Building On Discipleship
November 14, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Romans 15:20-21
Yea, so have I strived to preach the gospel, not where Christ was named, lest I should build upon another man’s foundation: But as it is written, To whom he was not spoken of, they shall see: and they that have not heard shall understand.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

Some churches today are growing while at the same time, others are dying. It appears that while one is gaining membership, another begins to lose all its members. This is in part because many people no longer have any loyalty to their church. If someone makes me mad, I will pack up my stuff and move down the road to the next church. There is no trying to work out differences, no trying to help a brother in need, or acting like a Christian and trying to help the church grow through tough times. It is easier to pack up than to pray up and easier to leave than to love.

You hear the excuse, “I just cannot talk with people.” Often, the truth should be stated as, “I just won’t talk with people involved in the problem, and I will only talk with those who will listen to me cry about my side of the problem.” Some say, “I just did not feel comfortable there anymore.” Well, God’s Word never said you were going to be comfortable all your life. My friend, if you are in a church where you always feel comfortable, then they probably are not preaching the Whole Counsel of God’s Word. You ought to feel convicted from time to time. You ought to be working through situations in your life. The Bible says the preaching is for the “perfecting of the saints,” not the patting on the back of the saints.

There are those rare occasions when you have tried to reconcile differences and cannot. Situations you have prayed about and tried to make things better, or the church has gone in a direction away from scripture. However, those occasions are few. Paul was telling the church; I do not want to build a church on another man’s work. We should win the lost to Christ and disciple them to live for God.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God does call men and women to other churches to serve in various ministries. When this happens, it is usually a good parting of ways. Let’s spend most of our time getting people out of hell and not out of churches.

What do you see as a Biblical way to depart from a church?

IF YOU ARE JOURNALING:

Ask yourself, what are MY THOUGHTS concerning this Passage and today’s Devotion?

Do I find within this reading a CHALLENGE for my life?

What are one or two things I WILL DO today or this week to accept that CHALLENGE?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 13:3
Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

You can hardly turn on the TV anymore without seeing some so-called TV Evangelist giving other real preachers a bad name. Why would I make such a claim? Well, it is because they often claim they have received extra revelations that are not in scripture. It is by claiming to have a word from God on someone’s healing. I never saw people in the Bible with telepathic revelations about others’ healing miles away. Jesus was the only one who knew the beginning from the end and could do so.

I turned the TV on the other day and there was a man begging for money (like this surprises you, right…) with a table full of pieces of paper. There were hundreds of slips of paper where people had called in with a deep need, pledging “x” amount of dollars, expecting a miracle from their so-called seed pledge. This TV charlatan said, “In a moment I will be laying my hands on this pile of prayer requests, and I hear in my spirit, (small “s” on purpose,) when I pray that millions of people are going to be healed all over the world.” Right behind the man making this claim was a large plate-glass window. Behind the window were operators on the phone, taking prayer pledges. In the front row of these operators was a young woman answering phones with a huge white neck brace. If this man can heal people all over the world, why did he not heal the woman right behind him, working for him? The reason is simple: he cannot heal people. Nor can I, or anyone else. God can, and still does heal, and He never charges a person one dime to do so. Their faith was not tied to their pocketbooks. “Woe unto the foolish prophets…” When a man stands to preach the Word, make sure he is preaching God’s Word, not his own.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

People want to believe in something so badly that they will often believe a lie. Do not fall for the fakes, fall in front of the Father. If you need healing, don’t go to a coliseum, go to Christ. He still does heal people. In His time, in His way, and by His will, He still works wonders in the lives of His own. Put your faith in Him. Have you witnessed God’s healing power in you or in others?

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 111:5
He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

When I was younger, when I would see the word GUARANTEED on things, I thought, “Well, this will be good forever, it is guaranteed.” Why in the world would they guarantee something if it would break? That just did not make sense to me.

However, as I grew older, I learned a few things about Guarantees. One of those things was that the Guarantee was only as good as the company that made the claim. As a young boy, I believed that every big company that had enough money to make something would just be there forever in case anything went wrong with their product. Oh, the innocence of childhood. As I have grown older, and I guess a little wiser, now I know that not all companies are reputable and not every person is trustworthy. Sadly, this colors the decisions that all adults must make. So, how do I make big decisions now? If the guarantee matters, then I look at the manufacturer to see how long they have been in business. I try to find out if the products they have made have had problems. Did they take care of the problems if they did? I just want to know a little about who is making this GUARANTEE.

God’s Guarantees meet all those criteria. One thing we can rely on is that God has been around for a long time (a very long time). God has always taken care of the products He has made (Us). He has a great retirement program that has never been beaten (Heaven). He is as stable as anything anyone can think of (and better). In our verse today, it says, “He hath given meat unto them that fear Him.” This simply means He has provided for those who have given themselves to Him to love and serve Him. “He will ever be mindful of his covenant,” says He will never break a promise. This means His Guarantees are absolutely solid. You can trust them forever.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

In a world that seems mixed up on values and promises, it is good to know at least one thing is still always true. The Word of God has never been proven wrong. Never! Why, because it is never wrong. You can rely on God and His word. This, my friend, is GUARANTEED.

Do you find in your life the Word of God as trustworthy always?

God Keeps His Promises
November 11, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 1:1-2 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

People in general never change. We may change our outward appearance a bit. Our lifestyles might change some. However, overall, people never really change. Adam and Eve started it all when they thought, “God won’t care if we eat just one bite… It is such a little sin. Surely, He won’t be too mad.” Do you remember the attitude of the people of Noah’s time? They may have said, “A flood, rain, what is rain? God is not that mad at us, Noah. Just look around you and see. He has not punished us yet, has He? Just leave us alone.” Then there were the Children of Israel spoken of in today’s verses, saying in essence, “God is not coming back. He has forsaken us. We have everything we need without Him. He is not even watching. Ezekiel, get a life.”

Still today, after all the evidence of the accuracy of God’s promises, people say, “I have never seen Jesus in the sky, so why should I believe that it will happen today?” They may not say it with their mouth, but with their lives, people say, “Really? My grandparents believed He was coming, my parents believed it too, and they have died, and He still did not come back. Preacher quit bothering us with this legalistic garbage of not sinning. God does not care about our little sins. He only cares about the big ones that I have not committed. Will you please leave us alone?”

However, just as with all those in the past who did not believe and mocked His coming and His judgment, there is still a price to pay for sin. His promises are sure. He shall return in the twinkling of an eye. Where will you be found on that day?

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

God’s Word says He will not be mocked. You cannot live a sinful life that makes a mockery of Christ’s death for that sin and still expect His blessings. If you do not care about His blessings, then you probably do not know Him. For me to live is CHRIST.

What do you think it means to mock God?

Do You Feel Safe?
November 10, 2025

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

THOUGHTS ON GOD’S WORD:

JAILED! INCARCERATED! IMPRISONED! LOCKED AWAY! All these words sound scary to most of us. The idea of being put somewhere, the doors locked, and never being able to get out, sounds way too restrictive. Most people just want to be free. Free to roam around and do what they will. Now, if I use words like SAFETY, PROTECTION, SECURITY, or PROVIDED FOR, these words all sound good to us. Why? It gives us a sense of peace and happiness to know we are safe and taken care of. Guess what? People in jail are, for the most part, safe, protected, secure, and provided for. So, what makes the difference?

Jail and Prison are somewhere where we are usually placed against our will. We do not choose to go there. We are placed there because we have violated others’ rights. However, if there was a riot in the streets and an abandoned prison building close by, you might choose to go there for a time to escape the riot. You would be safe inside its walls.

In the past, villages would build walls around their city to keep out attackers. People today put in security systems, build fences, etc., just to feel safe. These are all just bigger borders we voluntarily place ourselves in for protection. We live in houses with locks, in cities with Police, in a State with a National Guard, and in a nation with a military that protects us. We are free within the boundaries of our voluntary borders. Leave the country, and you are warned when you go, “You go at your own risk, and we cannot guarantee your safety out there.” In our verse today, we can find safety in one word. The word is “IN.” Those who are IN Christ Jesus, you are safe, secure, protected, and provided for because you voluntarily placed yourself in Him.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Once you place yourself IN Him, you are eternally safe. You can never leave Him. In case you forgot, He is everywhere, so where would you go? On the other hand, maybe you think you might be strong enough to break free from His hold. OOPS! That won’t happen either. Cause you are NOT THAT STRONG. You are safe IN JESUS!

What does it mean to you to be IN Christ Jesus?
