What He Says, He Does

NOVEMBER 19, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Ezekiel 22:14 Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee? I the LORD have spoken it, and will do it.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Sometimes what we say we will do, and what we actually do are two completely different things. It is not that we outright decided to lie to someone. We had no idea of the circumstances ahead of us. So, we occasionally make promises that are broken, leaving people discouraged with us. And yes, it happens to everyone. Everyone that is, except God

God’s promises are sure. He knows the future completely, so He can make promises and not worry about latter circumstances. This is good. Then again, this can be terrifying. If you are today a born-again Christian, then this is wonderful. You are standing in the most secure place of all. All God’s promises of a blessed home in heaven are sure. No circumstances can ever change it. He will provide for your needs and take care of you as you follow and serve Him. All the promises toward you as a Christian are true, and they will all come true. On the other hand, if you are not saved and standing outside of the will of God, all the promises for you are just as sure.

If God asked you the questions in today’s verse, what would your response be? “Can thine heart endure, or can thine hands be strong, in the days that I shall deal with thee?” Do you think you can stand against an almighty God on Judgment Day and somehow win against clear truths of your life? No friend, when God deals with you, He will deal with justice. You will be judged by your sin and found guilty. How can I say this for sure? God’s Word says so for sure, and as this verse says, if the Lord has spoken it, He will do it.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

There is good news if you do not know Christ as Saviour. You still can. Humble your heart, ask Him to forgive your sin, come into your heart, and be your Saviour. By faith believe on Jesus’ death and resurrection for salvation, and mean it, He will save you. Find a local Church and talk with the pastor about your decision. Friend, you just received many new promises that can never be broken. The Lord has spoken them, He will do them.

Where He Leads Me!

NOVEMBER 18, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Acts 23:11 And the night following the Lord stood by him, and said, Be of good cheer, Paul: for as thou hast testified of me in Jerusalem, so must thou bear witness also at Rome.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Have you ever wanted to begin a new project, start, or update a ministry, and then you run into someone who says; “NO, I do not think you ought to do that!” When asked why the response is similar to, “Well I just don’t, I do not like it.”

How frustrating it can be for a Pastor or leader to hear well-meaning individuals share what appears to be childlike feelings. It seems there is a lack of prayer and absolutely no Biblical reasoning behind this type of response. How do you help someone understand the scriptural relevance of something if they are not in the scripture? If they operate on feelings, how can you show them the truth in the word? If God is directing you to do something and someone says, “No, I just do not like it,” what do you do?

Prior to today’s verse, by about now in his service to the Lord, Paul must have felt this way. He finds himself in prison, facing possible execution, attacked on every side, and uncertain of what to do next. However, God came to him and said in essence, “You are not done yet; I have work for you to do in Rome.” Oh, how this must have brightened his day. Was he still being persecuted? Yes! Was he still incarcerated? Yes! Does he have any idea of how he is going to get out of this mess? Not really. Except, God said he was going to Rome. Therefore, he knew he was not done yet. They could now come at him with all their empty threats for he knew they could not kill him. Why, because God said, he was going to Rome. All he had to do is keep his eyes on God, follow His lead and he could not lose. God will win over man every time.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Are you facing a struggle in life? Do you know that where God’s leading you are scriptural? Are you claiming the promises of His Word and not just your own feeling? If you can answer yes to these questions, then take heart. God is not through with you yet. Believe the promises of God and move forward, because Jesus Never Fails.

Love Those Grandchildren

NOVEMBER 16, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 17:6 Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Just get around any grandparent, mention their grandchildren and you will see a book full of pictures, and hear an hour’s worth of tales on how wonderful and how magnificent their grandchildren are. These children are able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, diapers, and all.

I joke about it, but the Bible told us centuries ago this was how it is supposed to be. “Children’s Children are the crown of old men,” (including also, gracefully aging women). Grandparents will talk more about the accomplishments of a 5-year-old in kindergarten than about their own children, even if their child is a rocket scientist who went to the moon.

Furthermore, it is a great blessing for parents who are fortunate enough, to be able to introduce their children to their grandparents. Grandma and grandpa have so many more exciting stories to tell, and often, more time to tell them.

My wife, our children, and I are extremely fortunate in that we had godly men to look to for examples in our lives. My father and my wife’s father were both wonderful examples of God-fearing men, (in addition to being the family jokesters on occasion,) before they passed into glory. We also had a third Fatherly example to look to as well, God, our Heavenly Father.

I count myself truly fortunate to have three Godly forefathers as examples to pass on to my children. Nevertheless, if I had only one, and if that one was God the Father, He would be enough. “The glory of children are their fathers.” I sure love all the fathers in my life.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Have you introduced your children to their forefathers? They have wonderful stories to tell. Some of which are recorded in the pages of the Bible by our heavenly Father. Some stories are recorded in the hearts of those of us who know and love Him.

What Do People See In You?

NOVEMBER 16, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Psalm 115:17 The dead praise not the LORD, neither any that go down into silence.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

As a young boy growing up, my father was not one much to say, “Praise the Lord” aloud. He was not a hanky waving, amen yelling, hooting, and hollering type of a man. Instead, he lived a quiet peaceful life and was a Godly man in front of his wife, children, neighbors, co-workers, and friends. He was human and would slip from time to time. However, truthfully, I can remember very few of those times. The slip-ups were not what characterized his life. People who knew him while he was still alive would often say things like, “Your dad is a fair man,” or, “He is a good man,” and he was. Yet, toward the end of his life, as cancer began to take away the precious moments which he thought he was going to have in his older age, I began to see a change in him. He started saying, “Praise the Lord” more aloud as the days began to dwindle away. He became a lot more vocal about how God should receive honor for what He was doing for him in those last days. He was not trying to score any brownie points with God by doing so. He knew he did not need brownie points as his salvation was already secured in Christ. He was not trying to make a name for himself among those around him. He already had a good name from living a good life. So why did my dad become more vocal?

Maybe today’s verse helps us to understand. I think he realized he only had a few more days, weeks, or months at best to praise God here on earth. The dead can leave a great testimony with the life they have lived. Nevertheless, someone needs to share that testimony. My dad was, is, and always will be one of my greatest heroes. Still, to the rest of the world he was just another factory-working person who went to church and lived a good life. Nevertheless, at the last, he shared what he wanted people to remember most. “Praise the Lord for all He has given to me.”

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Has a Godly person you knew passed on? Be their voice of assurance to others. The dead can only speak through the voices of the living. They praise God in heaven every day now. Live your life today, so it will be a testimony tomorrow.

Act Or Fact?

NOVEMBER 15, 2021

KEY FROM GOD’S WORD:

Proverbs 15:8 The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD: but the prayer of the upright is his delight.

THOUGHT ON GOD’S WORD:

Religion is often filled with pomp and ceremony. Things must be just so, or we are not happy. Our religious acts of worship toward God are often glorious reflections of our love, adoration, respect, and worship of who He is in our life. I will in no way say that we should make little of our many means of worship. It teaches children and young Christians reverence to an Almighty Creator and the Lord of our life. Our means of worship helps us to refocus our lives and put God first again. These traditions of faith help us to have continuity with the churches of old in our forms of adoration toward the Father in Heaven. The only times these rituals become a problem are when the act of Religious Ceremony become the item of worship. For example, if taking communion is your worship to God, but then you never think of Him or live for Him in between these acts of worship, then the ceremony has become a problem. Why? Because, it has become your worship to God, and this is not worship. It is an act of obedience and love for Him. It is part of our way of expressing worship to the Lord. However, it is not worship.

Worship includes your entire life. If you are living like the world and then believe somehow the act of coming to the communion table makes your worldly practices ok, there is a problem. As today’s verse says, “The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the Lord.” No matter what this sacrifice is. Does your giving tithes and offering bring joy into your life because you love God and want Him to be able to reach others with your gift of love? Or do you feel like this is one more religious notch in my belt with God. God does not care about your sacrifice until you make the one most important sacrifice. Give yourself to Him. If you will lay yourself on the altar of sacrifice to the Lord, then everything you do, say, and think are filtered through who God is in your life. Then your prayers become His delight.

CARRYING THAT THOUGHT THROUGH THE DAY:

Everyone wants to delight God. I mean who would not want to make God happy. Well, this verse tells you how you can do that. Live upright for Him. It is not about righteous ACTS it’s about Holiness.
