JULY 7, 2022 – Will You Be A Barnabas

  Will You Be A Barnabas

JULY 7, 2022
Daily Reading – 2 Chron. 31-33 / Acts 9:20-43

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 9:26-27 And when Saul was come to Jerusalem, he assayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared unto them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Saul was not a nice guy. Not a nice guy at all. At least, the Saul of the past that is. He would go around, gathering up those who professed faith in Christ, and bring them back to be killed for their faith. He even gained the authority from those in power to do so. Therefore, when he accepted Christ as Saviour, many people were very skeptical of his salvation and afraid of him. Yet Barnabas stood up for him, and with him.
Sometimes young Christians get the same feeling, that people do not really believe they are saved. The sin in their past, though washed away by the blood of Christ, makes some people skeptical. Sometimes the new believer needs a Barnabas to stand with them in their new life in Christ.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Would you help someone in his or her new life
and be someone’s Barnabas?

JULY 6, 2022 – Behold, I Am Here, Lord

  Behold, I Am Here, Lord

JULY 6, 2022
Daily Reading – 2 Chron. 28-30 / Acts 9:1-19

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 9:10 And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Acts 9 tells of the wonderful account of Saul’s Damascus Road conversion to Christ. Saul, who is also the Apostle Paul, began many New Testament churches, wrote the majority of the New Testament by the leading of the Holy Spirit, and did some mighty wonderful things for God. We might get caught up in that story and miss another great man as well.
Ananias was a devote man of God. Not an apostle, not a pastor, nor a prophet. Just a faithful man, who when called upon by God was listening and responded with, “Behold, I am here, Lord.” God did not call us all to be the next great preacher or teacher. However, He does expect us to be ready when He calls.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Would you be listening today and ready to say,
“Behold, I am here, Lord” if He called you today?

JULY 5, 2022 – Sit With Me

  Sit With Me

JULY 5, 2022
Daily Reading – 2 Chron. 24-27 / Acts 8

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 8:30-31 And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest? And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

With all the versions of the Bible out there, which all claim to simplify and modernize the language, you would think that the Bible would be totally distributed to everyone and completely understood. Yet today there is more Bible illiteracy than you might imagine. Many people have a bible; some even read it on occasion. Yet they do not seem to understand it.
Philip came upon a man who had God’s Word, was reading it, but did not understand it. He asked Philip, “sit with me,” or in other words, teach me. There are many people today just like him. People who have a Bible. People you could help in understanding, but they are afraid to ask. Maybe all they need is someone to ask them a Bible question and take time to sit with them.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Who do you know that you might ask?

JULY 4, 2022 – When We Are Really Free

  When We Are Really Free

JULY 4, 2022
Daily Reading – 2 Chron. 21-23 / Acts 7:30-60

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 7:55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Today on the Fourth of July in the United States, we celebrate the Independence of our Country. Free to live apart from any other country’s rule or control. This is a freedom that many a man and woman have given their life to defend. We thank them for their sacrifice.
In today’s verse, Stephen saw his freedom at hand. It says He looked up and saw Jesus standing at the right hand of God. One day we as believers will also see Jesus standing at the right hand of the Father.

Today if you are saved, you have been set free from the penalty and the price of sin. We will be really free when we are also set free from the presences of sin.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Will you believe God can and will help you with your faith?

JULY 2 & 3, 2022 – They Understood Not

  They Understood Not

JULY 2 & 3, 2022
Daily Reading – 2 Chron. 18-20 / Acts 7:1-29

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Acts 7:25 For he supposed his brethren would have understood how that God by his hand would deliver them: but they understood not.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Poor ol Moses. He smote an Egyptian, saved the Israelite boy, and still, the Jewish boys did not like him. It has long been said that Egypt in the Bible is a picture of this sinful world. God brought Israel out of Egypt, just as He brings those who come know Him as Saviour out of sin and the world. Moses was trying to help, but the verse said, “they understood not.”
At times, when we try to help people break free from sin and the world, they turn on us. Why is that? Well, for the same reason, they understand not. Moses did finally lead Israel out of Egypt, but it took time. Friends let’s not give up on those bound and enslaved by the world and sin. They may not understand why we do it, but we must keep on trying

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Is not their eternal destiny worth our continued efforts?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
