AUGUST 15 & 16—A Child Is Born

A Child Is Born

Romans 7:4 Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Time and again, we have seen couples meet, fall in love, marry, and not long after, announce a new life in their home. A child is born from their love and relationship. God’s Word calls this being fruitful. After the flood, God told Noah’s family in Genesis 9:1b… “Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.”

When we accepted Christ as Saviour, we became part of the Bride of Christ. Paul said here in Romans 7:4, we are dead to the law and married to Christ. He then adds, “that we should bring forth fruit unto God.” He is talking about us reproducing ourselves. How? By sharing the gospel with others and winning them to Christ.

AUGUST 14, 2026—Still Not Good Enough

Still Not Good Enough

Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

I meet people all the time who somehow believe they need to clean up their lives before they can be saved. They think they must quit drinking, smoking, drugs, cussing, or something before God would accept them. Even worse are those who accept Christ as Saviour and then try to work to keep themselves saved. Hey folks, we will never be good enough to be saved.

What a joy to know that in Romans 5, it says God loved us so much that even while we were still in our sin, Christ died for us. Once we accept Christ, then God begins the cleansing process. I like the fishing analogy I heard for winning people to the Lord. It went, “We catch ‘em, God cleans them.

AUGUST 13, 2026—Will You Believe It?

Will You Believe It?

Romans 4:20-22 He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.

When I was little, we would play a kind of silly game. We would place a bat, tip on the ground, standing up with the handle toward the sky. Next, we would place our foreheads on the bat handle and then spin around and around, then let go and try to walk. Needless to say, we were dizzy and staggering everywhere. We had no control over it until the dizziness wore off.

Many people today are living dizzy lives. They run round and round in circles from one quick fix in life to another. Then wonder why their life is staggering back and forth. If God is the center of our life, and we make Him the answer to life’s situations, the staggering will stop. Abraham staggered not at the promises of God.

AUGUST 12, 2026—Faith Plus NOTHING!

Faith Plus NOTHING!

Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

At an Evangelistic service, during the invitation, the evangelist clearly presented the Gospel. From the pulpit, he led people in a prayer that, if said from the heart to God, was accepting Christ as Saviour by faith. When finished, he asked those who had prayed that prayer to come forward. Some did, some did not.

I was invited later to visit a man who was there. In our conversation, he said he wanted to be saved. He believed Christ died for him and His blood paid the price for his sin. He said, “I prayed with the evangelist, but I’m nervous in crowds and didn’t walk forward.” He feared that since he did not go forward, he was not saved. Oh, what joy to share that salvation is not by deeds, works, or a walk, but by faith. I later baptized this man.

AUGUST 11, 2026—You Know

You Know

Romans 2:11-12 For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;

People will ask about the fate of those who do not know there is a God. Will they go to hell? Yet the Bible says, You Know! If we read past Romans 2:12, it says our thoughts and conscience bear witness in our hearts that there is a God. It speaks of people not having the law, God’s written Word. Yet there is still no excuse. Why? Because in their hearts they know.

It is natural to know it is wrong to kill another person. Why? Because we know life is valuable. We know that committing adultery is a sin. Why? Because God placed in our hearts moral boundaries concerning love. Everyone will be either judged by the written law of God or by the law of God written in the heart.
