to imagine God, in Holy perfection, would have a real desire to speak with us, to comfort us, to hold us up, and to love us. Yet, after all we have done to Him, He still loves us. How much? Well in Romans 5:8 it says, “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Today, that special Holy Place where God meets with us is in our heart. No longer does God dwell in the tabernacle built with hands, nor on the lid of an ark. He, through the Holy Spirit, dwells in each one of us who know Him as Saviour. And guess what? He still wants to talk with us today. He does this through His Word and through His Spirit. Will you spend a special time with Him today? He is waiting.

March 6 & 7, 2021 – Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan

Plan Your Work, Work Your Plan

MARCH 6 & 7, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 6:6-8Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Work hard, keep your nose to the grindstone, and make hay while the sun shines. These are sayings many of us heard when we were children. This has often been referred to as the American way. If you will stay out of trouble and work hard, you can be anything you want to be. People have proven this to be true over and over again.

However, it seems today, the American way has become waiting for a handout. Looking for someone else to care for life’s necessities. I know we have all had hard times and may need occasional help. This is often when the Church you are a member of will also step in to help one another during these times of need. I am not speaking here of those who need occasional assistance, those who are disabled, or people who cannot work. Yet sadly today we find many able-bodied people who have made living by handouts a way of life. Phrases such as, “play while you are young,” “you only go around once,” and “live with gusto,” seem to leave out the idea of planning for tomorrow. The Bible is clear, we are to plan financially, physically, and spiritually.

Scripture also tells us of rewards in heaven if we are diligent to follow God’s leading. Nevertheless, some Christians, who are good providers here in this life, have set up nothing for the life ahead. Matthew 6:19-21 says, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Spring is almost here. Most everyone is glad after a cold winter. However, with spring come ants. Everywhere you look, you will see them running here and there. They will start early preparing for next winter. As you see them running around, think to yourself, am I preparing also. Preparing for all that is to come.

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

There will not be a Daily Devotion sent out on Sundays. Instead we encourage you to attend your church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
