NOVEMBER 7, 2022 – I’ve Heard About You

  I’ve Heard About You

NOVEMBER 7, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 32-34 / Philemon

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Philemon 1:4-5 I thank my God, making mention of thee always in my prayers, Hearing of thy love and faith, which thou hast toward the Lord Jesus, and toward all saints;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In conversation, I have asked people if they knew of a certain person or not. Occasionally I will hear, “I do not really know them, but I have heard of them.” That can be good or bad, depending on whom they talked to, and what they have said about their testimony.
Paul tells Philemon and the church that he has been praying for them, and that he has heard good things about them. He had heard that their love and faith in Christ had been shown not only in the church, but also to all believers who came by. The word had spread, and Paul was so glad to hear it. Whether we like it or not, people talk about us and how we live.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

If someone asked about you and they said, “I’ve heard about them,” what has your life left them to talk about?

NOVEMBER 5 & 6, 2022 – Why Do We Do Good Works

Why Do We Do Good Works

NOVEMBER 5 & 6, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 30-31 / Titus 2-3

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Titus 3:8 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Pastors are constantly asking people to do things in the church. Ministries always need more workers. The question is, why should we do good works anyway?
Do we do good deeds for salvation? Today’s verse speaks to, “They which have believed.” The bible says, works cannot save us. So, is it to pay God back for giving Christ to save us? Ask yourself, how much would you charge to give up your child in death? Good works could never pay Him back. Look at the verse again. It says we are to maintain or continue in good works because they are good and profitable unto men. Why do we do good works? Because they glorify God by showing God’s love through us.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What does your life show others about your God in you?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.

NOVEMBER 4, 2022 – Exposed What’s Enclosed

  Exposed What’s Enclosed

NOVEMBER 4, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 26-29 / Titus 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Titus 1:15-16 Unto the pure all things are pure: but unto them that are defiled and unbelieving is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled. They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In a poll released in 2015 by the Pew Research Center it was said since 2007 the share of Americans who say they are “absolutely certain” that God exists has dropped by 8%, from 71% to 63%. Those who say they are “religiously affiliated” shrunk 6%, from 83% to 77%. Those who consider religion, prayer, bible reading, and church attendance important declined 3-4%. Is it any wonder the United States is in trouble?
Paul warned Titus of this in Titus 1:16 “They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.” People say they love the Lord yet live as if He does not matter.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Does how we live expose what’s enclosed in our heart?

NOVEMBER 3, 2022 – A Sure Preservation

  A Sure Preservation

NOVEMBER 3, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 23-25 / 2 Timothy 3-4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Timothy 4:18 And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As a young boy, I recall my mom canning various things. The windows would cover with condensation as the pressure cooker, letting off steam in the kitchen, made that rhythmic sound. She put whatever she was canning in jars with lids, cooked them, and would wait to hear the lid pop. Once it did, she knew the items in the jars would be good until the day she reopened it.
The Lord is my eternal preservation, as I have put my faith in what He has done for me. He went through the pressure of taking my sin to the cross. When He popped out of the tomb, He sealed my eternal destiny. Paul said, “and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom.” This is a sure preservation.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Have you been sealed by God’s Holy Spirit for all of eternity?

  A Sure Foundation

NOVEMBER 2, 2022
Daily Reading – Jeremiah 20-22 / 2 Timothy 1-2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

2 Timothy 2:19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

How many different denominations of the Christian faith are there? I am talking of those who believe that Jesus is the only way of salvation. Hundreds? Maybe thousands? All with their own take on scripture. How many different versions of the Bible are there today? As you know, I use only the KJV as a tried-and-true copy of God’s Word. However, there are hundreds of variations out there today. Confusing? It could be.
There is however, one thing we can know for sure. God is still God. He has never changed, and He never will. Our salvation is still in Jesus Christ alone, and the Word of God is a sure Word. What Paul told Timothy is still true today. The foundation of God stands sure.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you building your life on a sure foundation?
