NOVEMBER 3, 2022 – A Sure Preservation

  A Sure Preservation

NOVEMBER 3, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 23-25 / 2 Timothy 3-4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As a young boy, I recall my mom canning various things. The windows would cover with condensation as the pressure cooker, letting off steam in the kitchen, made that rhythmic sound. She put whatever she was canning in jars with lids, cooked them, and would wait to hear the lid pop. Once it did, she knew the items in the jars would be good until the day she reopened it.
The Lord is my eternal preservation, as I have put my faith in what He has done for me. He went through the pressure of taking my sin to the cross. When He popped out of the tomb, He sealed my eternal destiny. Paul said, “and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom.” This is a sure preservation.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Have you been sealed by God’s Holy Spirit for all of eternity?

NOVEMBER 2, 2022 – A Sure Foundation

  A Sure Foundation

NOVEMBER 2, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 20-22 / 2 Timothy 1-2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

How many different denominations of the Christian faith are there? I am talking of those who believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation. Hundreds? Maybe thousands? All with their own take on scripture. How many different versions of the Bible are there today? As you know, I use only the KJV as a tried-and-true copy of God’s Word. However, there are hundreds of variations out there today. Confusing? It could be.
There is however, one thing we can know for sure. God is still God. He has never changed, and He never will. Our salvation is still in Jesus Christ alone, and the Word of God is a sure Word. What Paul told Timothy is still true today. The foundation of God stands sure.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you building your life on a sure foundation?

NOVEMBER 1, 2022 – I Want Just A Little More

I Want Just A Little More

NOVEMBER 1, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 16-19 / 1 Timothy 6

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Timothy 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

How easy it is for us to want just a little bit more than what we have. Not desiring a lot, just a little more. Then, if God is gracious enough to grant us that little bit more, we begin to want just a bit more than that. We do not think of ourselves as wanting to be rich, yet our desire for things seems to rule our hearts and lives.
This is what God warned us of here in Timothy. Why? Because the constant desire for more will cause us to miss church, abandon fellowship, and even worse, miss our private time with God in His Word and prayer. For what? So we might be able to work more hours to have just a little more. Wealth is not a sin. It is sinful however to chase it, and abandon God.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What do you want from God today, wealth or wisdom?

OCTOBER 31, 2022 – It’s Still Right To Be Polite

It’s Still Right To Be Polite

October 31,, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 13-15 / 1 Timothy 5

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Timothy 5:1-2 Rebuke not an elder, but intreat him as a father; and the younger men as brethren; The elder women as mothers; the younger as sisters, with all purity.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Recently I pulled up to a drive-through restaurant my wife and I occasionally enjoy to order our meals. When I pulled ahead to pick up my order the girl at the window said, “I knew it was you.” I asked, “How did you know?” She replied, “You are the only one who says yes and no ma’am and thank you anymore.”
Fact is, it seems that manners have gone out the window in today’s day and age. The Bible says we are to respect older men and women and be kind-hearted to younger men and women. Please and thank you, Yes sir, No Sir, and Excuse me please, are still recognized and appreciated. It is still right to be polite. Who knows, today you just might be recognized for it.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you stand out by standing up for being polite?

  Bon Appetit

OCTOBER 29 & 30
Daily Reading – Jer. 10-12 / 1 Tim. 4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

1 Timothy 4:4-5 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Today’s food studies contradict one another. Some say red meat is bad for you, while others say it is ok. Some say never eat bacon, yet others encourage you to put bacon in everything, including ice cream.
I believe the key to it all is moderation, taste, allergies, and thankfulness. Any food, overdone can harm you. Moderation is a good practice with all foods. Some things just do not taste good to some people. No one should be made to eat food that tastes bad to him or her. Allergies play a part in what a person can and cannot eat as well. The Bible adds that nothing is to be refused as long as you know who provides it and you tell God thanks.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you take the time to tell God thanks
for all His provisions for you today?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
