APRIL 7, 2022 – A Little Or A Lot

A Little Or A Lot

APRIL 7, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 10-11 / Luke 7:36-50

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 7:47 Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

How much do we love God? According to today’s passage in Luke, it may depend on how much we think we were forgiven. If we think we are not that bad and that God only had to forgive just a little bit of sin to save us, we may only love God a little.

However, if we ever get the true picture of the sinfulness of our soul, when God through the precious blood of His Son, washed away our sins, we will love Him a lot. We must remember, at our best we are as filthy rags before the perfect righteousness of a Holy God.

Imagine a white shirt. Now spill gravy on just one spot. What shows up, the clean shirt or the spot? It is the filthiness of the spot that gets the attention. Is the shirt now clean or dirty? It takes very little sin for us to be totally filthy.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

How much do you love God now?

APRIL 06, 2022 – A Look Toward The Future

A Look Toward The Future

APRIL 06, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 7-9 / Luke 7:1-35

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 7:28 For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

John the Baptist was by far one of the greatest prophets who ever lived. Maybe not in the magnitude of prophecies that he shared, but in the clarity of his purpose of foretelling Jesus’ coming, and his direct connection with Christ, he by far outshines them all.

Jesus however said the least of those in the kingdom of God would be greater than John. How could this be? Well, as close as John was to Jesus, a believer today is just as close with the Holy Spirit residing in them.

As to the clarity of Christ’s purpose, we now have the entire Word of God to see the beginning and the end, which John did not have. We can say with surety as John said back then. “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.”

What will you do with this great responsibility today?

APRIL 5, 2022 – Do You Want Good Fruit?

Do You Want Good Fruit?

APRIL 5, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 4-6 / Luke 6:20-49

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 6:43-44 For a good tree bringeth not forth corrupt fruit; neither doth a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. For every tree is known by his own fruit. For of thorns men do not gather figs, nor of a bramble bush gather they grapes.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

There are two ways to read today’s verses.

The first has to do with where you gather your fruit. If you want good fruit in your life, you gather it where good fruit is produced. By associating with the right people, going to the right places, and reading the right literature. Good fruit does not come from corrupt trees.

The second is, what kind of fruit are you producing in the lives of others? A good tree will produce good fruit. It does not bring forth corrupt fruit. Everyone is known by the fruit they produce.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

If someone were to take the first part of this devotion to heart, would they see your fruit as good or corrupt?

APRIL 4, 2022 – What To Do Today

What To Do Today

APRIL 4, 2022
Daily Reading – Joshua 1-3 / Luke 6:1-19

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Luke 6:9 Then said Jesus unto them, I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

Jesus said, “I will ask you one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do evil? to save life, or to destroy it?” This is a good rule of thumb every day for all who know Christ as our Saviour.

What will you do with today? Will you do good or evil. Will you live a life to glorify God or to elevate self and the world? How we answer the second part of the question may depend on how we answer the first part. Whether we save a life or destroy it.

See if we live a life to glorify God, people who are watching us will then see God in us. It may save their life eternally if they see in us something different from the world. However, if they see the same in us as they do in the world, why would they turn to Christ? It may very well destroy them eternally.

APRIL 2 & 3, 2022 – Two Calls

Two Calls

APRIL 02 & 03, 2022
Daily Reading – Deuteronomy 32–34 / Luke 5:27-39
Daily Reading – No Reading on Sunday

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

uke 5:31-32 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

In today’s verses, we see two calls. Jesus said, “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Why was that? It was because, if a person is already saved, they are whole. They are already a new creation in Christ who will search to grow in Him. The unsaved, the sin sick, need help.

The second call may not be as obvious. However, we see Jesus knowing exactly what He is called to do. He does not get distracted by others suggesting what would be best. Jesus knew His calling here on earth.

We also have two calls. The first call is vocal, given to the ears of all who will listen. The second is a call to our hearts, to go into all the world and make the first call.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

Are these callings clear in your life?

WHAT TO DO ON SUNDAY:

On Sundays, we encourage you to attend your local church and listen intently to what God has prepared in the heart of your Pastor. Write down all the scriptures he uses in that message, then, when you get home re-read those passages for today’s reading. God has given to your Pastor exactly what He desires for you on that day.
