OCTOBER 13, 2022 – Let The Light Out

  Let The Light Out

OCTOBER 13, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 26-28 / Phil. 2

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Philippians 2:14-15 Do all things without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

The lighthouse keeper, back when the light was a large oil lamp, was an important work that many lives depended upon. Every morning he would turn down the wick to extinguish the flame and refill the oil. He then used a special grit free cloth to clean the Fresnel lens, and its many prisms, of soot that built up during the night. He was to make sure the lighthouse was always ready to shine a light of rescue in the darkness. The lighthouse was always manned, never left vacant.
Christians need to be like that keeper. We must daily attend to a clean life by asking God to forgive us and refilling the oil by reading His Word. Always ready to be used by him to shine a light into a dark world.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are you ready to let His light shine through you today?

OCTOBER 12, 2022 – Confidence Equals Peace

  Confidence Equals Peace

OCTOBER 12, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 23-25 / Phil. 1

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

“I am confident.” My pastor for many years, Brother Grooms, used this phrase often while preaching. The more I think on it, the more I realize, confidence is really just another way of saying, “I have peace.”
Paul said He was confident that God begins a work in us when we accept Jesus as Saviour. How peaceful it is to know, God is present, and working in our lives. Not only has he begun a work, but He will also perform it, or continue to act upon that work. Meaning He will never grow tired of us, nor ever quit performing this work in us all the days of our lives on earth.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Don’t you enjoy a sense of peace in the confidence that God is still with you and working on your life today?

OCTOBER 11, 2022 – Good Work = Great Reward

  Good Work = Great Reward

OCTOBER 11, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 19-22 / Eph. 6

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 6:7-8 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men: Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

People have tried to apply these verses to salvation. They believe that they will be allowed into heaven because of good works. However, this passage is not about salvation. It is about how a saved person ought to live their lives. Paul is saying good works will equal great rewards. No works equals no rewards.
Paul is telling the church, do not work to please the boss while he is watching, work for the Lord who is always watching. He also says, do it with the right heart. Not feeling bitter about having to work. Instead, doing it with good will, rejoicing to have a job and grateful God gives you the health to perform it. Work for the Lord and He will reward you. Work for man and all you get is money.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

For whom are you working?

OCTOBER 10, 2022 – Pucker Up And Whistle

  Pucker Up And Whistle

OCTOBER 10, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 15-18 / Eph. 5

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Oh, the joy of knowing that Jesus loved us enough to come to earth and die on a cross for us. Not only did He die, but also rose again and lives today making intercession for us at the throne of grace. It makes you want to sing. However, some say they cannot sing. I heard a man say that he was cut out to be a singer but was sewn up all wrong. I say if you cannot sing, pucker up and whistle. Make a joyful noise.
Psalms, Hymns, and spiritual songs. What are the differences? Ask 20 musical people, get 20 variations of the answers. I like the end of the verse “making melody in your heart to the Lord.” That is a simple answer.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What tune is playing in your heart today?

OCTOBER 8 & 9, 2022 – No, Never Alone

  No, Never Alone

OCTOBER 8 & 9, 2022
Daily Reading – Isa. 11-14 / Eph. 4

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

As believers, we are never alone in this world. Even when we are alone, we are still not alone. God said He would never leave us. He does that through His Holy Spirit dwelling in us 24 hours a day, every day.
Once we realize God is with us all the time, it should make a big difference in what we do, think, read, and say. If how we live might bring sorrow and grief to God, why would we want to do it? Paul said, “grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.” In verses before, and after this statement, he shares things that bring sorrow to the Holy Spirit who is always with us, sealing us until we go home to be with God.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Reading Eph. 4:25-32, is it possible we may have grieved Him lately?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
