Daily Reading – Genesis 46-48 / Matthew 15:1-20

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    There is a lot of showiness in many churches today. I am not saying it is all bad or carnal. However, I am not saying it is all God honoring either. You can put on a great production, have it all sound good, even call the name of Jesus from time to time, and yet not honor God.

    Worship is not about the professionalism of the show. Worship is about the purpose of the heart.

    This week many who read this will attend what is called a Worship Service. However, we must remember, worship is not about how well you sing or how many times you say amen. For it to be a genuine worship service you need to draw near to God with your heart.    

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

    How can your worship of God today prepare you to better worship God this Sunday?

Someone’s Listening

Daily Reading – Genesis 44-45  /  Matthew 14

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 14:23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:  

      Think back to when something special happen in your life. What did you want to do? You wanted to tell the most important person in your life all about it. As I read today’s verse, I see Jesus doing the same thing.

    He sent the disciples and the multitudes away and went to be alone to have a wonderful conversation with His Father. That conversation is one I would love to have overheard. He thanked God, His Father and best friend, for blessing not only the food, but also the entire day. Not a quick chat, but a long enjoyable talk.

    Today, God will be involved in your life. He will most likely do some awesome things if we will ask Him to and then just watch for it.
   

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

    Who is the most important person in your life with whom you will want to share this with? Someone is listening you know!

Honor God

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 13:57-58 And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house. And he did not many mighty works there because of their unbelief.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Today’s verses says Jesus was not honored in His own country. Many pastors have looked for ministries away from where they grew up for this reason. However, read it again. Not only was He not honored in His own country, but also in His own house. It may have been they were too familiar with Jesus to see what God wanted to do through Him.

  Many today have walked away from God’s House, the church, and fellowship. They feel they have heard it, seen it, and do not really need any more. However, could it be that in doing so they are not honoring Jesus again in His own House? He just might use them if they would stay.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

What might He do in our midst if we would stay
in awe of Him and all He can do?

WHAT GOD HAS SAID:

Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

WHAT I HAVE SEEN:

    Way too often, I have heard people make excuses for what they listen to by the way of music, or watch on TV and movies, or read in literature. They make claims such as, “it is just a movie, just a song, or it is just a book.” However, the truth is that whatever we allow in our hearts and minds will in some way show up in our lives and eventually come out of our mouth.

    Computer geek programmers have a term they use, “GARBAGE IN, GARBAGE OUT.” It means if you want good results out of your program you must put good programming in.

    Your brain is the most high-powered computer ever designed. One day you will give an account for every word programmed into it.
